I'm working in a node application that can be started like this from a Mac machine:
DEBUG=app.* ENVIRONMENT=local node server/index.js
However, when trying to run that script in a Windows command line, I get the following message:
" 'DEBUG' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
When running the script without the parameters, I don't get any error.
How can I pass said parameters to my index.js from Windows?
Run this in the CMD window where you'll run your node app.
SET DEBUG=app.*
SET ENVIRONMENT=local
node server/index.js
Or if you want it to be in a single line, type this.
SET DEBUG=app.*&&SET ENVIRONMENT=local&&node server/index.js
To make this variable changes persistent, you should edit your environment variables in control panel.

My computer runs Windows10 Enterprise.
I found this repo for creating a Nodejs server for tchatbot. As you can see there are options for starting the server. I tried to execute this command : node app.js DF_PROJECT_ID="agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo" DF_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH="D:\Docs\TchatBot\clé_account_service_agent_human_operator\agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo-3349b2f01974.json"
But I got error : You need to specify a path to a service account keypair in environment variable DF_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH
So what is wrong ?
It's basically same as jfriend00's solution, but I add node app.js in the end. And you just follow below sequence to run command.
set DF_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH="D:\Docs\TchatBot\clé_account_service_agent_human_operator\agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo-3349b2f01974.json"
set DF_PROJECT_ID="agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo"
node app.js
By the way, if you use linux system or macOS, you'll use following command to start server.
(Just one line)
DF_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH="D:\Docs\TchatBot\clé_account_service_agent_human_operator\agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo-3349b2f01974.json" DF_PROJECT_ID="agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo" node app.js
You can just set these in the environment in a command shell before running nodejs from that command shell:
set DF_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH="D:\Docs\TchatBot\clé_account_service_agent_human_operator\agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo-3349b2f01974.json"
set DF_PROJECT_ID="agent-human-handoff-sampl-jseo"
Then, you you can run your program and these variables will be in the environment that your node program inherits. If you want to automate this, you can create a small batch file that will set them and then run your program. Keep in mind that setting environment variables like this sets them on for programs run from the current command shell, not other command shells and not for programs run other ways.
After setting those, your environment is now configured and you would run your program just as always:
node app.js
When installing node.js for the first time and using the YEOMAN library, I found that it did not recognize the library despite installing it correctly.
When executing in console
yo swaggerize
Returns the error "yo it is not recognized as an internal or external command, program or batch file executable"
After several laps the problem is in node.js and in the PATH.

The solutión for me, it's simple.
In windows-> go to pc properties->advanced configuration-> environment variables
Show Path variable and edit.
C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Roaming\npm;
C:\Program Files\nodejs;
Save restart your console and run the command again
Each and every thing was fine
only problem was path
so I set path in environment variable.
This path I set in environment variabel
C:\Users\user\.npm-packages
where 'user' is my user name, please use your user name.
Then my 'yo', 'bower' command start to executed

So I'm having a lot of trouble getting my node module command line commands to run correctly.
For example if I try and run gulp I get a
>gulp
'gulp' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
So I have tried making my environment variable NODE_PATH
%APPDATA%\npm\node_modules\
%APPDATA%\npm\node_modules
%APPDATA%\npm
but none of these seem to work. The only command I can use to get my gulp to run with is
C:\Users\Aaron\Documents\GitHub\2015fallTeam14>node %NODE_PATH%gulp\bin\gulp

It would appear that cmd is not running my node with my NODE_PATH variable along with my command, but I do not know how to to fix this
You need to set the system PATH variable to tell the command prompt where to find gulp.bat (which npm creates).
This has nothing to do with Node itself.

Im not sure why this works though. I would like to know how the cmd knows to run node on this file path.
I tried to run my server.js
like C:\Users\Documents\tools\nodejs\nodejs>node server.js
But when I tried to run like

Open cmd.exe then type:
setx PATH "%PATH%;C:\Users\Documents\tools\nodejs\nodejs"
that command will add C:\Users\Documents\tools\nodejs\nodejs to PATH environment variable. You can do it only one time, it will store in your registry permanently
then close the command window, then open it again then run:
cd C:\Users\584042\Documents\tools\nodejs\nodejs\Team_share
node server.js
I've installed vows as module of my project and I've added the path "node_modules\vows\bin" to my environment path variable of windows vista.
note: I've also renamed "node_modules\vows\bin\vows" to vows.exe, because without the extension I get this error: 'vows' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Now wherever I put "vows" in my cmd in windows nothing happens, I cd into my test folder and I run "vows myFirstTest.js" and nothing happens. (when I say nothing happens my cursor in cmd is going to the top and then return to it's original position and it's doing this forever, therefore each time I try a vows command in cmd I have to close the cmd to run another command).
What I'm doing bad?
