Ableton Link in a VST Plugin possible? - audio

First i am not really a coder more a musician.
Ableton Link comes more and more to our devices in apps but not in DAWs like Cubase, Bitwig, Logic, FL Studio, Cakewalk, etc.
So is it possible to grab the song tempo from a DAW and transmit it via the Ableton Link protocol over a VST plugin? Ok, mostly it is an one way synchronization. A VST plugin can't set the host tempo. But hey, for me its ok when my devices (iOS, Android apps with Ableton Link support) are in sync!
Hope it is clear what i mean and hoping here for a magic VST coder to realize my dream!

Yes, this is theoretically possible. There is nothing special about the Link framework to prevent it from being used in a VST. But as you noted, the host will be unable to accept tempo changes from the plugin. Maybe this is a limitation which is acceptable in certain use-cases.
Rather than pleading for a random magic VST coder to realize your dream, perhaps you should encourage the creators of your DAW of choice to integrate Link in their application. ;)

Is it possible to command the Nintendo switch's joy cons with a PC?

I want to create a TAS that can play the Nintendo Switch games that are only compatible with the joy cons.
There are turbo pro controllers in the market but there is no turbo joy cons, so my next idea is one of two:
To use the Bluetooth to connect a devise that I could control with my PC and can be connected to the Nintendo switch via Bluetooth (or USB) and trick it into thinking that it is a joy con and not a pro controller.
Use the idea above but the devise is the joy con itself, in this case, I would have to connect the joy cont to the PC and command it while it is still paired with the Nintendo Switch
Is there any way to achieve what i'm looking for? Thanks in advise.

Looks like you'd need to reverse engineer the communication protocol used by those controllers and then emulate that protocol with software. Here is a resource I have found regarding RE bluetooth. Another one I have found here. Redfang may help you in that endeavor, it is software that helps you find bluetooth addresses of devices that you you can't discover normally.
Another idea I would have is to open your controller and solder on some wires to a micro controller, such as an Arduino, Raspberry or something similar to the buttons and analogue controllers and 'input' the commands that way.

One possible way is to use JoyCon Droid app in Android to controll the Nintendo Switch. If this app can work, it should be possible to make one as PC software too.
Luckily, there are a few easy ways to control Android from PC such as using AirDroid which allows you to touch the Android screen from PC. You can refer to How to remote control Android device from a computer with AirDroid?. It can both mirror the screen and give you the touchscreen control, which you can utilize it to control the JoyCon Droid app.

Stream audio from place 1 to place 2 over the internet

So I'm kinda stuck here.
I have a radio station, but we are mobile. So I have a studio on wheels. The problem is, we have an antenna, but we always have to place that really close to our studio. Now I want to make an device that can stream the audio from the audio mixer to the internet and can be received by another device in another network and send that signal to the antenna (audio output).
to make this clear, I made a schema with raspberry pi's;
I want this to be plug and play So I only have to plug in the device in the modem (or network we have) on both sides and the devices should find each other.
I don't know HOW I can do this, so I need to know a couple of things:
What hardware should I use?
What software should I use?
What is the best configuration to accomplish this?
Can I use 2 raspberry pi's?
How can I let the devices find each other over the internet?
There need to be some features;
The system needs to be able to buffer the audio for 5-10 seconds
It needs to be direct, so it's live and not a file that needs to be played
The system must be failless (beside the fact the internet can die).
Plug and play is a must, I don't want to have a really messy configuration to do. (if possible, without any kind of portforwarding).
I would really appreciate help and a decent explaination.

Well, it depends on your capabilities as a programmer.
If you're really fixated on the RPi for it's convenient form factor, there's a ton of community support, so I'd start with something like this project to kick start you in the right direction. If you already know python pretty well, modify away and have fun.
If you have no programming experience, you'll probably want to put a desktop in place of the RPi and launch some instances of VLC. It's not necessarily plug n play, but you can get close enough by getting a command line VLC to launch at startup.
Either way, the more difficult problem here is the "over the internet" part. This would really need to be a server-client model, but who is your server depends on who is more stationary (I'm guessing Location 2?) because the client will need to know the IP address of the server somehow. There are dozens of ways to make this happen, but at the end of the day, you'll want to use sockets accomplish the

... which unfortunately gets complicated. See this answer for confirmation. Would love to help with some tips on implementation, but we need more information about your willingness to "dig into the code", the necessity of the RPi, and whether the stationary location has a static web address.

The app is basically a DAW, digital audio workstation, is fast and sounds good... you can eveb use samples and save projects in the cloud.
But my main question is which languages or tools can make an app like this ?
but i don't know which languages make this kind of apps posible ?
is it creating the sound in the browser, or in a server and sending it back ?
any guesses?
Audiotool.com uses flash to synthesize audio. Their FAQ says that you should update your flash player if you're having trouble, so that seems like a pretty strong indication that they use flash.
However, if you want to make music apps, I would advise against using flash. Newer devices and operating systems will drop support for flash (iPhones/iPads already don't support flash, I believe).
If you want a future-proofed music-making solution, you can do that all client-side in javascript with the web-audio api.

Which developer roles or titles are needed to build a software DAW?

So far, I've used many different Audio Production software on Mac and Windows platforms. Often times, I ponder on the idea of creating my own DAW, but I realize that would be an extremely difficult challenge for a single person to undertake (especially if only knowledgeable in one particular area / language of programming).
There's a flood of ideas / features that comes to my mind just by the thought of some of the other DAWs I've used. From implementing MIDI in/out, Audio Routing, Mix Buses, VST support, User Interface for a Piano Roll and Song view, etc...
So my question is...
Which roles would be required in a team of developers to create a complete Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Software?
I think the right answer is several good developers (you don't need so many, perhaps 3) a good product manager, an ui designer/graphist a lot of testers. And a good coffee machine.
The real problem is what kind of DAW do you want, portable on mac and windows, which OSs, which formats (vst 2, 3, AU, RTAS, AAX, rack extension, DX), do you want only MIDI and adio tracks, which external MIDI devices you want to support, do you support OSC, other protocols?
What will be the features of you mixer, integrated effects? What support of audio API on windows (wasapi, asio ...) do you want some cloud feature ? community or online store integration?
What kind of breakthrough would you have compared to cubase, live, PT, DP, Logic, garage band, bitwig, studio one, sonar, fl studio ...? Do you want modular patches or just tracks? Will you have advanced integrated controls or midi modifiers?
All that is the problem...

First you need to know that IrDA is not the best choice for remote control. It can be done, but IrDA is by design high speed/low range, you can emulate low speeds but ranges (IMO) are far from practical usage (Nokia e50 is able to control digital camera shutter from 2-3m... with very, very careful aiming). The amount of hacking needed to achieve this is shown here, you basically need to trick IrDA to send correct impulses with correct frequency.
The second thing is that CIR remote control is not as simple as you might think. There are countless standards that differ in used frequency, modulation, wavelength, command codes and so on. As for ready made libraries and platforms... I honestly don't know. I've seen it done on PocketPC (nevo among others) and Symbian S60 (irRemote). Haven't seen working J2ME app yet.
Last time I needed the IR remote I hacked it together using IR diode, AVR ATTiny and surprisingly short piece of assembly :)
