Kentico clone and customize cms.file - kentico

Here's what I'm trying to do. When a user uploads a file, i need them to make one of three options. I'll then create a transformation to link to the file, with the option they selected determining the which icon.
I started with cloning the cms.file, and then created the new field i needed for the options. I then uploaded a file using that page type. I don't see my option list (Drop-down list) on the upload screen, or after the file has been saved.
I'm been playing with the Layout but that doesn't seem to help. What am I missing here?

You could create a simple page type that has a file upload field, that would solve your issue, and also you could include your extra field or fields in your new page type.

I'm not sure we have enough information to debug why your custom page type might not be showing the field you added, but a possible workaround: depending on what you are basing the icon on, it may work to just use different icons based on the file type? Kentico even has a method you can use to get a file icon based on the extension:
<%# GetFileIcon(Eval("FileExtension")) %>
Otherwise, maybe you can include some more information about your custom page type such as a screen shot of the fields and of the form tab for that page type. Is the "icon" field you added simply not showing up in the form?

How to implement PXFormulaCombo or Formula Builder control?

As per title. I need to customise AM207500 - Configuration Maintenance screen to add another custom field that will allow me to enter formula similar to QtyRequired field.
I got as far as displaying the correct dialog. But its missing the fields selection.
I believe I'm missing the OnRootFieldsNeeded property. But every time I try to edit the ASPX and manually add this. Its being cleared by Acumatica.
Am I in the right direction ? And how do I force this property in my ASPX ?
TIA
A bit unconventional, but have you tried updating the ASPX page on the custom pages and then clicking on the files section to update the file? This will then ensure the file update occurs before publish and hold the configuration

How to hide URL Selector content tab?

I am creating a custom webpart using the Url Selector from kentico. I want the user to select content just from the Media Library. I went to form controls -> Url Selector -> Properties -> Dialogs_Content_Hide -> Default Value -> Yes and it still showing it in the Web Part. If I select the Dialogs_Web_Hide, Dialogs_Libraries_Hide and select the yes option in the default values, they hide, all except the Content_Dialogs.
Is this a bug? Or its something wrong?
Here is an example of the tabs
First set the form controls properties back to the way they were. If you don't, it will cause all kinds of problems later on.
Secondly, when you create the property in the webpart in the UI, select the URL selector form control for your text fields control. The scroll down just a bit and under the Editing Control Settings you'll see an "Configure" link. Click it. In there you will be able to tell the form control what tabs you want to enable and disable.
To add to Brenden's answer; if this is something you need to do a lot for your current build, then I'd also suggest making a copy of the Url selector form control and customize the properties as you originally mentioned. This way, you leave the default control in place for the system and have a control tailored to your needs. I've done this just now to check with a new form control that I called Media URL selector. Do make sure that you select the same source file as the original control in the Cloned form control file name property - Kentico by default will try to locate a new file called <original filename>_1.ascx. The reason for this is that admin section of your site also makes use of this control, so you may cause a nasty side effect somewhere else in the system.
As for why the settings had no effect; these are the default values you are setting. If you already have the form control in use, then the default setting would have been applied as they originally were. If you find one of the fields in question, you can change the control type to Text box, click Save, and then reassign it to Media URL selector.

SharePoint:FormField in a custom webpart?

On my home page, I want a simple webpart that allow users to quickly fill an entry in a list.
The list have, let's say, three fields : title (text), body (rich text), category (lookup).
I don't want to use the standard DataFormWebPart because I have a bit of code-behind that also fill some technical hidden fields of my list (actually, I don't exclude the DataFormWebPart, but I didn't find how to use it with code behind).
So I started to implement a custom webpart. Because I don't want to have to handle manually each field input, I started to use the FormField control, which automatically choose the rendering control, and provide a Value property with the correct format :
<SharePoint:FormField runat="server" id="fldTitle" FieldName="Title" />
This code is not sufficient, I have to specified the listid :
<SharePoint:FormField runat="server" id="fldTitle" FieldName="Title" ListId="{title list guid}" />
This is working quite correctly. I can in code access the fldTitle.Value to retrieve the user input.
BUT I have to include the webpart in a properly packaged and deployed feature, that can be activated. The webpart will always target the same list, but as the list is also instanciated in the feature (ListInstance element), I can't know the Guid in advance.
I've tried using several technics to set the list ID on the fly, but without success.
I've also "reflectored" the SP dlls to notice FormComponent class are using a "Context" that is set by ListFormWebPart.
Finally, my questions are :
is it the correct way to create a custom input webpart on the home page (not a list custom form) ?
how can I keep the behavior of the FormField (choose the right control and handle the input and its conversion to the storage format) ?
Will I have to create a custom ListFormWebPart ?
May I play with ControlTemplates ?
thanks in advance for the help... I'm struggling with this simple case for days now...
I think that customizing form templates is the easiest way to customize list forms. Since custom form templates are implemented as user controls you can add whatever code you want.

Default content editor in list form doesn't allow image alignment

I need to be able to adjust the alignment of an image in an "Enhanced Rich Text Field" in an announcements list in MOSS 2007. However, the default content editor in the edit form for the list doesn't provide a way to do that. What's the fastest way for me to make sure users can align images? My first thought was to customize the DispForm.aspx and EditForm.aspx pages, but they just have the ListForm web part in the content region and as far as I know, you can't customize the ListForm web part from the designer.
You can't customize the LisForm web part, but you can add a "custom list form" to create a custom edit form. Maybe you haven't seen this article: http://weblogs.asp.net/jan/archive/2006/11/06/Custom-Edit-Forms-for-SharePoint-2007-Lists.aspx
Then you could do some javascript hackery to insert your own button which then calls something similar to existing RTE_InsertImage function to call a pop-up window and do whatever you need (you'll find this function in 12\template\layouts\1033\form.js)
I fail to see (or understand) your issue. I created a new announcements list, created a new item, inserted an image, aligned it to the right, viewed the item and it worked.
Then I proceeded to create a new custom column, choose multiple lines,enhanced rich text field, edited my list item, added an image, centered it, viewed and it was also working.
The only thing I noticed is that the "rich" control does not appears on non-IE browsers.

Using a MulitpleLookupField in MOSS '07 Layout Page

I have a page layout for my MOSS '07 site that I want put a MultipleLookupField in. The field will point to a multiple lookup column in my custom content type that points back to the pages library so I can have a "Related Articles" field.
I've gotten the field to show up correctly--it's even editable when the page is in edit mode! But when you click on the link that shows up there, it display the page's properties view instead of the page itself.
There's lots of properties on the control, but there's little documentation at MSFT as to what they do.
Does anyone know how to change the link's URL to the actual page instead of the properties view?
Here's the tag I'm using:
<SharePointWebControls:MultipleLookupField
ID="MultipleLookupField1"
FieldName="RelatedIssues"
runat="server"></SharePointWebControls:MultipleLookupField>
The link takes me to here: /Pages/Forms/DispForm.aspx?ID=6&RootFolder=*
I want it to take me here: /Pages/faq1.aspx
Unfortunately the lookup control is designed to be compatible with generic lists and does not understand that the document libraries have a file with a specific url associated.
You will probably have to find a custom lookup control on the web or roll your own.
