Kentico V9 Confirm form submission with javascript history.back - kentico

My repeater has enough data where I see my pagination. When I view the detail transformation for any items after the first page, the history.back() button gives me the form submission error.
Short of hard coding the back button, what's the easiest solution to avoid this?

I assume the "history.back()" is your javascript? The pagination is most likely occurring through postback, and any navigation back will require that same post data being sent.
One option is you can make the pagination not postback, but instead URL based. In the "Paging" area of your repeater, set the Mode to "QueryString" and set a querystring key (like "page"). Try that!
Otherwise you will need to do a window.location = "/The/Previous/Url" so it won't event attempt a postback and will simply direct them to the page, but your page you were last on will be lost.

Wrap the webpart in an update panel. In the webpart you can check the box to do this very easy and leave the rest of your configurations the way they are. If other elements on the page require a postback or rely on that webparts values then you may have to wrap all of them in an update panel.

Kendo Grid Page Persistence

This is a more conceptual question, so I'm not initially submitting any code for it unless someone requests it.
On a current website of mine, I am using a Kendo UI grid to display a table of multiple pages. I also have a (Kendo UI) drop down list, allowing the user to filter rows by class (it reloads the page and makes the necessary edits through the controller).
My problem is this: when the user pages through the Kendo UI grid, it loads a new page and the filtering preferences do not persist. How can I make it either not reload the page(and do everything on the same page instead), or make the drop down box's value persist? Thanks, and tell me if there's any information that would be helpful for me to add!
CLARIFICATION: The functionality is all fine, the only issue is that the dropdownlist does not visually persist.
Actually you can bind both dropdownlist and grid to a single external datasource. This datasource will actually place a ajax call and get the records when the value in drop down changes. As the new records appear in datasource the grid can be refreshed or will automatically refresh without the page reload. Page reload doesn't look like a clean way to filter the grid.

xpages dojo validation textbox required

I have dojo validation textbox in my xpage with required property computed (compute dynamically) as below
var syn = getComponent("SynCboxGrp").getValue();
if (syn == "Yes")
{return true;
}else{
return false;
}
Here the component SynCboxGrp is radio button. The text box is required based on the radio button value. But its not working properly. Changing radio button value doesnt change the required behaviour.
Appreciate any help
Update
Thanks stwissel, Per Henrik Lausten and Eric.
I only have this ssjs in required property
<xe:djValidationTextBox id="UBOCAgent" value="#{dsRacDoc.UBOCAgent}" disableClientSideValidation="true">
<xe:this.required><![CDATA[#{javascript:var syn = getComponent("SynCboxGrp").getValue();
if (syn == "Yes")
{
return true;
}else{
return false;
}
}]]></xe:this.required>
</xe:djValidationTextBox>
I also tried this partial refresh code on my radio button onclick event XSP.partialRefreshGet("#{id:UBOCAgent}");
This still doesnt change the behaviour. It works based on the initial radio button value. On the negative side since its a get request it updates the field content from the server. I also tried Eric's suggestion disable client validation but that didnt help.
Eric, I am also trying to go with CSJS wherever possible but in this case the required property only has the SSJS option. So not sure how to try CSJS. Should i try creating my own dojo field instead of using one from entension lib? If so i am not sure how to compute required property for that. If you can help me with some sample code that would be great help.
Thanks for your time.
You're doing a partialRefreshGet, which is updating the Dojo Validation Text Box. But you never post back the updated value from the radio, so the server-side value for the radio button is still the initial value. Consequently, required is still false.
Check the markup when required is true on the Dojo Validation Text Box, but the validation triggers client-side, so there should be an attribute in the markup that you can manipulate via CSJS, if that is your preferred route.
Do you have particular latency issues that you need to work around? Picking up on this and the other question you have about doing a lookup to a database on click of a button, you're hitting a few problems. I don't know how experienced you are in XPages development, but it's not an approach I would recommend without a good understanding of client-side output and server-side component trees. The initial page load of your XPage will also be slower and the size of the HTML passed to the browser will be larger, because of the amount of CSJS passed to the browser.
I would recommend using the in-built partial refresh except for situations where browser to server network is a significant issue, and only then falling back to coding your own partial refresh posting a subset of data. In my experience, it's easier and quicker to develop, easier to debug and more flexible.
For this particular scenario, regardless of whether you code the partial refresh yourself or use inbuilt functionality, one point I'm not certain of is this. That once you set validation on the Dojo Validation Text Box, that validation runs client-side and may impact any attempt to un-set the required property by posting to the server. I haven't tested, so can't be certain.
One of two things:
as previously mentioned, to trigger your SSJS value change, ensure a partial (at least) refresh of the element containing your above code; can be done with a container element. Also, check to see if your field's disableClientSideValidation parameter is set (All Properties view).
convert your SSJS code (which merely returns a binary assessment of a Yes or otherwise, I'm assuming No, value) to CSJS
Of late, after the primary development of my current project, I have started favoring the CSJS approach, for the sake of decreasing server-side call backs; most especially in situations where display/rendering of a component is all I'm trying to achieve. If you go this route, remember that dojo.byId("#{id:myControlsServerNameHere}").value (for a text field, see below for scraping a radio button value) combined with setting the display or visible CSS properties can be very handy. As the docs describe, if you want it to exist on the page but not show (for formatting purposes, also, can preserve default value), go the visibility route, otherwise display property.
The CSJS scrape of radio values that I'm currently using is as follows:
var result=null;
for(i=0; i<document.forms[0].elements.length;i++){
if(document.forms[0].elements[i].name=="#{id:serverNameOfRadioElement}"){
if(document.forms[0].elements[i].checked == true){
result=document.forms[0].elements[i].value;
break;
}
}
}
//then handle your result, either with an if, or switch statement
Hope this helps. If there's more you're having trouble with, post back with more code to give the bigger picture.

In XPages Mobile App / Mobile Control, how to make picklist

I have two pages, one page for input, another page for the options, how to send value form page to another page on xPages Mobile Controls, or is there another way to make like this.
See my sample page:
1. Page 1:User Input

Page 2:Picklist

note: the built-in typeahead not posible

The in built type ahead is missing the dojo tundra.css file when using the single page app control. This file comes with Dojo its just not being included. Import this file to get the type ahead to work.
I'm unsure as to what you mean about passing value from one page to another, you can submit data to a document and open it in another page, add it to a scoped variable, add a parameter to the URL. All of these options will work.
Have a look at my blog post on this topic. There are a couple of gotchas to get around, most notably, ensuring the the page with your document datasource gets recalculated at the correct time. I'm working on a NotesIn9 on it.
Part 3 covers a couple of amendments to get it working with existing documents and includes a sample page that will work in the Extension Library Demo db. Note the extra view that needs to be created and other details in Part Two.

Change the action when clicking on a list item

I would like to change the destination URL when clicking on a list item / item title so it will no send me to view the item but will send me to a different URL base on the item.
I am not looking to replace the Links list but to use the list title as URL query filter.
Thanks
You will need to do it using the custom Page / Customize the View Page in the SharePoint Designed. Please refer to this article on how you can achieve it using the SPGridView control
I'm not totally clear on what you'd like to do (maybe screenshot mock ups would help?), but here's some general advice.
If you want to change the behaviour of a control then investigate the properties of the control as kusek has suggested. If the properties don't do what you need then try overriding the control to change what is rendered.
If the above doesn't work out or you want to change how these links render no matter where they appear on the page, then you need to look at a page-level solution. The most common are jQuery that can dynamically replace the URLs with JavaScript, or an HTTP module which is much more low level and will actually alter the HTML rendered to the page.
Hope this helps.

how to hide querystring in asp.net content page?

i have master-content page scenario.I have a link button on content page. that redirects to other page. but with redirection it carrying the parameters. I want to hide this querystring parameters .I tried with POST() in Form tag of master page . but that does not affecting. What have to do ?
There are many ways to carry values from one page to the next. You could store the values in some Session type container, or add them as hidden fields.
If you want a ugly way, you could use a good old frameset.
POST is the answer, but we'll need some code to help more effectively
