I want to open a shared folder at home for me to access at work, because most ftp is blocked by firewall I though I'd find an inventive way to access my files.
On my remote host (at home) I host a tor hidden service that will forward all traffic to port 445 (SMB).
On my workstation I want to connect to this SMB-files by using this command:
torsocks smbclient -L \\address.onion -p<port#> -N
But this seems to return following warning:
WARNING torsocks[30239]: [connect] Connection to a local address are denied since it might be a TCP DNS query to a local DNS server. Rejecting it for safety reasons. (in tsocks_connect() at connect.c:186)
Connection to address.onion failed (Error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED)
But I can't seem to figure out what causes this error, nor do I know how to fix this.
Please help thanks ;)

Essentially I cannot connect to an SSH server anymore. Whenever I try to connect I get the following error:
ssh: connect to host HOSTNAME port 22: Connection refused
Note that I am able to connect from a different machine. Hence, the issue seems to be client side. Furthermore, I also cannot pull/push to git repositories that are cloned via ssh. Again, when pulling I get the following error:
ssh: connect to host github.com port 22: Connection refused
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.
Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists
It seems like I somehow nuked my SSH installations/config files. I have reinstalled SSH but this did not fix the problem. Any ideas?
Note that you never "connect" to github.com directly (no interactive shell)
As mentioned here, "Connection refused" means
invalid IP address for github.com (manual entry in /etc/hosts or your resolver)
firewall along the way to github.com which blocks the ssh traffic (eg. local firewall or corporate firewall)
So is the other machine (where you do succeed) on the same network?
Check if the other machine SSH config file was not using ssh.gthub.com port 443 (instead of the default github.com:22, typically blocked in a corporate environment).
Hi I in an attempt to connect to more than one aws account I did a number of stuff that has led to this error. "ssh: connect to host abc.com port 22: No route to host" I dont know what the problem is or how to solve it.
This kind of issue occurs mostly due to following reasons:
Maybe your device is not properly connected to internet. Check your internet connection and try to load again.
May be config file has incorrect information. Check your config file has correct information. Check your ssh directory and ensure that ssh key exists.
I am having trouble accessing the weblogic console from a different machine in the same network.
I installed weblogic on a server from a different machine by ssh. The weblogic is up and running, but now I can't access the console on a browser from my machine. Both machines are part of the same network.
I am able to SSH in to the server from my local machine. Ping also works on both machines using each other's IP address.
telnet gives me the following output:
am#Linux-Vostro-3250:~$ telnet 192.x.x.x 7002
Trying 192.x.x.x...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host
This is confusing me, because I am able to access the server using ssh.
I searched everywhere for a possible solution, but I could only find more problems.
In very simple language, how do I resolve this issue or what exactly may the cause be?
There was no firewall cinfigured in the server. I set up a firewall by following the instructions from this site "https://oracle-base.com/articles/linux/linux-firewall"
There are two GUI options but none of them worked for me so better stick to the CLI.
then, using the following command i granted access to my local machine from the server :
# Accept packets from specific host (x.x.x.x).
iptables -A INPUT -s x.x.x.x -j ACCEPT
Now i can access the Weblogic console from my x.x.x.x machine.
I'am running Windows Server 2012 in Azure, and I've configured the FTP server in IIS. When I try to connect the server, it accepts the username and password and log me in but not showing the directory listing.
I've tried using FileZilla FTP client to connect and it saying the same error.

The inbound rule of Azure is this:
The VM's firewall inbound rule.
However when I try to login from the VM's browser it is working fine and showing the directory list.
In Azure, we should deploy the passive mode FTP, we should add data channel ports range in FTP Firewall Support, then add those ports to NSG and windows firewall inbound rules.
By the way, although the windows firewall seems to allow all traffic that’s required, we also need to enable stateful FTP filtering on the firewall:
netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFtp enable
Then restart the FTP windows service and we should be up and running:
net stop ftpsvc
net start ftpsvc
Here is a similar case, same error as you, please refer to it.
Check which port does the FTP site listen on:
It is usually necessary to restart the Microsoft FTP service after enabling the FTP server rules in Windows firewall to have the change take an effect.
Or restarting a whole machine.
See my guide to Installing an FTP Server on Windows using IIS.
The issue was with Azure network NSG. you need to enable the port range on which data is getting transferred.
Added new rule in NSG to open this port range and it worked.
I am trying to add a new server to an existing cluster. I am using community version 2.1.1 on both ubuntu servers on windows azure. I tried to add new server via web interface and via command line. But i am getting following error.
***"Failed to reach erlang port mapper. Timeout connecting to "xx.xx.xx.xx" on port "4369". This could be due to an incorrect host/port combination or a firewall in place between the servers.']***
Port 4369 is open on both servers and iam able to connect to 4369 port on other server using telnet
Got the same error when used the following command.
/opt/couchbase/bin/couchbase-cli server-add --cluster=xx.xx.xx.xx:8091 -u user -p password --server-add=yy.yy.yy.yy:8091 --server-add-username=Administrator --server-add-password=password

What will be the issue? Please help me sort this out.
There are a number of ports required to be open between cluster nodes (in addition to 4369) - I'd suggest ensuring all of the ports listed in the Couchbase Installation Guide - Network ports are open and accessible.
