There are a number of extensions that demonstrate taking a screenshot of the web page currently displayed.
Is it possible for any extension to take a screenshot of the entire display, not just of what's being displayed in Chrome itself? If so, how can it exactly be done by the extension?

I'm making a Chrome Extension which changes the layout of a website. When my extension is activated and the website loads, you can briefly see the real website then it switches to my modified version loading in all the CSS and JS from the Chrome Extension. Though I've used other extensions that do something similar but have it displayed before anything actually shows the real website. One example is Shine for Reddit. When Reddit shows, it shows the extensions version of the website right at the start. How can I do this?
I would like to make a two steps operation on a video URL by using chrome extension. First, paste the URL to another website's textbox.(For example, https://www.urlgot.com/). And then click the "search" button. Could I do it automatically by chrome extension? Is this operation allowed by chrome? I got a list of URLs of video and corresponding captions to download. So I want to do it automatically by calling related websites. I just wonder these could be done by chrome extension.
Thank you for any advice.
I am a little confused whether this api suits my need. I want a common place to view my logs, instead of going around to the popup's console, the background page's console, etc...
Then I noticed that you can include several background scripts. In which case, which page does the api give us?
Chrome does not support multiple background pages in a chrome extension. It supports multiple background scripts. But it does not supports both background page and background scripts at the same time. See below the screenshots.
Error shown when we try add background page and script at the same
time.
Error shown when we try add multiple background pages.
Now coming back to your question which page getBackgroundPage() retrieve?
Since chrome supports only one background page it will return the only page that you include in you manifest.json.
I'm trying to build a chrome devTools extension (an extension to the dev tools). The main intent is to create a new sidebarpanel under the "Elements" panel, where I can manipulate data from the Elements panels.
The goal is to observe the CSS changes which the user makes in the "styles" sidebarpanel, and reflect the same in the respective file on disk (I know there is a way to achieve this using source-maps concept. But I'm trying this way though).
I'm new to writing chrome extensions and trying to understand how I can achieve this. I have gone through chrome devtools extension docs, tutplus and many other sites where there are good explainations about writing chrome devtools extensions. But I'm still trying to figure out how I can monitor/observe the styles sidebarpanel in another new panel, and get the modified style info and respective file details. So that I can persist the same to respective physical file.
Thanks!
it seems you can not do it.
you can get ElementsPanel which represents the Elements panel with chrome.devtools.panels.elements, but it only have one event: onSelectionChanged, nothing with the styles sidebar pane.

I've made an extension that adds one icon that shows a popup. But I need to show 2 icons. I've read the https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/browserAction but couldn't find a reference to any limitations on this regard. However in the manifest.json, I can only define one popup.
Is there a way for one extension to have several icons on the Chrome toolbar?
No. Each extension can have at most one browser action or page action. You could create multiple extensions that pass messages.
