.htaccess to remove a string within a URL - .htaccess

I am working on a website that uses DokuWiki and the website is called MiscWiki.
Currently all of the URLs are structured this way
http://www.miscwiki.org/doku.php/something/something
I would like to use a .htaccess rewrite to remove the doku.php from the URL. I currently have this statement but it is not working.
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/doku.php/?(.*)$ /$1 [R=301,L]
Thank you for the help on this one.

You can use these rules in your site root .htaccess:
AcceptPathInfo On
RewriteEngine On
## Uncomment next 2 lines only when you want to remove doku.php/ from old links
#RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/+doku\.php/(\S*) [NC]
#RewriteRule ^ /%1 [R=301,NE,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule .+ doku.php/$0 [L]

Clean URLs in a subfolder

I've read and followed guides and looked for answers to other people's questions, but I'm struggling with url rewriting and htaccess.
I have a subfolder on my site with an index page which handles query strings to bring up dynamic content. I'd like the variable to appear to be a subfolder name e.g.
http://mywebsite.com/subfolder/index.php?v=variable
to
http://mywebsite.com/subfolder/variable
The .htaccess file I've made is at http://mywebsite.com/subfolder/ i.e. the same folder as index.php
How can I get this to work? Any help gratefully appreciated.
You can use these rules inside your /subfolder/.htaccess
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /subfolder/
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/subfolder/index\.php\?v=([^&\s]+) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1? [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)$ index.php?v=$1 [L]
Update (passing two values)
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /subfolder/
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/subfolder/index\.php\?v=([^&\s]+)&v2=([^&\s]+)\s [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1/%2? [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/subfolder/index\.php\?v=([^&\s]+)\s [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1? [R=301,L]
# Don't touch to existing files/folders
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
RewriteRule ^ - [L]
# Rewrite /xxx to /index.php?v=xxx
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)$ index.php?v=$1 [L]
# Rewrite /xxx/yyy to /index.php?v=xxx&v2=yyy
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/]+)$ index.php?v=$1&v2=$2 [L]
Use this in your .htaccess:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} v=(.+)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^ subfolder/%1? [R=301,L,NE]
This grabs the variable using %{QUERY_STRING} and then appends it to the rewrite using %1. You'll see I've added a ? onto the end of the rewrite. That is to stop the original query from appearing on the end of the URL.
I've used R=301 which is a permanent redirect. You might want to changes this to R=302 while you're testing, as this is temporary.
You can view a test of this rule working here: https://htaccess.madewithlove.be?share=7b6832e9-2c05-5d1d-916c-e4dd0f5b1da6
Make sure you clear your cache before testing this.

Redirect to anothe page using .htaccess

I want to redirect the url of http://sitename/modules/fb/fb.php to http://sitename/modules/take_control .How can i do that using htaccess
I tried like
RewriteRule ^/?modules/fb/fb\.php$ take_control , Is that right ?
Your solution is the opposite of what you most likely want if you are trying to rewrite to take_control.
Give this a try. These rules should provide the rewrite with take_control as the URI both ways.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^GET\ /+modules/fb/fb\.php [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /take_control/ [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^take_control/?$ /modules/fb/fb.php [L]

edit htaccess to get inside a folder for rewrite rule

After some help from another question i managed to figure out about .htaccess on my website for Friendly SEO links.
My public_html folder contains those files
index.php
.htaccess
buisnessdetails.php
eventDetails.php
My htaccess so far is this
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(.*)\ (.*)$ /$1-$2 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /eventDetails\.php\?id=(.+)&name=(.+)\sHTTP [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1/%2? [L,R]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/]+)/?$ /eventDetails.php?id=$1&name=$2 [L]
</IfModule>
So when someone clicks an href which has http://sourtouki.gr/123/abc
the htaccess file goes to the
eventDetails.php file.
But now i want it to change like this
i've edited my public_html folder like this
index.php
events(folder)
2.1 eventDetails.php
buisness(folder)
3.1 buisnessdetails.php
So with these changes i want to do the following thing
Changed the href link to
http://sourtouki.gr/events/123/abc
What changes i must do to the .htaccess file so it can understand that if someone pushes the above link, to go to the eventDetails.php which is inside events folder??
And is it going to be editable so i can add also buisness folder inside that rewrite rule?
You can use something like :
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(.*)\ (.*)$ /$1-$2 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /events/eventDetails\.php\?id=(.+)&name=(.+)\sHTTP [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /events/%1/%2? [L,R]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^events/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/?$ /events/eventDetails.php?id=$1&name=$2 [L]

SEO-friendly URL rewrite in .htaccess

Before you flag this question -- I did search for answers, and found one close to mine that was not answered directly, so...
I am trying to write a simple RewriteRule in my .htaccess file to change ONLY the links that match to an SEO-friendly format.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/includes/seo.([a-zA-Z]+).php$ /$1
So if I have a file
/includes/seo.mydocument.php
it will appear in the browser as
/mydocument
Not sure what I'm missing.
Leading slash is not matched in .htaccess rules so use this
RewriteRule ^includes/seo\.([a-zA-Z]+)\.php$ /$1 [L,R]
But probably you want this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,}\s/+includes/seo\.([^.]+)\.php[/\s?] [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1? [R=302,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/.]+)/?$ /includes/seo.$1.php [L]

UrL Rewrite using code with my domain

URL : http://domainname.com/index.php?p=top-games
I need to rewrite this as http://domainname.com/top-games
How I do this using htaccess file? Please can any one give me the htaccess code.
Thanks
Try this:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?p=$1 [QSA,L]
</IfModule
Create .htaccess file in your root folder and paste code
You're probably looking for redirect in reverse direction.
Put this code in your DOCUMENT_ROOT/.htaccess file:
RewriteEngine On
# external redirect from actual URL to pretty one
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,}\s/+index\.php\?p=([^\s&]+) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1? [R=302,L]
# internal forward from pretty URL to actual one
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.+?)/?$ /index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
