external content type but connect to outlook is disabled - sharepoint

We are unabel to enable the "Connect to outlook" ribbon button for our external list.
The external list is based on a external content type which uses a simple Web service.
The browser based UI works just great as expected but we are unable to get the "Connect to Outlook" ribbon button to becoem enabled.
We have installed all the necessary client side installs, and the connect to outlook button works fine for regualr lists.
We have mapped it to a outlook type "Contact" within SharePoint designer and mapped the single requried field of "LastName".
Unfortunately it still will not enable, has anyone had this problem or no a fix please?

If you are using a newer version of IE, it most likely won't display. Go to the browsers "gear" in the top right hand corner, click and select "Compatibility View Settings" - click add and then close and refresh, that should do the trick.

Custom Ribbon tab missing in Excel

I tried searching for this question but couldn't really find a similar problem.
I have an excel file in which I created a custom ribbon tab and made copies of this file.
Image of the tab
In some of those copies, the tab has gone missing. I was earlier using Excel 2016 and recently migrated to Microsoft 365 and downloaded the latest version of Office. I am not sure if this is causing the problem since some files do still have the custom ribbon.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
Regards
Do you get any UI errors when the tab is missed?
By default, if an add-in attempts to manipulate the Microsoft Office user interface (UI) and fails, no error message is displayed. However, you can configure Microsoft Office applications to display messages for errors that relate to the UI. You can use these messages to help determine why a custom ribbon does not appear, or why a ribbon appears but no controls appear.
To show VSTO Add-in user interface errors you need:
Start the application.
Click the File tab.
Click Options.
In the categories pane, click Advanced.
In the details pane, select Show VSTO Add-in user interface errors, and then click OK.
If you deal with documents with embedded customizations, make sure the protected mode is off when the document is opened. See What is Protected View? for more information.

Blue prism - Not able to Spy SAP Screen element

Trying to spy SAP system through BluePrism for SAP Automation.
When I click Identify button from BluePrism application modeller and move my mouse over to the T-Code textbox , then the text Box is highlighted using a red color box which says the TCode element is recognize by BluePrism tool in SAP test system. however the same is NOT identified for SAP Production system.
We checked both SAP system has same settings maintained to enable SAP GUI Scripting.
Appreciate help!
I don't know if it solves your specific problem, nevertheless:
Pressing alt multiple times will change the spy method, and you'll be able to find what you're looking for (even a method specifically for SAP).
please check if the SAP Id of the item is the same in both systems. You can do it for example by identifying item in both systems. Please return with the answer what's the difference in ID between the systems.
If you are starting out with SAP Automation in your organisation, you will probably not have GUI scripting enabled in the Production system, but it may be in the DEV system.
If you can access SAP then run RZ11 and enter sapgui/user_scripting then it will show a list of values, and the current value should be true. Compare DEV and PRD. You will probably need the SAP Basis admin to change this.

For the best SAP automation performance with Blue Prism you need to enable both Client and Server scripting
i. Enabling Client-Side Scripting
Start the SAP Logon and log in to the SAP server.
Click the 'Customize Local Layout' toolbar button (ALT+F12).
Click Options and in the GUI Options screen select the 'Accessibility and Scripting' node
In the ‘Accessibility’ node ensure that the ‘Use Accessibility mode’ option is enabled.
In the 'Scripting' node ensure that the ‘Enable scripting’ option is the only option set. Notifications must be switched off to prevent popups from blocking the spy mode.
NOTE: If the options 'Notify when a script attaches to SAP GUI' check box and the 'Notify when a script opens a connection' are left checked then when you spy an element in the SAP interface you will see the message “A script is trying to attach to the GUI” every time you attempt to click on it. If you see the message “Scripting support is disabled by the user” then the ‘Enable scripting’ option has not been checked.
Save the settings and restart the SAP GUI. The clientside settings have now been set.
ii. Enabling Server-Side Scripting
Start the SAP Logon and log in to the SAP server.
Run the ‘RZ11’ transaction (type ‘RZ11 ‘and click the green tick button)
Type ‘sapgui/user_scripting’ in the Maintain Profile Parameters window.
Click the ‘Display’ button
Click ‘Change Value’ in the Display Profile Parameter Attributes window.
Type ‘TRUE’ in the ‘New value’ field.
Save the settings and log out from SAP Logon.
Exit from the SAP Logon program (click the red cross button in the toolbar, or click the ‘X’ window button to close the window and the application). You may be prompted to save any unsaved changes, if you haven’t done so already.

SharePoint Link Click Error

Whenever I click on a link in SharePoint, ex: Excel document, SSRS Report, etc.; I always get an error that the page cannot be found. This is because "_layouts/15/download.aspx?SourceUrl=" is the default behaviour on click.
If I wight click and choose Open in New Tab, then it works fine.
How can I remove "_layouts/15/download.aspx?SourceUrl=" from being the default behaviour on click in SharePoint?
This can be caused by a setting in Central Admin which adds headers to the browser to download certain types of files.
You can change this setting by going to Central Admin >> Manage Web Applications >> select your Web Application >> General Settings and under "Browser File Handling" change it from "Strict" to "Permissive" or vice versa.
The automatic downloading forced by "strict" is a security feature, but can create a terrible user experience. Once it's set to "permissive" you can control the behavior for each MIME type individually, but the defaults should be fine.
If you need to change the settings for a MIME type here's link to do so using powershell: http://www.mssharepointtips.com/tip.asp?id=1187

InfoPath 2013 web form doesn't open the browse dialog in the people picker control

I have a user picker control, which when used in preview mode open a dialog to find users when I click on the browse button,
but do nothing when deployed on the SharePoint server.
If i type a user in the input box, the check names button is working and provide multiple choice when it's the case.
As the people picker control was modified in the new SharePoint 2013, could it be a side effect ?
Does anyone have the same problem ?
It worked once I enabled the ribbon in the form options.
Form Options -> Web Browser -> checked Show InfoPath commands in Ribbon or toolbar
Finally got the solution when you disable the ribbon the the browse button is also disabled to overcome this problem
Create a new blank page or a wiki page.
Insert a InfoPath Form WebPart and link this webPart to the desired form.
Now after doing all the changes you can see that the form gets loaded and when you click the browse button it should function normally.
If you want the same look of the form as it is when you open in it in new page or a tab, use a CEWP and add styles to disable unwanted controls like the navigation menus, search bar etc.,

SharePoint list webpart connections option not visible

I want to connect two list webparts. The problem is that when I go to "Edit Web Part -> Connections" this option "Connections" doesn't apperar.
Searching on google found this: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-sharepoint-services-help/connect-data-in-web-parts-HA010024105.aspx. There is a paragraph that says: "The Web Part menu may not be enabled or visible on your Web Part Page for several reasons, including that the Web Part or the zone does not support connections, you are using a browser that is not compatible with Windows SharePoint Services, or connections are disabled on your site"
I think connections are disable on my site. Where can I enable connections on a SharePoint site?
Thanks for your help!
Ha ha. In Internet Explorer 11, you have to view Sharepoint sites in "Compatibility Mode"! Imagine that! Without Compatibility Mode, IE won't display the connection menus - but Firefox and Chrome will! Apparently, this is even a problem with Sharepoint 2013.
I saw this problem even when Connections were enabled.
The workaround was to choose Edit Web Part and Click "Apply". This magically made the connection menu appear. However when the page is reloaded, the workaround needs to be applied again.
I'm not 100% sure if I remember correctly, but I had the same issue last week.
First you need access to the central administration at the sharepoint host.
In there, you have to click on "Application Managment" -> "Manage Web Applications"
Then select your web app and click on Web Part Security in the ribbon. If i remember right you should find an option there to allow connections between webparts.
Here in my experience I found that on wiki page web part connection is not possible, if you want to connect two web parts or two list, go and add your lists, or webpart onto webpart page, and on edit page connect them, ok.
There are some issue with placing filter web parts on a wiki page. The filter web part is not visible and it's impossible to select the webpart menu when in page edit mode.
I encountered it a few times. Like user2780851 states. Enable the publishing features, add a new (publishing) page (so in the 'pages' library not in the 'sitepages' library). When you add the filter webparts on this publishing page all the menu options (and the connection option) will be available.
I was able to get things to redisplay without using compatibility mode. In IE 11, what I had to do was hit F12 to pull up the developer menu, and then under the emulation tab, I switched my user agent to Internet Explorer 10, and then it started working correctly. My problem that lead me to this thread was that my web part menu wasn't displaying at all. This is a serious Microsoft fail. Probably why they are planning to abandon IE altogether. Good riddance, says I.
I've found that this issue has caused a lot of confusion, and led people to incorrectly think that connections between web parts isn't available on wiki pages.
The Connections option will appear as long as you are in the edit mode of any web part on the page - it doesn't have to be a web part which will be involved in the connection.
First you need access to the central administration at the sharepoint host.
In there, you have to click on "Application Managment" -> "Manage Web Applications" Then select your web app and click on Web Part Security in the ribbon. If i remember right you should find an option there to allow connections between webparts.
this is answer right i did it and it works
