I recently upgraded my OS to Windows 10. I've been trying many solutions to these problems for days. I even followed the instructions that are posted in this link Installing Node.js (and NPM) on Windows 10 , but it didnt work. I also tried searching for possible solutions on GITHUB npm, still no luck. I can't start my work because of these errors. I need help please. Thanks in advance

Has anyone got a clear simple path for installing node-gyp correctly.
I am moving away from C# etc to node development - and while I am a newbie with node.js - I am quite disappointed that the major issues I have had have been with a Microsoft related tool.
I need node-gyp ( I think ) to be able to use printers and connect to serial ports & barcode scanners - so I need to be able to get it going consistently or somehow avoid it all together.
I have successfully compiled on 2 different machines.. but it seems that anytime I have to do something on a new machine ( for something like electron or windows server ) - then I seem to spend hours trying to get it going.
The following line is supposed to work:
npm install --global --production windows-build-tools
And then when adding a package than needs node-gyp - I get the following error
The Windows SDK version 8.1 was not found.
That SDK is installed already ( and tried reinstaling ) . I can't believe how horrible this is to configure and I have read may posts online that don't help.
It seems utterly ridiculous to install packages and complete development environments that are many GBs to get this going.
help!
I think you have not installed Windows SDK 8.1 correctly. Here is the download link:
https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/sdk-archive
When the download has finish, restart your computer and adding package ;)

I have been using Anaconda 3-5.0.1 with spyder3. Spyder has begun to fail.
I tried to remove and reinstall but reinstall fails. I removed hidden folder
anaconda3 to no avail. I now have no working spyder. I am installing 64-bit version in Windows 10. There are a variety of error messages including cant create menus. I have run this install many times prior to today (2/8/2018).
I assume continuum changed something.
I would greatly appreciate guidance.
For those of you who still have the same issue, try to follow the link below.

You may need to have a google translate as it's a Japanese blog.
I deleted JDK, JRE and all java related paths in the environment setting as suggested in the blog. Then I could successfully install anaconda3.5.1.0_64bit with no error.
would anybody happen to know the latest versions that work together on Windows Vista? I've been back and forth trying to get the right combination together but ng new never works for some reason or another.
(this is the older post showing what I already tried)
I'm having a bit of a problem here. I attempted to update angular/cli and I got errors telling me I need to update my version of node. I have windows vista so I'm pretty much stuck with node 5.7 and npm 3.6 until I can afford a new computer.
I tried uninstalling angular and clearing the cache and installing angular-cli#1.0.0-beta.14 and it installs. I can create a new project with it though it takes a long time to create it, and it also throws an error with node-pre-gyp. I came across an article on Github that said it's meant to be installed locally in the project and not globally. So I tried uninstalling, clearing cache and installing without -g to make it local within my project folder and it still has errors installing and I still can't serve my project.
How can I clear this all up and just start back with a clean slate of Angular2? I've looked around and everything I find leads me to the docs which are now updated to something beyond what my computer can handle.

Have you considered running Linux? There are many versions with a lightweight GUI that runs well on older hardware. Ubuntu Mate is an example. It's harder to run node on Windows because of symlinks.
System - Win 7 64 bit.
Nodejs - node-v6.9.4-x64.msi
Installation error - Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one.
Solutions that did NOT work - Run as admin, Run via commandline as admin, log had same error i saw in installer, don't install online docs option,
Please help me to fix this. Thank you !
This will not be an issue with your NodeJs installation, it might be because of your previous installation (might be any other software) which might be still in progress or not exit properly.
To solve your issue, please try restarting your machine once and install. This will indirectly kill your previous unstable installation and allow you to install NodeJs
I had this issue with '2017-03-21, Version 6.10.1 'Boron' (LTS)'. Restarting my PC solved the issue.
P.S. However, this issue seems to be specific to the NodeJs installer. I tried installing other programs after the NodeJs installation threw up this error and they installed fine (even before the restart).
I know you all heard similar complaints, yet no response has worked for me through browsing these questions and answers. Please forgive me if you believe this to overly repetitive.
Loaded Node.js (4.2.2) first tried 32bit, and later tried 64bit installer.
Attempted to load Aptana studio 3 (3.6.1) but got an error.
"Failed to acquire installer_nodejs_windows.msi file: CRC error."
I have tried updating environmental variables, and loading the 64bit instead. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. I like this application on my school computer, and really want to give it a try at home. Can someone please help me?
I am also using windows 10 and encountered same error. Download and Install the file http://go.aptana.com/installer_nodejs_windows manually and then run aptana installer. It will work.
Same error. Install Node js
