Can I use DirectShow in Web application? - web

I want to develop an online video website and I think it's good to use DirectShow to implement some functionalities of video processing on that site. So my question is that can DirectShow be used on web application like the video website I just mentioned?

Yes, using ActiveX in Internet Explorer. But that's ugly and deprecated way.
HTML5 have access to webcams, so, are you sure that DirectShow is required?

xamarin forms streaming and recording audio

I have an app that I have written using Xamarin forms. I wanted to know if there is any media
class I could use to record audio as well as stream audio from a server. All articles I have found on the web are platform specific so far.
thanks in advance
There currently isn't any audio support in Xamarin.Forms. You will need to write platform specific code for handling the audio and use the XF DependencyService (or something similar) to call it from your shared code.

What is Open Web Interface for .Net?

I searched the web more trying to know what is OWIN (Open Web Interface for .Net). I got more information that it decouples server and application, but I am still confused and I can't understand it well.
Here's a link to a webcast with video and samples on it:

using Spotify's webAPI in an iOS app

So I'm in the process of developing an iOS app and I wanted to use the Spotify web API for searching and looking up songs in Spotify. However, I can't really tell if that is how to do it or if there would be better ways to do it and wanted to clarify before I began. Thanks in advance!
If you'd like the use the Web API, it works just the same as any other JSON REST API, so a lot of the tutorials out there for doing that on iOS will help you just fine. For converting between JSON and Objective-C data structures, newer iOS versions have NSJSONSerialization, otherwise I can recommend the open-source TouchJSON.
Also, you might want to look at CocoaLibSpotify, which is an Objective-C library for interacting with the Spotify service in a much more integrated way than the Web API — including music streaming. However, it does require a Spotify user be logged in to use.

I want to capture audio for all VoIP applications such as Skype, G-Talk, Msn, etc

I need some links to record both microphone and audio in all the applications. I'm developing a audio recorder feature for an application.
I tried intercepting some APIs like IDirectSound and Wave API but I'm missing something since some applications are recorder and some others aren't.
Can someone send me a clue around this?
Best Regards.
In my compary we've developed an Audio Recorder SDK because it's very difficult to make all the hooks you need to intercept all the applications. You should hook MCI Wave API calls, IDirectSound interface and the new IAudioClient interface, part of the Windows Vista / Windows 7 Core Audio engine.
Our SDK supports Skype 4.x and 5.x, G-Talk and Msn. We've tested with other applications and it's working but we don't support them.
Additionally, we bring some UI features such as handling button clicks and get windows text using the SDK.
I hope this information can help you.

Play Sound Using HTML 5 on Web Application

I'm building a web application to support RPG games, like Dungeons & Dragons. It's
like a AJAX chat room with dice rollers, avatars, shared information, character sheets and
so on...
One of my desired features is to let the game master to play music to all game members.
How can I implement that?
I'm building the application with Asp.NET, using C# 3.5.
In the client side I'm using jQuery (latest version).
I intend to avoid Flash and Silverlight (even if the music resource will be available to
some browsers only).
I tryed to use ogg format, but I don't know how to make it work with my own audio
files. Do I need to implement a stream or something?
The application already is online. If someone want to see it, let me know. But
it's only available in portuguese (Brazil).
Any tip will be apreciated.
You have a better chance of integrating the sound if its a mp3, then using javascript or HTML5.
HTML5 Code:
<audio src="anyone-there.mp3" autoplay controls></audio>
Read more here - http://www.html5laboratory.com/playing-with-audio-files.php
HTML5 is not supported by many browsers, so using a javascript to play the sound would be alot better.
