Text Icon Transparency issue with SVG file - svg

I am trying to create a simple SVG icon (composite path) using Adobe Fireworks.
Icon shall comprise of a circle with an alphabet in its centre.
The background of circle is supposed to be transparent but that of that should be would be the outline color of circle.
When i am trying to merge both elements as composite path using Join then the text fill is lost.
Icon is supposed to be a Single Composite Path only as it is then required to be imported in my Javafx application.
I am attaching both expected icon and current icon being created for understanding issue
Any possible solution for same would be really helpful
Thanks in advance

Why is my icon not centered in the svg preview?

I try to make custom icons for an app. I use Illustrator to create compound paths. Therefore I use FontAwesome-Pro.5.13.0 icons. When I export my custom icons in SVG format they seem to have a different padding (see the picture below). Left is the exported icon which has the same compound path as the right one. The only difference is that I exported the FontAwesome to svg.
Anyone got an idea what's happening?

Is there a way to put a background inside SVG

I need to make an SVG that is to be used as a background-image with "cover", so the tile in the mosaic could be rescaled.
I'd like to have the icon at a fixed size and the posibility to always fill with a background color, because, to make matters more complicated, my image is going to be inside a container that is inside the tile
this is my example
my icon should go inside that red outlined box, fixed size and the background in gray
could i get that done?

Changing only some path/group fills in a background image using svg-sprites

I'm using svg as a background image (logo) in a WP menu plugin and i want it to change a color (fill) when hovered. As it's a free version of the plugin i can't use image, object etc - i have to use my svg as a background image. I've to support IE (9+) so masks/filters are out of question and i'm pretty much left with svg-sprites. That's okey, i know how to do it (using use/xlink:href).
But now comes a tricky part. I want my svg to change only fills of some groups/paths while hovered leaving others untouched. I can only change colors of all paths/groups together in a background image with svg-sprites afaik. Is there a way to do it? Thank you in advance!

Hacking SVG Fonts

I know nothing about SVG. Even less about SVG fonts. However, I need to use them in my web project.
I've created a custom font with fontello and analyzed the format of the SVG file in a text editor. Then I opened an SVG file created with Inkscape (saved as plain SVG) and used its d attribute to create a new glyph in the font.
I couldn't believe that it actually worked ... well, almost ... the glyph appears flipped vertically. I have tried flipping it in Inskcape. However, when I save the file, the original d attribute is left as it was. It just adds a transform with a matrix that flips the coordinate system, but which does now work in the <glyph> tag.
Is there any way I could apply this transformation in the font file, or in Inkscape, to change the d attibute?
Thanks.
I found that, in Inkscape, ungrouping and then grouping the object applies the transformation to the coordinates.

How to Scale SVG rectagle to fit the svg text element

So here is the problem:
I am trying to create dynamic buttons that have text. The text will be generated dynamically so the svg object doesn't know the size of the text. There are two things that I am looking to do and I hope that SVG will do this
First I want the left and right edge of the svg element to stay the same even if I scale the element horizontally
The problem is that I have to set a width on the svg otherwise it doesn't show up when I display the page. Also on the Home and blog buttons you can see that the edge is compressed. I want the edge to stay the same no matter how much text is in the element.
Also I can't seem to set the scale or width properly even with a javascript .getComputedTextLength()
Any help or a point in the right direction would be very helpful
Buttons that are sized to their text content is functionality that can be adressed with Raphael's getBBox()
The use of this js library means that you are implicitly using SVG or VML and this functionality is more easily addressed by referencing this JavaScript library
To see the getBBox() function in action you could visit the Autobox example here:
