zeppelin with spark 1.5.2 standalone cluster error - apache-spark

I have downloaded the Zeppelin 0.5.5 binary into a redhat 6.3 instance. I have also built spark 1.5.2 successfully. Now, I would like to have zeppelin use that spark version instead of the precompiled one that comes with zeppelin.
For that, I have edited conf/ so that it contains only this uncommented line:
export SPARK_HOME=/home/eron/spark-1.5.2/
I have also edited the zeppelin GUI so that now I have Master set:
master = spark://master:7077
I then hit restart and tried to go through the tutorial again:
val bankText = sc.textFile("/mnt/zeppelin-0.5.5-incubating-bin-all/bank.csv")

Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Version of Zeppelin 0.5.5 will not work with any Apache spark version higher than 1.5.0 so you will need to download Zeppelin 0.6.0 from github and recompile using the command "mvn clean package -Pspark-1.5 -DskipTests" Zeppelin 0.5.5 builds Spark 1.4 by default.

Exception occured while writing delta format in AWS S3

I am using spark 3.x, java8 and delta 1.0.0 i.e. delta-core_2.12_1.0.0 in my spark job.
data is persisted in AWS S3 path in "delta" format of parquet.
Below are details of Jars I am using in my spark job.

So what is wrong here ?
how to debug and fix this issue ? Any help is highly appreciated.
You're using Delta version that is incompatible with your Spark. The last version of Delta working with Spark 2.4 was version 0.6.x (0.6.2 as I remember, although I didn't check). See the versions compatibility matrix for more information.
P.S. It really makes no sense to use Spark 2.4 in 2022nd - Spark 3.0+ has a lot of optimizations compared to 2.x...

Apache Zeppelin - Zeppelin tutorial failed to create interpreter - Connection refused

I am trying to test Zeppelin 0.6.2 with a Spark 2.0.1 installed in a Windows Server 2012.
I started the Spark master and tested the Spark Shell.
Then I configured the following in the conf\zeppeling-env.cmd file:
set SPARK_HOME=C:\spark-2.0.1-bin-hadoop2.7
set MASTER=spark://100.79.240.26:7077
I have not set the HADOOP_CONF_DIR and SPARK_SUBMIT_OPTIONS (that is optional according to the documentation)
I checked the values in the Interpreter configuration page and the spark master is Ok.
When I run the Zeppelin tutorial --> "Load data into table" note I am getting a connection refused error. Here is part of the messages in the error log:

In the Zeppelin logs there is only one file for zeppelin, the interpreter is an external Spark installation, which is not logging any error because it is never reached by the interpreter process.
I read some suggestion about the max and min memory of the JVM but I could not fix it yet.
Any comment will be appreciated.

Intellij connect hortonwork spark remotely failed

I have a hortonwork sandbox 2.4 with spark 1.6 set up. Then I create Intellij spark development environment in windows using hdp spark jar and scala 2.10.5. So both spark and scala version are matched between my windows and hdp environment as indicated here. And my Intellij dev environment works with local as Master.
Then I'm trying to connect hdp in windows using

.setMaster("spark://10.33.241.160:7077")
And I get below error information and have no clue to resolve it. Please help!

It turns out I need to setup my hortonworks Spark as master server every time server restart. Then use my intellij dev environment to connect with hdp as slave. Just run ./sbin/start-master.sh in hdp as this link.

I can telnet port 7077 from zeppelin machine. Also this is my local vm machine so should not be issue with firewall, also disable all firewall.
Please let me know the issue.
Perhaps you can go thorough the bug reported here https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-305 .
Taking an excerpt from that bug
I faced the same issue when I try to use Spark 1.5.1 under the latest version (0.6.0) of Zeppelin.
Following Dongjoon Hyun's suggestion, I set ZEPPELIN_MEM as -Xmx4g (the same value as SPARK_DRIVER_MEMORY in spark/conf/spark-env.sh) in zeppelin/conf/zeppelin-env.sh
export ZEPPELIN_MEM=-Xmx4g
As a result, the java.net.ConnectException problem is solved. Thanks!

Spark 1.1.0 on cdh5.1.3 does not work in yarn-cluster mode

I am having CDH 5.1 (Hadoop 2.3.0-cdh5.1.3) installed on my cluster, version:
I have installed and configured a prebuilt version of Spark 1.1.0 (Apache Version), built for hadoop 2.3 on my cluster.
when I run the Pi example in the ‘client mode’, it runs successfully, but it fails in the ‘yarn-cluster’ mode. The spark job is successfully submitted, but fails after polling the application master for sometime:

. Failing the application.
When I go to node Manager logs:
Log Type: stderr
Log Length: 87
Error: Could not find or load main class org.apache.spark.deploy.yarn.ExecutorLauncher
Can you please suggest any solution.Do you think I should compile the spark code on my cluster. Or should I use Spark provided with CDH5.1.
Any help will be appreciated!
spark-shell does not work with spark yarn-cluster mode. You should add --master yarn-client
Example:
path/to/pyspark --master yarn-client
