Release Failure from TFS CI - azure

I am trying to deploy an application to the Azure Service Fabric using the release definition task. When it gets to the task to deploy the server is returning the following error:
The type initializer for 'Microsoft.ServiceFabric.Powershell.Constants' threw an exception
I checked the Endpoint configuration and it appears to be set up as it is supposed to be:
No Authentication (this is an internal text box)
Cluster endpoint: tcp://[service fabric server]:19000
It downloads the artifacts without a problem, but in deploy it searches for the paths for publish profile and application package and finds them. After it finds them it throws the error. I have tried replacing TCP in the endpoint with http, added and removed the :19000 as well and all I get is this error. I have been searching online with little success. Any help to this end is much appreciated.

After lots of researching trying every suggestion I could find, we decided try and connect to the machine via Powershell on the box and it too was returning this error. So we uninstalled the SDK and re-installed it and the connection could be made and the builds started to work. I don't know exactly why it failed, but apparently a re-install did the trick. It may have been a bad install, or it could have been a versioning problem. Either way, try a re-install first.

Cannot deploy Azure app service via GitHub Actions after upgrading from .NET Core 5 to 6

I updated my ASP.NET Core web application from .NET Core 5 to .NET Core 6. This seems to work fine locally.
I then checked my changes into GitHub, whereupon a GitHub action builds and deploy this to my App Service on Azure. This did not work the first time, because my YAML file still referenced .NET 5. I changed that and tried again. However, I then got a different error:
Error: EISDIR: illegal operation on a directory, open '/home/site/wwwroot/wwwroot/Identity/lib/bootstrap/LICENSE'
I found a post describing this very error and attempted to follow the instructions suggested by Trevor Davis (https://stackoverflow.com/a/70136206/98422), which was to delete the contents of the /home/site/wwwroot/ folder in my deployed App Service and re-deploy.
However, having done so, I now get a different error when trying to deploy the website:
Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/home/site/wwwroot/Azure.Storage.Blobs.dll'
An error has occurred during web site deployment.
Kudu Sync failed
...and now I've no idea how to fix it. And my website is down :-(
Can anyone please advise?
Well, I hope this helps someone else. I discovered that simply stopping the website while the deploy was in progress was enough to make it work again.
Two days needless downtime... :-(
I removed all references to identity as I wasn't using it, this got the deployment working. Not sure why..
I my situation, the underlying issue seemed to be updating Microsoft.AspNetCore.Identity.UI from version 5.* to version 6+. What worked for me was just reverting Microsoft.AspNetCore.Identity.UI to 5.0.17.

New deployed azure function returns 404 Not Found error

Hey I have deployed new azure function using Azure dev ops CI/CD. The function app has been deployed successfully and when I go to the main URL, it says your function app is running. I tried to test the end points("/save") using azure portal and the output is 404 Not found. The same results when I use POST man as well. Any help would be appreciated?
2020-11-21T11:30:45.769 [Error] The following 2 functions are in error:
Get: The function type name 'DocumentContextFunction.Functions.GetDocument'
is invalid.
Save: The function type name
'DocumentContextFunction.Functions.SaveDocument' is invalid.
I have fixed this by updating the value of the "FUNCTIONS_EXTENSION_VERSION" from 1 to 3. For some reason every time I deployed using Azure CI/CD, its value is set to 1, so I have to manually change it to be 3.
I encountered this error when my build targeted win-x64 whereas the Azure Function Platform was configured as 32 bit.
In my case I had a function created in portal. I then published a function via visual studio. After publishing the portal created function was 404 not found and I could not even delete the function from the portal.
Exact same code in a new function worked as expected.
This is not intuitive and were no indications in the portal that previous portal created functions would break.
This maybe buried somewhere in documentation but I would have expected a warning in azure before allowing other functions to break without code changes.
The author's question helped me understand where the problem was coming from. In my case, it was not about the CI/CD pipeline doing anything funny.
It was my IaC code which was not setting up the function app properly. It picks version ~1 by default but I had to set it to ~3.
My function apps were working until I included a new custom package with a later version of Microsoft.Extensions.Logging. My functions were using Microsoft.Extensions.Logging 2.1.1. The package had version 7.0.0, which is for Net7. It was incompatible with my Net6 projects.
When the package was added, the Microsoft.Extensions.Logging version in my project was updated to 7.0.0. The were no compile errors, but debugging showed that the assembly could not be loaded. This was causing the 404.
Changing the package version back to 2.1.1 corrected the problem.
This is what worked for me...
Note: I was getting 404 on my function which is a nodejs and inline editing on the browser.
Open your function.json and take a backup as we are going to change it.
See if in your function.json there are two different settings with "direction": "in"
For me there were two. I tried deleting but it keep coming back.
Next I went to 'Integrations' (on left menu) and opened my trigger and deleted it. This will recycle your trigger. And hope this works for you too.

Vague error with Azure DevOps web app deploy

I am attempting to use an Azure App Service Deploy task in Azure DevOps to deploy a file to an app service in Azure. I have been able to use this release pipeline to deploy to the same app service in the past. Two things have changed: I had to re-make the build machine (which exists in Azure), and the source code moved from Azure DevOps to GitLab.
The error I am running into is:
Error: (3/21/2019 4:34:45 PM) An error occurred when the request was processed on the remote computer.
Error: The server experienced an issue processing the request. Contact the server administrator for more information.
Well, I'm the server admin, and I don't have a clue.
Is there some log file I can look at for more information? Can someone please offer some suggestions?
I'm happy to provide additional information, I'm just not sure what would help at this point.
Thank you Tom Sun for directing me to the system.debug variable. That was very helpful. When I turned on the debugging the release worked, witch really doesn't make sense. I started the build machine after it had automatically shut down the day before, but then I had also rebooted the machine eight or nine times before that.
I removed the debug variable and the release still works.
I have no satisfying answer to how this issue was resolved and I don't know how to get the system in a state to reproduce the error.
An additional finding I have is that the artifact produced by the original build was a corrupt war file. Perhaps that had something to do with it?

Azure Data Factory failed on Build server The remote name could not be resolved: 'datafactories.schema.management.azure.com'

I have Data Factory project in my solution. It compiled successfully on my machine. But when I triggered it from my tfs build server DataFactory throws an error at ParameterConfig.json
MsBuild\1.0\DataFactory.targets (35): Failed to download JSON schema
http://datafactories.schema.management.azure.com/internalschemas/2015-01-01-preview/Microsoft.DataFactory.Table.json
with exception message The remote name could not be resolved:
'datafactories.schema.management.azure.com'
I have added $schema in all the datasets, pipeline, and ParameterConfig files. This issue is intermittent. Someday it fails someday it works.
After lot more brainstorming I come to know that its totally intermittent issue.
I got related issues in Keyvault stuff also. Same error saying "Remote name could not be resolved".
What I observed is the URL mentioned above "http://datafactories.schema.management.azure.com" is not accessible from my build server account. So I used the trick and it works for me.
I have added "http://datafactories.schema.management.azure.com" site as a trusted site on my build server Internet settings.
It works! I didn't get any issues till now. My build is succeeded all the time.

Unable to deploy ASP.NET MVC 4 app as Azure Web Site

I have an ASP.NET MVC 4 app that I'm trying to deploy as an Azure Web Site. My app works fine in my local environment. When I publish the site to azure though, I receive the following error:
Multiple types were found that match the controller named 'Root'. This can happen if the route that services this request ('') does not specify namespaces to search for a controller that matches the request. If this is the case, register this route by calling an overload of the 'MapRoute' method that takes a 'namespaces' parameter.
The request for 'Views' has found the following matching controllers:
MyApp.HD.Web.Controllers.RootController
MyApp.Web.Controllers.RootController
Why would I get this error on Azure but not locally? I can't figure out how to get around it.
Thank you
I've had this problem before. Let me explain why it happened.
We added a new project to our solution, let's call it NewProject. This project had been set up incorrectly so we recreated it as NewProject2. Once the project was setup and working, we renamed it to NewProject. This is when the problem started. Under certain build configurations we were getting the same error as you. It was complaining about ambiguous controllers with namespaces NewProject and NewProject2. Doing a find-in-files returned no matches for NewProject2. The was thoroughly frustrating. Given that this was only occuring under certain build configurations was a big sign that the problem was with left-over references in the bin folder(s). Doing a clean didn't seem to fix the problem. The ultimate fix was to do a complete code purge. DLLs typically do not get committed to source control. I backed up and deleted all code and got it back from source control. The issue no longer occurs.
It's worth mentioning that this issue was not global. It only occurred on certain developer machines. I figure the ones that were affect were the ones that had gotten latest from source control during the process of create1/create2/rename2/delete1.
Try doing a clean and rebuild in the affected build config.
Try manually removing your bin and obj folders.
Try a complete code purge
