I am running VS 2013 Community Ed. on Windows 7 64-bit. The following is my use case:
I am developing in Dynamics CRM 2011 and have downloaded Sencha CMD to add functionality to my solutions. I was advised to also download IIS Express.
I have figured out the version to download but am unsure of the options to check for the download.
The following is a screenshot of the options:
Some advisement would be great.
When you're running x64 version of Windows then it's best to download the second one.

In late March Microsoft announced the release of the Azure SDK version 2.9.
On that page, as well as from within Visual Studio 2015, I'm invited to download and install it.
If I do so, the Web Platform Installer (5.0) fires up and shows me this:
That's strange...I don't want version 2.8.2...I already have it.
So I click the "back" button in Web Platform Installer and try to find 2.9 manually. At the time of writing, I'm seeing this:
That is, in the Web Platform Installer's list of products, version 2.9 is not there.
I'm on Windows 10 and using Visual Studio 2015 (with the latest update 2). My Web Platform Installer is version 5 and its primary feed is set as "default". Normally I have no problems installing an updated Azure SDK in this way.
I tried deleting the installer cache in Web Platform Installer (no help).
Can anybody give me a hint as to what might be happening here? Is anybody able to reproduce it (not finding v2.9 in the products list on WPI) on their machines? Could it be possible that v2.9 has been accidentally removed from the MS servers...any way to check this directly at the source?
For some reason it is not shown in the Web installer. This are the steps to fix it:
1 run a reset on the installer:
"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\WebPlatformInstaller.exe" /reset
2 run the following registry fix:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WebPlatformInstaller]
"Install"=dword:00000001
"ProductXMLLocation"="http://www.microsoft.com/web/webpi/5.0/webproductlist.xml"
This seems to be a known issue. See the comments on this page:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-visual-studio-azure-tools-and-sdk-2-9/
Please search "2.9" in Web Platform Installer search pane. You will be able to see "Microsoft Azure SDK for .Net (VS2013)-2.9.6" in searched results.
When I try to Install Application Request Routing I get an error "IIS Version 7.0 or greater is required to install Microsoft Application Request Rounting 3.0". Windows 10 has IIS 10.0, so it should be possible, but I guess that Microsoft hasn't fixed the version check yet. Are there any workarounds available for this?
Windows version: Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview. Build 10074.
Bit of hacky solution if it suits your requirement.
Open MSI file in tool called ORCA and remove Launch condition (highlighted in screenshot) as show in screenshot. Save modified MSI and use it for installing on Win10 preview machine.
I am following the Microsoft tutorial for creating my first sharepoint 2013 app.
I have installed on a windows 2008 R2 Server Sharepoint 2013 RTM, done all the farm config stuff RTM, and installed all of Visual Studio 2012 ultimate and update 1 and restarted the server.
I have also followed the instructions for "How to: Set up an on-premises development environment for apps for SharePoint" which is at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp179923.aspx (I have to do this as our dev environment has no internet access)
I have got to the point where running Visual Studio as an Administrator I have named it and chosen "sharepoint-hosted" and validated the server and clicked finish (Step 5).
Instead of getting the next step where I open the AppManifest.xml file I get a message saying "An error occurred whilst trying to load some required components, Please ensure the following prerequisite components are installed. Microsoft Web Developer Tools and Microsoft Exchange Web Services"
I have checked VS setup and web developer tools is definetely installed (the only option I have would be to remove it)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know Im a noob here (this is my first post) but I have googled this and searched stack exchange and found nothing that helps me.
Got it after a few trial and errors
With an offline install you have to download the Exchange Web Services component. I had downloaded "EwsManageApi" and installed that.
As the error message specifically refers to Exchange Web services, I looked at other versions and tried the older 1.1 and the 32 bit version, but they didn't work either, ** until ** I relised in my haste that I installed using the default settings (which is for the current user) and not for all users of the machine.
So installing EwsManagedApi32 for all users on a 64 bit server does the trick (for me)
I tried reinstalling the EWS Managed API for All Users, but that didn't solve it for me. In the end the solution was simple:
Just uninstall BOTH the EWS Managed API and the Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2012. After that reinstall ONLY the Office Developer Tools. This time the Web Platform Installer will ensure the correct EWS Managed API is also installed.
I also wrote a small blog about this problem:
https://leonzandman.com/2013/02/07/prerequisite-components-error-when-creating-a-visual-studio-2012-sharepoint-2013-app-project/
Answer for the year of 2014:
Install Microsoft Exchange Web Services Managed API 2.1 (the latest version I can find at this time).
I am facing problem while installing Sharepoint 2010 Server on Windows-7 Professional I have followed the steps given in this MSDN page. Still I am getting the following error while trying to run Setup.exe.
Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks
It seems that SharePoint Server 2010 is only compatible with
Windows Server 2008 x64. But it's not. check this.
Source: Installing Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 on Windows 7 x64
It is much simple to do this. Just a little work and your SharePoint Installation ready to work on Windows 7 64 bit Client OS.
You can simply install SharePoint Server 2010 on your client OS just by modifying a config file.
Copy CD contents to a folder on your hard drive and Follow following steps:
Go to the Files folder
Go to the Setup folder
Open config.xml
Add the following line before the closing </configuration> tag
<Setting Id="AllowWindowsClientInstall" Value="True"/>
Save the file and Run the Setup.exe. now it will work fine.
Remember: These lines are Case Sensitive so Write them correct.
On Windows 7, install the following additional prerequisites required before running Setup.exe:
Microsoft FilterPack 2.0. At a command prompt, type the following:
installation directory folder\PrerequisiteInstallerFiles\FilterPack\FilterPack.msi
Microsoft Sync Framework
SQL Server Native Client
Windows Identity Foundation (Windows6.1-KB974405-x64.msu)
Chart Controls (this is not required if you are going to install SharePoint Foundation 2010).
SQL Server Analysis Services - ADOMD.Net (this is not required if you are going to install SharePoint Foundation 2010).
For more detailed installation tutorial go through MSDN - Setting Up the Development Environment for SharePoint 2010 on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008
It seems like your copy of Sharepoint 2010 Server is intended to be installed onto a machine running Win Server 2008 SP2 or later. Not win 7. Either upgrade your machine or see if there's a more compatible copy of share point server.
I am setting up a Virtual Machine for Sharepoint 2010 development (and then subsequently learn Sharepoint development). I have a freshly installed Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise VM.
Are there any good blog posts or tutorials on what to install and how to configure all the Sharepoint stuff for development? Or should I just install Sharepoint and SQL Server with the default options and that will be good enough?
There's an extremely good guide on this MSDN page:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869.aspx
You don't need a separate installation of SQL Server, as the "stand-alone" installation option will install a SQL Server Express instance for you.
Don't forget to install the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SDK from the Microsoft download centre:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=f0c9daf3-4c54-45ed-9bde-7b4d83a8f26f&displaylang=en
And don't forget to also install Visual Studio 2010.
Try
http://www.sharepointnutsandbolts.com/2010/05/tips-for-building-sharepoint-2010-base.html
You can combine it all into one machine if you want too.
The default options are sufficient unless they point out otherwise in the articles. For learning you can just "click next" for the installs and be fine.
Fortunately doing a SharePoint 2010 dev build is a little more straightforward than previous versions. However, here's guidance straight from the horse's mouth!
Happy SharePointing!

Go to the below blog, all your doubts will be clarified.. You no need to install Sql Server seperately, while installing SP2010, it will install Sql server express by default.
