Azure Custom Domain (Namecheap) not working without www - azure

I thought I had all my mappings perfectly done:
I'm able to add the www.mydomain.me to azure but not mydomain.me. Is there something I'm missing?
Edit: When I attempt to point to mydomain.me in my broswer, I get the following error message:
Error 404 - Web app not found.
The web app you have attempted to reach is not available in this Microsoft Azure App Service region. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. The web app owner has registered a custom domain to point to the Microsoft Azure App Service, but has not yet configured Azure to recognize it. Click here to read more.
2. The web app owner has moved the web app to a different region, but the DNS cache is still directing to the old IP Address that was used in the previous region. Click here to read more.
Thanks

It's hard to tell what's wrong since you've hidden the settings. Here's what should work:
A Record points to the IP address found on the Azure portal
CName awverify points to awverify.yourservice.azurewebsites.net
CName www points to yourservice.azurewebsites.net

Error 404 when accessing website by traffic manager URL

Hi, I am trying to configure a basic traffic manager on my azure account. But I always got 404 not found when I using the traffic manager URL.
I have two app service for the TM endpoints:
1. xxxus.azurewebsites.net
2. xxxeu.azurewebsites.net
TM Url is:
xxxtm.trafficmanage.net
I was able to use www.whatsmydns.net to check what the tm is heading to.
But when I use the TM url, I got this:
Did anyone has the same issue? Looking forward to your help
Thank you
I ran into the exact same thing and just found the solution - the app service plan needs to be at least a standard SKU. I was using a free tier, and that was causing my 404.
From Microsoft's Traffic Manager documentation:
Only Web Apps at the 'Standard' SKU or above are eligible for use with Traffic Manager. Attempts to add a Web App of a lower SKU fail. Downgrading the SKU of an existing Web App results in Traffic Manager no longer sending traffic to that Web App.
Currently, you could not add web apps from different subscriptions to the same traffic manager configuration since It is not possible to use Web Apps from multiple subscriptions with the same domain name. Refer to this. You can check this on your side. If so, you can remove one website from your endpoint, then add the website to the same subscriptions.
Moreover, the 404 error always happen due to the domain name could not be resolved by its IP address. It may be one of the following reasons:
The custom domain configured is missing an A record and/or a CNAME record.
The browser client has cached the old IP address of your domain. Clear the cache and test DNS resolution again. On a Windows machine, you clear the cache with ipconfig /flushdns.
You can follow the quickstart to create a Traffic Manager profile, then follow this to verify your traffic manager settings.
I encountered similar issue. My problem is one of my app service is a free tier, so I scaled it up to standard one. And delete my traffic manager and reinstalled and add the service endpoint again, the issue gone.
It's strange. Nslookup will take you to the right web app but the browser will show 404. Changing the app service plan to 'Standard' SKU fixed it for me.

Azure custom domain validation timeout

I am trying to use my godaddy domain with azure web app. I create cname in godaddy dns settings. When I try to use this domain in azure portal I see two errors after validate button click without any description. In browser Dev tools I see two errors in console. It is two failed with 408 (timeout) error requests to manage.azurewebsites.net...
I try do that from different browsers and internet connections, but the result is the same.
What I'm doing wrong? How to setup custom domain for my azure web app (I see the instructions on learn.microsoft.com)?
I could not reproduce your issue. To bind it with my Azure Web App, I just add a CNAME record at domain DNS Zone tab. Here is my steps:
Then I can validate my custom domain in Azure Portal.
Please verify DNS before input it in azure portal via Dig Web Interface. Do you have any differences with your steps. If you have more concerns, please feel free to let me know.

Adding custom domain to Azure Web App (new portal) won't verify

I have been trying for 3 days now to link custom domains, caretopets.com and www.caretopets.com, to an Azure Web app - the issue is that I am was not able to verify it (I get both Domain ownership and Hostname availability errors).
The domain is newly purchased from godaddy. I read several articles, and also have other web app with different domain linked. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
I added the required A, TXT and CNAME records as seen here:
I checked the records with digwebinterface:
The only thing is that there are some strange additional CNAMEs.
I also tried to verify a domain that is already linked to another web app in the same subscription, and even that one won't verify as well.
Any suggestions on where to go from here would be helpful.
link a custom domain caretopets.com and www.caretopets.com to an Azure Web app I am was not able to verify it
To map custom domain to web app, I create the DNS record(s) like this. I could validate Domain successfully.
As far as I know, it should report success or detailed error with prescriptive guidence on how to fix the error while checking for Domain ownership and Hostname availability in Azure portal.
Please make sure whether you point to correct IP address and Azure app's default domain name.
Besides, this article shows us how to manually map a custom domain name to web app with detailed steps, please refer to it.

A domain that used to be on Azure now has new dns but Azure 404 error still shows up. What to do?

My domain was previously hosted in another place (some years ago) and was connected to Azure. Some days ago I successfully changed the dns to a different hosting company but it seems I still get a webpage related to Azure when I try to access the website on my browsere. This is what is displayed:
Error 404 - Web app not found.

btw. I clicked the links and they are not helpful.
I have no idea how Azure works, but I have access to the login information. When I log in on portal.azure.com everything seems to be empty, there are no apps, only a canceled subscription and really nothing to see.
If I click "All resources", I get "No resources to display".
My first thought is that this is some kind of a cache problem, but I have cleared the cache in my browsers, tried different ISP and different computers in different continents, but I always get the same error message.
If I check whois.com and who.is I can see that the new dns is correct and the only thing that should be displaying is the temporary index.html page that is currently in the htdocs folder for the new host.
Do you know what I need to do to remove any connection to Azure and display my new website?
It's solved.
I just needed to edit my dns entries. For some reason, they were still pointing to an old IP.

Azure domain configuration

I have an APP that was awarded the gorunning.pt domain. It happens that when I call the gorunning.pt domain without the www everything works, when I add the www http://www.gorunning.pt/ I receive the page 404 application not found.
I've already set the DNS CNAME for the application of IP , also tried the url gorunning.azurewebsites.net defined by Azure , created a type A registration.
This is expected. Your DNS configuration is correct. However the Azure Web App's front-end doesn't recognize the www sub-domain as it is not mapped in the portal.
You will also have to map the www.gorunning.pt to your web app gorunning.azurewebsites.net in the Azure Portal. :)
From the dig web interface, it seems the domain has mapped to the Azure web app. However it shows 404 not found. As I know your custom domain maps to an empty web site, so the easiest way is deleting your existed web site then custom domain to the new web site again. If you still encounter the same issue, please submit a ticket via the following screenshot.
