I can't figure out how to nest my components so that the ViewList fills all the remaining space ( considering that the Label takes a portion of that Pane ).
I'm asking not only for this particular case, but also in general when I want to fit multiple components in a container. Some components have fixed height/width and some have to fill the remaining space. Is there a strategy or dedicated container for that ?

Most of the time I just ( thanks god there is something like scene builder ) spam all the options until I figure out how things seem to work.
I also looked at Vgrow and Hgrow properties but it dosen't seem to always work ( or maybe I'm using it the wrong way ).

Try to set vGrow for the SplitPane that contains panes:
VBox.setVgrow(centerSplitPane, Priority.ALWAYS);

I have been trying to create a ScrollingView on Xamarin.ios for several days now which shrinks and enlarges when I establish it, showing a larger scrollable part and hiding the empty part if necessary. I'm trying to handle it like this:
ScrollView.ContentSize = new CGSize(View.Bounds.Width, ViewBackground.Bounds.Height - (StackEsercizio.Bounds.Height * 1));
This statement works partially, only when placed in the ViewDidAppear and only for the first time. Do you have any advice or solution?

I have taken the horizontal list view.I am able to display the images in list view.It is displaying all the images horizontally.But my requirement is i need to show only 4 images in a row.If there is 5th image then it should come in the second row(for each row there should me only 4 images).How can i do this.Actually i am struck up here.I think you are able to understand my problem.Thank You.

As far as I understand, if you need to allocate only 4 images in a row, and the 5th+ images transfer on the next row, you will be able to use a GridPane :

where you could obviously set position of ImageView. Seems, it works so : you determine your own ListCell, and set its graphic node to be a gridpane, and configure grid pane as you wish.
Also, take a look on a flow pane, possibly, it will help you.
If I'm wrong with a recipe, please, try to describe your trouble again (code/screenshot). I'm not comletely sure about it.
Swing had LayoutManager's separate from the containers. So far as I can tell, JavaFX doesn't do that.
I have a complex structure of nodes that I want the user to be able to toggle between several different layout approaches. Something equivalent to the user specifying flow and all containers are converted to the equivalent of FlowPanes. Then they could choose vertical and everything is laid out vertically.
Is there a way to do this other than swapping out the nodes/recreating the whole structure?
I should note: the hierarchy changes at runtime and it is deeply nested.
I mention Swing because this is straightforward to do in Swing by maintaining a list of all containers in the entire hierarchy, and with a simple loop (or tree traversal without the list) setting a new LayoutManager on them. JavaFX doesn't seem to have this possibility because the layout behavior appears to be internal to the nodes.
Isn't something like this working ?

I guess I missed how you are doing layouts. This is how I envisioned it.

MainLayout
-> CustomLayout 1
-> References to various components. ( Essentially you are not creating all the components for every layout, rather you are referring to them in each layout )
-> CustomLayout 2
-> References to various components. ( More or less a different arrangement of the same components, adds some component references and removes some )
-> CustomLayout 3
-> References to various components.
Making a bold statement, but if there were a tool in JavaFX, how would it do this automatically ? Each template needs to know where it should render a particular component and arguably the easiest way to do this is just create a new template that arranges the components in a different layout and swap the template when user wants to see a different layout.
This is not easy to do in Swing. You would still need to set all the layout constraints on the individual components again, unless your layout is very straightforward.
I don't see how there is much difference in this between swing and javaFX. In JavaFX you would need to add the same controls to a different container (VBox, HBox etc.) but you still don't need to recreate the controls every time. It is a little awkward to find the containers in the middle of the node hierarchy but I'm sure there is some kind of elegant recursive solution :)
GridPanel not rendering correctly
I'm using EditorGridPanels on dynamically generated web pages. ExtJS does not control the ViewPort.
When I wrap the Grid generation code in Ext.onReady(), the grids render perfectly.
If I do not wrap it in Ext.onReady() it renders with subtle layout issues like
the grids are a little too wide
the top toolbar gets cut off on the right
the rows don't quite fit and they shift when clicking a cell
I have tried forcing the grids' layout to get recalculated once the page loads...

...but this does not work.
The reason I'm trying to avoid placing Grid initialization inside Ext.onReady() is that sometimes pages take a long time to fully load every resource, and in these cases the pages look fully loaded apart from the blank spaces where the grids eventually get rendered to!
Any suggestions on what I might try? Right now a complete redesign of the page is not in scope, so I'm looking for something I can do to get the grid to layout like it does when initialized inside onReady()!

You could perhaps mask the page initially with 'loading..' message and remove this in the onReady().
If you're getting issue outside of on the onReady it would indicate something has not loaded when you're trying to render components, this in my experience will lead to further issues down the line.
I want to add large string content to a container dynamically.
There are 60 different contents(strings) to be displayed in this container.
To add the string to container, I am adding a TextArea(empty border with 100% transparency).
The problem is that TextArea offers scroll and I do not want it to scroll. Instead I want to grow(increase height) according to content. I am unable to achieve this.
Can you help me out with this?
Or can I use any other component for the purpose?

You can derive text area and return false for isScrollableY() although it should generally work seamlessly even if you don't do that (since your parent layout is scrollable). Is it possible you changed the text area and don't revalidate the parent form on the EDT?
There are problems with text area layout when it is modified by a separate thread (race condition with the layout code).
First put the TextArea.setSingleLineTextArea(false) , and grow by content true.
