I am trying to redirect
www.example.com/directory -> www.example.com/index.php?str=directory
I am using
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^directory$ index.php?str=directory [L]
It is not working (File not found)
However if I try to redirect anything like directory.whatever it works perfectly. (works for anything with a dot after "directory")
Example:
www.example.com/directory.whatever -> www.example.com/index.php?str=directory
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^directory.whatever$ index.php?str=directory [L]
Works fine.
Any ideas what am I doing wrong?
Try this. Directory is a directory not a file so you should have a slash at the end.
RewriteRule ^directory/(.*)$ index.php?str=directory [L]
Try this
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule ^directory$ index.php?str=directory [L]

i have an index.php in the following folder:
https://example.com/folder1/folder2/index.php
If the URL is
https://example.com/folder1/folder2/93j3h233j3
then redirect to the index.php but the URL should stay the same!
My idea: i call a php file without .php first and then try to redirect...
RewriteRule ^folder1/folder2/([^\.]+)$ /folder1/folder2/index.php?&%{QUERY_STRING}
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^folder1/folder2/(.*)$ /folder1/folder2/index.php? [R=302]
This doesnt work.
And keep the name! but how?
Any Idea?
Thank you
You can have your rule as this:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(folder1/folder2)/.+$ $1/index.php [L,NC]
There is no need to use your first rule.
I try to redirect url from
http://localhost/manual/$
to
http://localhost/manual/index.php?type=post&post=$
My file .htaccess is
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /manual/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f # Existing File
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d # Existing Directory
RewriteRule . /manual/index.php? [L]
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)\/$ type=post&post=$1 [L]
But nor working whats wrong, help, sorry if duplicate because I still not understand to create htaccess.
You can use the following rule in /manual/.htaccess :
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /manual/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ index.php?type=post&post=$1 [L]
Thanks for your help. I have been trying to solve this for an hour now.
I had this Htaccess that would rewrite /file.html to a script but decided to remove the extension and it turned out like this:
RewriteEngine On
#RewriteRule ^([^/]*)\.html$ /?file=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ /index.php?file=$1 [NC,L]
However, now I need it to work also with filename containing the dot (i.e. /file.with.dots) but that rule doesn't allow it.
This one works for files with dots but ending in .html
#RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ /index.php?file=$1 [NC]
This gets me an Internal Server Error
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)$ /index.php?file=$1 [NC,L]
You could just do this.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.+)/?$ /index.php?file=$1 [NC,L]
Let me know the result.
here is what I already have in .htaccess:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /go/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /go/index.php [L]
What I'm trying to do now is change the name of the folder that a user sees, so:
www.mysite.org/deals/post/
Would be changed to:
www.mysite.org/this/post/
I thought this code would do the trick, but it does absolutely nothing:
RewriteRule ^/deals(.*)?$ /this$1 [R]
RewriteRule ^/this(.*)?$ /deals$1 [NC]
Is my code wrong?
Are the former rewrite rules conflicting?
Any help is much appreciated,
Thanks!
Place this rule in DocumentRoot/.htaccess (not in /go/.htaccess):
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^deals/(.*)$ /this/$1 [NC,NE,L,R=302]
I have two rewrite rules which, in what ever order I add them, fail to work together
The first one takes a name from url e.g.
http://myUrl.com/JohnSmith
and forwards it to:
http://myUrl.com/pages/gf_profile.html?user=JohnSmith
Code is:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ /pages/gf_profile.html?user=$1 [NC,L]
On it's own it works fine. The second one is wordpress, I have urls e.g.:
http://myUrl.com/blog/my-blog-post
And it uses:
RewriteBase /blog/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L]
With the second section in, when I try the first URL it thinks it's a blog title and therefore cannot find it.
Is there a way to use them both?
Try:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/blog/
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ /pages/gf_profile.html?user=$1 [NC,L]
And I assume your other rules are in the /blog/ directory (otherwise it doesn't look like it'll work right).
Answer:
Thanks to #anubhava - I simply created a .htaccess file in the /blog/ folder with the following on and all works perfectly now.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /blog/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
I'm not sure why wordpress doesn't add this on install, it should IMHO - hopefully this might help someone who has a similar issue down the line.
