Why wont MyEclipse let me create a phonegap application? I have installed NodeJS first, then i installed PhoneGap and then i installed MyEclipse but still there is no option under the mobile tab?
I have tried repeatedly but still no luck. Any suggestions?
If you are on MyEclipse 2016 CI 0, the PhoneGap tooling is not there, so you won't be able to create a PhoneGap application. This removal was mentioned in the delivery log and also on the forum.
If you need PhoneGap tooling, you will have to go back to the 2015 release stream for now; there will be different mobile support in a later 2016 release.

I have just downloaded the following node.js x64 bit, phonegap win32.exe and myeclipse and selected the 30 day trail. Selected the General tab and selected mobile but it does not show phonegap. Is there a step I missed out on the installation or do I need to download node.js 32 bit version cause the phonegap desktop app says win32.I would like use Myeclipse to run phonegap projects.
I assume you downloaded the latest release (2016 CI 0). If so, please see this forum entry, which explains the missing PhoneGap Tooling in MyEclipse 2016.
To continue to have the PhoneGap tooling, you need to download MyEclipse 2015, for now.
I have an iOS project that was developed for iOS6.1 and I need to be able to build it for both iOS6.1 and iOS7. I updated all tools from Xamarin and upgraded to OSX Mavericks and iOS 7.0.3 on the iPhone. So at this time I have all latest versions.
When I start to debug the project from VS2012, the app that starts on the iPhone is always an iOS7 app. I added the iOS6.1.sdk to Xcode 5 so back on the Windows machine I can select this SDK in VS2012 for compilation.
But it seems that, whatever SDK I choose in the project settings, it always returns:
-debug -linksdkonly-sdk "7.0"-targetver "6.1" --abi=armv7 (arguments taken from the mtbserver.log on the building host)
If I build the project with Xamarin Studio on the Mac the behavior is as expecting when changing the version of the SDK.
Is there a way to get around this when building remotely with VS2012?
That's a bit uncommon and it sounds like a bug - you should file it on bugzilla so it will be confirmed (and fixed if it's the case).
Most people I know install several Xcode side-by-side, i.e. they do not copy an old .sdk directory into a newer Xcode release.
You might want to try this (the trick is to rename Xcode.app before installing the new one) and then set the VS addin to the older (e.g. Xcode46.app) directory when you need to build for iOS 6.1.
I have Windows 8 x64 (not pro), VS2012 Pro Update 3, WP8 SDK and cannot create any new Windows Phone project.
I tried the following to no avail (in admin as well as non-admin accounts)
(numerous times, in different permutations)
Uninstall all Silverlight SDKs and components
Uninstall WP8 SDK
Uninstall all VS2012 components
Reboot
Clean registry
Reinstall VS2012 Pro \ Update VS2012 \ WP8 SDK (with reboots each time) Did not work
Reinstall VS2012 Pro \ WP8 SDK \ Update VS2012 (with reboots each time) Did not work.
Started devenv /ResetSettings (did not help)
Started devenv /ResetSkipPkgs (did not help)
Updated Silverlight (before\after all installs --different permutations)
Nothing helped. Exhausted all possible "solutions" listed on various sites.
I can open and run all other project types EXCEPT any of Windows Phone template projects. It does not even create a solution.
Only extensions are Microsoft Web Developer Tools. NuGet Package Manager and Visual Studio Extensions for Windows Library for JavaScript. Clean install, no third party extensions.
Nothing shows up under my Tools > Extensions and Updates > Updates (all updates done)
Finally able to create a new Windows Phone App project!!
Solution: UNINSTALLED NuGet (as updates to it did not work)
Since I am a new user, had to wait for 8 hours to be able to post this as an ANSWER
#MohamedThaufeeq, thanks for pointing to that direction. In my earlier attempts, I did not try to open a WinPhone app immediately after uninstalling NuGet. I did updates on it, did reinstalls of it, but did not remove it completely.
If there is a tools installation problem you can go into Control Panel's Programs, find the SDK there, and choose Repair. Then reboot your computer to play it safe. There are other threads in this forum related to SDK installation problems. Be sure to follow all the recommendations, including installing the SDK 8.0 last.

Regarding this error message in the context of having a problem with a specific project build, this can happen sometimes with the Xaml. In which case you can try a Clean build then a Rebuild.
Hope this helps...
There wasn't any updated for NuGet. But uninstalling it from (tool->Extensions and Updates) and then re-installing it worked for me.
I'm having trouble getting started with PhoneGap on windows 8, VS 2012, namely:
I don't know how to install the templates
I open the template projects I've downloaded from PhoneGap, but they are in compatible with VS2012
I don't know where to start in respect to creating my first simple CRUD application
I want to connect to a WCF API and make some calls
How to publish the result allowing installation on many devices:
I mainly want to use iPhone and Android devices
How do I get started with PhoneGap?
#Smithy, Microsoft just made it possible to develop Cordova apps with Visual Studio 2013 Update 2.
Its just a preview as far as I understand, but go have a look.
If you have the latest version of Visual Studio installed, you need to go to Microsoft'd download page and download the installer:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42675
This comes along with documentation on how to get started and how to install and set it up in VS 2013.
Good luck.
UPDATE:
With the release of Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition along with Update 4, MS has made it easier than ever to create Cordova project....and best thing of all is it's FREE!!!!
Benefit is that if your used to VS like me, this is a comfortable environment, and its super easy to get started.
To get access to these templates, follow the steps when creating a new project in VS, and you will be prompted to install additional software, including but not limited to SDK Manager, adt, iTunes, emulators etc..
After these are installed, it is now simple to create projects, edit and run them in the included RIPPLE emulator.
These projects can also in addition be deployed to your device from VS.
To check if your device is picked up on your PC, open a cmd and run "adb devices" to see if your device is picked up on your PC and a list of connected devices.

Q: Who can use Visual Studio Community?
A: Here’s how individual developers can use Visual Studio Community:
Any individual developer can use Visual Studio Community to create their own free or paid apps.
Here’s how Visual Studio Community can be used in organizations:
An unlimited number of users within an organization can use Visual Studio Community for the following scenarios: in a classroom learning environment, for academic research, or for contributing to open source projects.
For all other usage scenarios: In non-enterprise organizations, up to 5 users can use Visual Studio Community. In enterprise organizations (meaning those with >250 PCs or > $1 Million US Dollars in annual revenue), no use is permitted beyond the open source, academic research, and classroom learning environment scenarios described above.
Thanks Microsoft!
You can use VS to edit the html, css, and javascript files, but I don't believe there are any VS project templates available. At least I've never seen any.
But, you won't be able to compile and deploy. The templates for Android for instance are eclipse project templates since phonegap is building a java application in order to deploy to android.
If you want to develop for android, follow the getting started guide from Phonegap ( I can't get you a link right now due to firewall issues). The files you put in the www folder will be the html, css, and javascript files for your project and you can use anything you want to edit them, including VS.
You can create PhoneGap application using
Cordova vs plugin
Telerik App Builder

RedGate has a product called Nomad which integrates beautifully with Visual Studio 2013.
It makes use of the PhoneGap Build cloud service. With this approach you don't need all the platform SDK's on your system. Works very well.
See this video. Unfortunately RedGate recently stopped supporting Nomad. I'm hoping Microsoft's new offering will offer similar capability.
I am new to PhoneGap I have implemented PhoneGap Facebook plugin for Android and iPhone using phonegap-plugin and editors like Eclipse and XCode. But I want to know:
Is there any other way of installing plugins using config.xml building app with build.phonegap?
The PhoneGap people have been talking about adding plugin support to PhoneGap Build for some time, but have not released anything yet. Here is what they were saying around April 2012:
