I have been struggling with getting flux/react to work properly and thought that my npm, node or gulp versions were to old.
So I updated everything to the latest version and now I get the following error when i run gulp in ALL my projects:
module.js:340
throw err;

I have:
Uninstalled node and gulp through npm.
Uninstalled npm.
Installed node and npm via https://nodejs.org/en/
Installed gulp through npm
And it's still not working..
Anyone have any ideas?
As #keithRousseau pointed out, when I reinstalled the packages I forgot to install them with the parameter -g to install them as global packages.
Reinstalled them with -g and now it works!

I have an Ubuntu box with node - v 9.5.0 and npm - 5.6.0 versions. I am trying to use expressjs (http://expressjs.com), but unable to run it. It works fine for node v 4.x.x.
$ express -h

What is it that I am missing here?
Ubuntu's packages seem to be outdated.
Installing using apt-get node-express-generator gives this error.
Installing using npm i -g express-generator works fine.
Please try to follow the preceding steps.
Install the current version of NodeJS
Uninstall all modules with npm uninstall and rm -fr ~/.npm
Reinstall express-generator
Hope it helps.
Trying to run my project using gulp (havent used gulp before and have inherited an exisiting project).
I install the dependencies into the wordpress theme directory.
Running gulp watch throws this error:

I have tried to update npm but not sure if it is fine or the problem (still).
I also tried to ins install this module with npm -g install connect
What should I try next?
Try deleting the node-modules folder then reinstall npm install connect --save-dev Then retry running gulp
I was using npm few days ago and all worked fine, but I'm suddenly getting an error when trying to do any npm command.

I can't do any npm command, even npm -v show this error, node version is 8.0.0
I'm using latest version of macOS
One of the problems is that I didn't install node using homebrow so uninstalling and installing it again is the last solution for me.
Any help with this?
When on a Mac, use nvm to install node, and switch node versions.
Also can nicely reinstall packages when upgrading versions. nvm install 6 --reinstall-packages-from=5
This is better than homebrew, which I would not suggest for Node on a Mac.
I've just installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 15.10, node 4.2.2 and npm 2.14.7 (with nvm) on a new machine. I have installed webpack and webpack-dev-server globally and installed my project dependencies with npm i.
Now when I try to run my node server I get the following errors:
module.js:339

Any suggestions please?
Node.js searches for modules in the ./node_modules/ directory in the path where the program is.
For example if you script is here /home/user/scripts/somescript.js you should have /home/user/scripts/node_modules/.
Just do npm install errno in here /home/user/scripts/.
It seems that something had gone wrong with my npm install and my project dependencies were only partly installed. Just running npm install again didn't fix it. I did an npm cache clean, removed my node_modules directory and then ran npm install again. The problem was then resolved.
I am going through my first node.js project. I've installed lockit , have a app.js file, and when I try to run it I get this error
module.js:340
throw err;
^ Error: Cannot find module 'lockit-mongodb-adapter'

I am quite certain I have lockit-mongodb-adapter installed.
You need to install the module. Cd to the root of your app directory and run this command and make sure lockit-mongodb-adapter is in your node modules directory.
npm install lockit-mongodb-adapter
Another thing you can do if you are certain it is installed is double check to see what is installed by running this command:
npm list
And this one to see what is installed globally:
npm list -g
Update:
I was able to reproduce the issue you where having. And to resolve it I deleted the module from the node moules directory. And re-installed with the following command:
npm install lockit-mongodb-adapter -save
It now shows up in npm list with no issues:
