I need to implement a solution for a client SharePoint Office 365 site. I know you can do things with 3 parts solutions or Jquery but I'm trying to keep it OOTB as possible. Here is a simplistic view of the scenario.
There is a list called Parent. It has one field Title.
There is a second list called Child. It has one field Title and another Parent
Parent is the type Lookup and points to the Title field of the Parent list.
The SharePoint form is for the Parent List so the main connection points there.
I simply want to create a data connection to the child list and have the Edit / View pages populate that a listbox with the ID(Value) and Title(Display) from the corresponding match in the Parent list.
I've tried several ways but I lack the experience to probably describe what I've tried (Using Rules and the lists.asmx as well as a retrieve data connection to child and filtering it upon load).

As per your query, I understand you want to open the form on the click of the list item with the view & edit.
for that you have to create the rules with the proper actions like if I click on the parent A then form open but after the form open we have to fetch the ID & title again by the create the connection who dynamically operate as per the call of action.if you need more details please mention comment on this / If I understand wrong the please brief your problem with the example.

Is it any way possible to export the Parent Work ID in the same row in excel as the actual work item that I am exporting?
What I want to achieve is to sum all remaining work that is left on feature level. This means I need to summarize the remaining work for all tasks under all users stories that belong to this feature.
I could fix this by adding tag of the parent feature in all tasks, but I want a better way.
There can be only one parent. Is there any way to export the parent ID?

Excel can`t import an id of linked work item in the same row. In your case, work items have to contain a parent ID in separate field. I see two ways to resolve your issue:
Create a new field for parent work item types (e.g. summary work). Then with custom solution fill that field with sum of child work.
Create a new field for the child work item types (e.g. parent id). Then with custom solution copy into that field a parent work item id.
Additionally, to avoid customization of your process template you can use Power BI custom reports (Analyze and report on your work using the new VSTS analytics service : Build 2018).
Using excel for analyzing the AzureDevOps work did not really work for all use cases.
The main reason was the ParentId. But basic graphs its easy to do.
Since then I have started using PowerBI instead. And I have managed to achieve all my requirements. After the initial setup its very straightforward to build custom reports in PowerBI.
Azure DevOps has introduced a new feature to make the Parent column available in queries.
Add parent field to backlog and queries
"The parent field is now available when viewing backlogs and query results. To add the parent field, use the Column options view."
I'm passing a parameter to a PowerApp through the calling URL called ID, i.e.

When the app launches I want it to jump from BrowseScreen1 which lists all the Business Cases and go straight to the Business Case with the matching ID (a field from a SharePoint list).
I'm brand new to PowerApps but pretty sure what I need to do is called Deep Linking and I found this tutorial https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/powerapps-deep-linking/ and having read the comments to the article I'm trying to apply it to the OnStart property of BrowseScreen1. I don't really understand how the navigation link in the tutorial is constructed so I'm sure I'm using the wrong Navigation parameters as it always launches the first record in the list ignoring anything to do with the ID. I'm using:

The tutorial doesn't mention having to change anything on the detail screen but I've also wondered if I need to perhaps change the item properties there as they are currently:

Yes, you need to change the Item property in the detail screen. This is because there is currently no way to select an item in a gallery programmatically in PowerApps.
I normally get around this by using a global variable to store the current item, so you can set BrowseSreen1.OnStart to this

This will store the item with ID equal to your parameter as a record type variable.
You also need to change the OnSelect property of your BrowseGallery1's template or whichever control is used to navigate to the detail screen. It will need to be something like this

Finally set the Item property in the detail screen simply to this
CurrentItem
I have a DVWP in Sharepoint Designer displaying list of answers from a quiz (list items). This is a joined subview to load the corresponding question from another list into the answer row.
From each answer row, how do I go about passing its corresponding rowId to a secondary joined subview? I can't seem to access the rowId of the parent from within the child.
Basically I'm attempting to make the child in each row load a list of possible answers to the parent question.
Any suggestions would be great!
You should be able to do this using web part connections. If you created custom data views, you would need to hook up the connections interface (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff597538.aspx). Note that web part connections only work on web part pages - they don't work on wiki pages.
short: A listview webpart contains a table with an ID composed of two GUID's, how do I find these?
I am working on adding some additional behaviour to a standard sharepoint listview-webpart.
Preferably I don't want to actually edit the webpart itself. I want to put javascript in a helper webpart to add some onclick events to the table rows which pass the values of the id and status columns to the helper webpart, which then displays some buttons depending on the row's status.
I searched around to see how others tackled this problem, and usually they use the webpart container div with ID WebPartWPQ _n_". The problem is that these webparts are going to be used on lots of sites, and I have no way of knowing the value of _n_.
A bit further down in the hierarchy is the main table of the view, and it also has an ID. In my test-case: {BF3FB0FA-7E7F-4920-A326-B5E46826B693}-{BD0777BD-455D-4554-A80E-8A11D990D1A5}
I figured these two guids must stand for something and could possibly be looked up.
So I went on a search through Sharepoint Manager to try to find those GUIDs, but I can't find them. Neither is the list ID, nor the original View ID, nor the web ID or the site ID.
So my question: Does anybody know what these ID's stand for, and how I can find them with my webpart code?
Have you considered using XSLT to customize the output of the webpart? You could then customize the output HTML and include any identifiers you wish so that you could reference them in your javascript. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to refer to a specific Item List within a list in SharePoint. I looked up the page in SharePoint Designer and found that the listitem is inside a custom made webpart inside a custom made webpage. I'm coding an event receiver and need to read the information that the user types into that listitem which is a textbox. Does anyone know the code to do this or how to get the guid for the specific list item?
I would appreciate any help I can get. I have tried looking all over the web for the answer. Thanks.
It might be a good idea to edit your question with exactly what you'd like to do with the information you read. However from what you've said so far:
The ID of the item being edited will already be passed through to the event receiver via SPItemEventProperties so there is no need to look it up. If you need to look up a different item in the list (or indeed in a different list altogether), the Accessing list items using the object model page on SharePoint Dev Wiki gives you all of the options. A good general rule is use SPQuery to get best performance on the whole.
Note: There is a pretty good page on the SharePoint Dev Wiki demonstrating how to write an event receiver. It shows how to query and obtain a list item title.
Update after comments:
Once you have an SPListItem object, you can find its GUID through the UniqueId property. In the "Accessing lists" wiki link I've provided above the code samples show how to use the Title property.
Every piece of data you need to access within SharePoint should be available through the object model. This is a simplification, but generally the pages themselves are rendered from template files on the server and combined with data in the database to display to the user. So editing the page programmatically or through its source isn't going to work.
Apologies if I'm making an incorrect assumption but you sound fairly new to SharePoint development. I strongly recommend you read at least the first few chapters of Inside Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 as the inner workings of SharePoint are important to get a good understanding of and this book should help a lot. There is a section of event receivers in it as well.
Have you looked at SharePoint.ListsService Webservice?
