I am hitting an null reference exception on startup because the tracker object is null - although this is bound as a static in the API Definition

I was having the exact same issue and I found out what the problem is. I was testing this using the simulator.
The AppsFlyer SDK returns null for the AppsFlyerTracker.SharedTracker() method if the app is running on the simulator. Make sure that you run the app on a real device, and that you check for a null before calling methods on SharedTracker() otherwise you'll get a NullPointerException from Xamarin.
Make sure you've added a reference to AppsFlyerXamarinBinding.dll in your project's references, under .Net Assembly.
The dll file can be found in the project's Bin/Debug folder (you'll have to build the binding project first in order to generate an updated dll file).
Also, add "using AppsFlyerXamarinBinding" in your delegate.

I have an XPages application that has been running quite happily for the last couple of years.
The application uses some Java classes as converters that are used to convert data entry on certain fields to upper case, proper case, etc. This functionality has been present and working since the app was first deployed.
Today I was asked to make a change to one of the pages, adding a new field. The change was made in a test copy of the database, the app rebuilt and tested and all was fine.
The same change was then promoted into the live database, but after being rebuilt the error
Can't instantiate class: 'Cannot find class uk.co.xxx.beans.UpperCase in NSF'.
is being returned.
I have tried rebuilding the app and cleaning the project numerous times without success. I have also tried amending the code in the Java class and rebuilding.
If I remove all references to the UpperCase class it then complains about the ProperCase class. It appears as if the app has lost its reference to the Java classes and rebuilding isn't fixing the problem.
As an interim solution I have removed all uses of these classes so that users can at least display the page - but this is obviously not a long term solution. As soon as I reinstate one instance and rebuild, the error returns.
The only change in the app has been the addition of the new field. Removing it makes no difference.
Can you suggest anything else I can try and what may be causing the problem?
Open production db in designer and using Navigator view open WebContent/WEB-INF and delete classes folder. Then rebuild the app or refresh it from template again.
Sometimes classes are not updated correctly. I've seen it few times.
I have seen this too (domino 8.5.3). I recompile until it eventually works. With a restart of the http task thrown in for good measure. How are you deploying the classes within the db or as jar files in lib/ext?
I ran into similar issues with 8.53 FP2 with the same "can't instantiate errors" if accessed by a designer client. I even put a PRD in at IBM for it.
In order to fix this problem we had to update to the server and clients to FP5. We had a work around before we could update the FP5. We had to modify how the application was rolled out. Once the database was updated from a template we had to do a clean then a build while use our Application ID used for signing applications.

Is there any alternative to achieving serialising and deserialising of objects in Xamarin.iOS (Monotouch) using protobuf-net other than this method:

Reading around some people claim they have managed it (without giving evidence), but my understanding is that [iOS JIT==NO] so does not quite make sense.
If the only possible solution is to fully AOT all relevant classes what might a suitable pre/post-build event command line be to perform this AOT for any relevant assemblies automatically?
I've heard a good number of people have success via that route, but I too can't give documented evidence.
That method is a bit out of date - I've simplified a few steps; there is a standalone pre-compile tool that should work:
create a project/assembly for the DTOs that you want to serialize that references the appropriate version of protobuf-net; presumably CoreOnly/ios, ideally with that dll set to copy into the output directory (it just makes life easier)
run
precompile "SomePath/YourDto.dll" -t:MySerializer -o:MySerializer.dll
(maybe with a mono before that to get mono to host the exe)
this should resolve the framework and compile a MySerializer.dll that you can reference, which involves zero JIT (MySerializer.dll will reference your dto dll and the version of protobuf-net that your dto dll referenced)
now reference your dto dll, the serializer dll, and the protobuf-net dll, and it should all work just by using new MySerializer().Serialize(...)
when you compile your solution, the projects should all AOT nicely
I'll be happy to offer guidance, but currently I am mac-less, so I can't check right now. If you get any problems let me know. If it can't resolve the framework, you can add -f:{path to the framework assemblies} to give it a clue.
I got protobuf-net 2 working on Xamarin-iOS by using the netstandard1.0 dll. You can get this dll by extracting the nuget package. No changes were needed.
In one of my scripts it is required that I reference System.Drawing. However it seems every time I start up the project and enter Mono it's removed the reference and I need to re-add it.
All my other references stay where they should be, any particular reason this may be happening or how I would prevent it?
Unity regenerates the .csproj.sln files automatically whenever the filesystem changes which will overwrite any change you have made to your .csproj.sln.
Unity uses information from the Unity project and the filesystem to do this so you have to use a method Unity understands for your changes to be preserved. For example, preprocessor flags have to be defined through the Unity project and assemblies have to be added via the filesystem.
I believe if you drop your dlls into ./Assets/Dlls then they will be included in the project. However, I suspect System.Drawing will not be supported because its an incompatible drawing library.
I'm using the latest version of the MS CRM 2011 SDK and am trying to deploy a custom workflow activity (it has been signed with a key). The plugin registration tool throws an error "Unable to load plug-in assembly" without much information about the root cause.
The error trace thrown by the tool is very similar to the one described in this post
The answer to the post referenced above indicates adding Microsoft.Xrm.Client assembly in the GAC, but my workflow project references the following DLLs
1)Microsoft.Crm.Sdk.Proxy.dll
2)Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.dll
3)Microsoft.Xrm.Client.dll
4)Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.Workflow.dll
Should all these be added to the GAC?
The CRM server is Win 2K8R2. I tried dragging and dropping the assemblies to the c:\windows\assembly folder but that did not work. No errors but nothing was copied over either. I followed the instructions outlined in this post but that did not work either.
What am I missing?
I don't think you should have to place any crm dlls into the gac, they are already installed in the CRM server files. If you think it might solve the problem use gacutil (not clear if you can't install to the gac, or if that didn't fix the problem).
I suspect its complaining about your dll, are you trying to register to the disk? As you usually have to place the dll in the crm/server/bin folder first. Try deploying to the database - makes life easier for deploying the solution to other servers later.
If that still doesn't work post the trace of the error.

Turns out that if you use the /codecustomization switch to have the code generator derive from "CrmOrganizationcContext", you need "microsoft.xrm.client.dll". This DLL is not included in the default install of CRM and you need to get this on the server one wa or another.
I decided against using the /codecustomization switch which causes the "context" to derive from "OrganizationContext" instead and not take a dependency on that DLL. Plugin registration now works! This post provides more insight
I am experimenting with ServiceStack's JSON engine. I grabbed the MonoTouch binary build, v2.20. Works fine from simulator, but from the iOS device (iPad2, iOS5) I get an exception thrown by the type initializer for JsonWriter (and not much other than that). I am using MonoTouch 5, MonoDevelop 2.8.1, and targeting iOS 5. I have disabled library linking because I am getting an error when enabled.
I created a sample and uploaded to https://github.com/t9mike/ServiceStack-JSON1.
I'm trying to determine whether the issue is my compilation options, Service Stack, or MonoTouch. Thanks in advance.
A quick partial answer that might help:

The current (5.0) managed linker can eliminate some unused (from a static analysis point of view) code from your application. This generally occurs when using Link all option, i.e. where user code gets processed by the linker.
One alternative is using the Link SDK assemblies only that won't touch the user code (only the code shipped with MonoTouch itself will be processed by the linker).
Another alternative is adding [Preserve] attributes on your code to ensure the serializer requirements are still met after the linker has processed your code. More information about the linker and [Preserve] attributes can be found here.
The next (5.2) release of MonoTouch will include a bit more sophisticated step in the linker to ensure the basic XML serialization and DataContract requirements are not broken. Not sure if this will solve this specific case (ServiceStack JSON) but I'll have a look into it.
As for the rest of your question I'll try to build this myself and duplicate your issue.
I ended up grabbing the ServiceStack.Text sources from GitHub, version 3.0.3. I created a new MonoTouch library project. I had to tweak ServiceStack.Text/JsConfig.cs slightly to conditionalize away the System.Drawing.Color bits. I'll send a patch and MT csproj to the authors.
After using this new assembly, my sample MT app ran fine on the device. I have updated my sample at https://github.com/t9mike/ServiceStack-JSON1 with the new ServiceStack.Text dll.
