I am trying to Execute a dtsx file in Visual Studio 2012. I've created an Integration Services Solution?Project, and added the dtsx file to it, however, when I right-click and select Execute I get the following error -
****TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio
The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
(Application Import)****
Also, outside of VS, when selecting the dtsx file in my windows Explorer, it does not give me the option to Open the file with VS. And when I try to I get the following error
"The program you have selected cannot be associated with this file type. Please choose another program."
I realize more details may be necessary, please feel free to ask for further information.

I have a web project, which works fine on local PC. But when I publish it on Azure Website, I get an error:
Could not load type 'Infrastructure.Asset.AssetContext' from assembly
'Infrastructure'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during
the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack
trace for more information about the error and where it originated in
the code.
Exception Details: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type
'Infrastructure.Asset.AssetContext' from assembly 'Infrastructure'.
where AssetContext is DbContext from another project inside solution. As I understand, this assembly is not published correctly on Azure. So, I removed all files on Azure Website via Kudu and republish again. The same. I try to connect to remote Db from my local - it works. I tried to rebuild solution, reopen Visual Studio etc. Nothing happened
Why it can be happened, what is wrong and how to fix?
There is a similar SO thread What could be causing a System.TypeLoadException in a Visual Studio Unit Test?, I think which answers are valuable for your current issue.
Please follow the figure below to get the information of what platform you used is on Azure Website, then to select the current mode in Visual Studio to build and publish.
I noticed that since the latest update (Version 6.10.0755) a new critical bug may have been introduced. I'm asking here about it before reporting it just in case they introduced an option that would fix my issue.
My issue is that any time I edit a back end .cs file for a page, when I attach the program to the website instance and attempt to debug, I get the error message "This source file has changed. It no longer matches the version of the file used to build the application being debugged." It feels as though the Just-In-Time compiling feature has been "turned off." Can anyone give me any feedback if it was and how to fix it, or is anyone else experiencing this and should this be reported as a bug in the system?
Edit: I am using an instance which I updated from a previous 6.1 version (6.10.0269). The error is occurring on a graph extension of the SOOrder page. Fully customized pages seem to be fine. Here is a screen shot of the error:
I don't know why the files are detected as changed but you should be able to re-attach to a fresh compiled instance with the following steps.
When attaching in visual studio, the Debug output window will list the compiled runtime code of the ASP application instance. It's in the file 'RuntimeCode_GUID.dll'
Stop IIS and the debugger, this will release the handle to the runtime code dll file
Delete the runtime code dll file
Restart IIS and open the web site in the browser, this will recompile the runtime code
Re-attach the debugger to the website
I am trying to setup Umbraco in Visual Studio 2012 with Nuget package. After package installation when I try to run it getting following exception.

I don't recommend using nuget for Umbraco. Using a CMS like that, you won't want to update through nuget once you're in production. Best keep it manually. Here is a step by step to get setup in VS with Umbraco.
Open Visual Studio, create a new "ASP.NET Empty Web Application", with a folder for the solution. Here is how I set it up:
C:\_Websites\[MyProject] --> All this in source control
C:\_Websites\[MyProject]\Website --> .sln file is here
C:\_Websites\[MyProject]\Website\[MyProject] --> .csproj and /bin are here
Download the version of Umbraco you want from here: http://our.umbraco.org/download
Unzip that folder and place it in that [MyProject] folder
Once this is in place, setup your hosts file 127.0.0.1 myproject.local
Setup a new website in IIS, set the binding, make sure the app. pool is using framework 4
Back in Visual Studio, click Show All Files in the Solution explorer and refresh. Include everything in your project.
Build solution and run the website using myproject.local, should be good to go!
I like this setup because Umbraco is developer oriented and this way I control everything. I have to add the references I need manually and this makes me more familiar with the platform as I work with it.
I know I'm not helping you with you problem directly, but this is the setup I use and I never have issues with this. Hope this helps!
I had the same issue when using VS Development Server - try running the program as administrator after selecting "Local IIS Web Server" in the Web section your project properties as explained here.
It has been a while since I've published my app to Azure. During that time frame, I've upgraded my system from 32-bit to 64-bit meaning a fresh install of Windows and Visual Studio. And Visual Studio Update 3 came out and was applied. When I went to publish an update today, I received the following:
The following exception was thrown trying to publish: Root element is missing.
My web.config file looks fine so I don't think it's this issue.
The app works fine in debug mode so I don't think it's any of the .lsml files as is mentioned here.
And I tried this procedure to hand edit the .ls3proj file but it didn't seem to help.
I previously had an issue trying to publish when I upgraded from the standalone LightSwitch 2011 to Visual Studio 2012. I was able to overcome that issue using the method described in this thread.
Attempting to use this same method resulted in my new project has a full screen error saying "There are critical errors in the application definition metadata..." and 210 individual errors (max errors reached).
The first error, "Cannot create unknown type '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/LightSwitch/2010/xaml/model}GlobalAttributeGroup'." Doesn't make sense because that line in the .lsml is identical from the old project to the new project.
The second error, "Could not find any application definition in the project." Which I do not understand at all.
I am able to publish a simple "Hello, world" style app to my Azure account.
What could be causing this? How can I get more information about exactly which element is causing the issue? The log produced by running devenv /log was not helpful.
Matt Thalman was able to solve my problem over in the Microsoft Forums. The ServiceConfiguration.cscfg and ServiceDefinition.csdef were missing from the project when checked out of version control. Copying those over from a new project restored my ability to publish.
I get the following error message when I attempt to run a test in Microsoft Test Manager.
This adapter will not be used for this
test run. The following error
occurred: The element 'StartupInfo' in
namespace
'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:visualstudio:tracelog'
has invalid child element
'DeleteLogOnClose' in namespace
'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:visualstudio:tracelog'.
Looking in the event log on the (agent and controller - same box) server I see the following error shortly before the above one:
(QTDCAgent32.exe, PID 2700, Thread 7)
Data collector
'datacollector://microsoft/TestImpact/1.0'
logged the following error: This
adapter will not be used for this test
run. The following error occurred:
Object reference not set to an
instance of an object.
I've searched for a solution but cannot find anyone else who encountered this issue.
Anyone have any ideas?? I'm getting desperate!
Thanks
JP
For at least the first error it looks like you have an invalid Collection Plan. Have you modified them at all? Did you change Visual Studio versions at all?
Check both:
Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\DataCollectors\Microsoft.VisualStudio.TraceCollector.dll.config and
Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Team Tools\TraceDebugger Tools\en\CollectionPlan.xml
I would at least try removing that node 'DeleteLogOnClose' altogther to start with.
I had this issue with VS 2010. I was able to resolve it by applying vs 2010 sp1.
