I have some CTAs based on a custom page type. I'm wondering if there is a way to get a json object so i can consume that in some JS on a pardot landing page i'm building out?
I'd like to avoid cutting and pasting the rendered HTML as I know these will change.

I have developed an application which was MVC application. It has a requirement that the application will return json data for one get request.
So I have added apicontroller and created a get method to return json data.
So far so good. but then I thought, is it really needed to add apicontroller to create just one get method.
I started exploring and googling what is the difference other than content negotiation. Got lots of answers and articles but non of them were satisfactory.
So here is the actual confusion, why can't I just create a method in the MVC controller with JsonResponse and return the json data(Which I know only is need for my requirement, but other application on different domain will consume it).
Can anyone convince me why should I use apicontroller instead of MVC JsonResponse for my requirement or should I not be using apicontroller at all.

If I get it right the question is Can we use MVC action to serve json content answer is yes! Is it okay to use Json Result? answer is It depends where do you want to consume it
Say I am an in a Web Environment where I have no need for the APIs (that means I am not going to serve my data to multiple clients) If that's the scenario where only your View is going to consume data returned from your Action Method you are good to go. An Action returning a Json Result is basically an Action Result and that's what it is made for.
but If you are in a REST scenario and you need your backend to serve your data to the client de facto standard is to use an independent Web API for that.
Controllers' main responsibility should be to work as an intermediary between your View and Model and whatever service layer you want to bring inside it. on the other hand, Web APIs are data-driven there only purpose is to serve data (use them if you need them)
Web APIs are good cause they give you the flexibility of serving the data to possibly any client that might need it. That's what I would pick if I am starting from scratch but if I only need to serve data to one client Controller Action methods will be way to go.

I'm relatively new to webdevelopment and have been using ArangoDB for most of that limited experience. I have a basic understanding of Node.js and creating express based CRUD apps with ArangoDB as the database.
I'm getting to a point though where I'd like to have the ability to query the database from inside the client. Say I would like to have a datalist-type element where the user types words into a searchbar. I'd like the ability to query the database from there rather than having to query the database for all of its files prior to creating the datalist. I have not found a single mention though of using database queries from the client side. I can't imagine that this is not possible. Surely when I search wikipedia through the search bar and it provides me with options I didn't just receive the entire wikipedia documents list upon loading the page? Please steer me in the right direction, I don't know how to tackle this problem.
Have a look at how to build dynamic forms, this will allow you to perform AJAX style calls from the browser window to a back end REST API service. This will allow your back end web service to gather the data for the response (from ArangoDB if required), and respond with that data, most likely in a JSON format.
Your UI can then take that response and dynamically update components in your DOM so that the user can see the data injected into the page without a page reload action taking place.

I have a Windows Phone 8 app. My app needs to POST some data to a web page that I have on my server. Please note, I am trying to POST to a web page, not a web service. The reason that I need to POST to a web page is because 1) I'm trying to render some contents in a web page that is currently launched via a WebBrowserTask 2) I am passing a large amount of data to the web page.
From what I can tell, the WebBrowserTask only allows "GET". Now, I'm totally lost in regards to what to do. Is there a was to POST data via a WebBrowserTask? If not, is there a way to serialize my data as JSON and cram it into the query string? I know that's ugly. At the same time, I'm not sure what else to do.

Try adding a WebBrowser control then make your request through either WebClient or HttpWebRequest. Once you get the html response use the NavigateToString(string) method to display the result.
But you can simply use the Navigate(uri) method if you only need to specify some query string params.
I'm developing a very dynamic web application via ember.js. The client-side communicates with a server-side JSON API. A user can make various choices and see diced & filtered data from all kinds of perspectives, where all of this data is brought from said API.
Thing is, I also need to generate static pages (that Google can understand) from the same data. These static pages represent pre-defined views and don't allow much interaction; they are meant to serve as landing pages for users arriving from search engines.
Naturally, I'd like to reuse as much as I can from my dynamic web application to generate these static pages, so the natural direction I thought of going for is implementing a server-side module to render these pages which would reuse as much as possible of my Ember.js views & code.
However - I can't find any material on that. Ember's docs say "Although it is possible to use Ember.js on the server side, that is beyond the scope of this guide."
Can anyone point out what would be possible to reuse on the server-end, and best practices for designing the app in a way to enable maximal such reuse?
Of course, if you think my thinking here doesn't make sense, I'd be glad to hear this (and why) too :-)

Handlebars - Ember's templating engine - does run on the server (at least under Node.js). I've used it in my own projects.
When serving an HTTP request for a page, you could quite possibly use your existing templates: pull the relevant data from the DB, massage it into a JSON object, feed it to handlebars along with the right template, then send the result to the client.

You could use it to render the pages on the server and return a plain html version.

I have a SharePoint web part that gets XML data from an .ASHX page, parses it and displays it using JavaScript. Everything works fine, until the XML changes. When I view the web part in IE, the new data is not updated until I close the browser. Even doing a CTRL-F5 does not grab the new data.
Firefox displays the new data immediately, with just a simple page refresh.
I have added a timestamp to the query string of my .ASHX page so that the XML result is not cached, but that did not fix my IE woes. Any other ideas?

The .ASHX page is using the API to access a list and is building the XML string, then returning that as an application/XML content type. I have confirmed that the XML is updated to reflect the new data in the list. I am also able to see the data consumed in the web part when it is displayed in FireFox.
Solution
I actually was generating the timestamp to append to my query in the server code, and then putting that string in the javascript. Once I moved the timestamp code to the javascript, things started working much better.
It's most likely cached, there's no other logical explanation why it would work in Firefox and not in IE. Try reloading IE several times in a row.
Check what headers that .ashx page sets.
It's not just your browser which could be caching the page, any middleware including web server might have a flawed caching implementation. You can also try using HTTP POST instead of GET because according to HTTP specification, POST requests should never be cached.
Is it a custom Web Part or one of the out-of-the-box Web Parts? It would make it easier to help you if you provided any more information on how you're retrieving the data from the HttpHandler (ashx).
