TFS Build Server 2013 can not be configured with a TFS Server 2010 collections because its not compatible - visual-studio-2012

We actually have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with Team Foundation Server 2010 installed, which has a projectcollection configured. A databaseproject was migrated from Visual Studio Premium 2010 to Visual Studio Premium 2012 and checked in to TFS2010.
On another Windows Server 2008 R2, Team Foundation Server 2010 is as TFS Build Server with Build Agents installed [TFS2010 Server with projectcollection and TFS Build Server 2010 works fine together].
After migration of databaseproject from Visual Studio Premium 2010 to Visual Studio Premium 2012, TFS Build and Deployment does not work, because on TFS2010 Build server, .deploymanifest file was used. But now for dbproject in VS2012, there are fewer files with .dacpac files.
I was reading a lot about compatibility and there is different information about executing db project build and deployment form VS2012 on a VS2010 TFS build server.
If I deinstall TFS2010 build server and installed TFS2013, at this point to select the project collection on the TFS2010, there will be shown an incompatibility error.
Is there an solution where we can build and deploy a VS2012 db project checked in TFS2010 from VS2012 on a TFS2010 or TFS2013 build server?

When linking a TFS Build server, the version of the build server must always be the same or older than the TFS server, so the following is possible:
TFS Server version | Supported Team Build versions
2015 | 2010 SP1+CompatFix, 2012, 2013, 2015
2013 | 2010 SP1+CompatFix, 2012, 2013
2012 | 2010 SP1+CompatFix, 2012
2010 | 2010
When installing a newer version of Visual Studio on the build server, you can use its tools to build the code, but you need to make sure Team Build is using the correct version of MsBuild.exe. The executable is installed in a different path since .NET 4.0 was introduced:
MsBuild version | Path
4.0 (2012, 2010) | C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319
12.0 (2013) | C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\12.0\Bin
14.0 (2015) | C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\14.0\Bin
Some features only work when the version of MsBuild is used which supports the feature.
The "Run MsBuild" activity in your XAML build workflow has a property called ToolPath, setting this to the correct path. It also has a ToolsVersion property, which you need to set to "11.0". This seems only required when using a version of the tools is newer than the version of the build engine.
Important note: TFS 2010 has reached its end of the support lifecycle last July. It may be a good idea to upgrade the server to a supported version.

Can I use TFS 2015 Express with Visual Studio 2012 Professional

I need to migrate an old VSS 2005 source control database and I have downloaded & installed Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server Express 2015.
But I still have to use Visual Studio 2012 Professional (Reinstalled Team Explorer 2012 and then update 5). Trying to create a new project on TFS server throws error:
TF30172: You are trying to create a team project either without
required permission or with an older version of Team Explorer.
As I have added my account as TFS administrator I suppose the problem is with older version? Note that I have almost no experience with TFS, because I never needed it before. I cannot find any other means how to create a new project. (I planned to use this wizard).
Can I use TFS 2015 Express with Visual Studio 2012 Professional and if yes, how do I create a first empty project?
Yes, you are correct, only the latest version has "full" compatibility with the latest Team Foundation Server. You have to use the same Visual Studio of visual studio as the version of TFS that you're connecting to to create a team project.
If you're using TFS 2015 Update 2 or later then you can create a team project from the web as well.

Create New Project with VS 2012 PRO on TFS Express 2013

I'm getting this Message when trying to create a new project:
TFS 2012 Express and Visual Studio 2012 is installed in a separate Machines. All machines are members of the Active Directory, behind proxy and comes with Kaspersky EndPoint 10 MR.
Also I'm a TFS Console Administrator and have the highest rights available.
Visual Studio 2012 Machine Setup:
Professional Version with Update 4;
Windows 7 Pro SP1;
TFS Machine Setup:
TFS 2013 Express (TFS 12.0.21005.1 Tfs2013.RTM);
Windows 7 Pro SP1
Sounds like you need an updated version of Team Explorer (the connector between VS and TFS) since you are using TFS 2013 and VS 2012. VS 2012 ships with Team Explorer 2012 which can connect to TFS 2012 and earlier versions.
Take a look at the compatibility charts: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd997788.aspx
Perhaps you need Team Explorer Everywhere (TEE): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30661
I figured out that the reason this throws the error message because the Team Explorer and TFS should be aligned with same version. In my context, I was using Team Explorer 2012 which ships with VS 2012 against a TFS Express 2013.
Team Explorer Version and the TFS Version should be the same to avoid this error appearing.
There were few things you could do,
As #madannes mentioned in his post above to use Team Explorer Everywhere
and
As Vivek Bansod explains in the MSDN Forum, I used the Team Explorer for Visual Studio 2013 (The shell version of VS 2013), to create a Team Project and then continued to Add Solution, Check-In and Check-Out operation against TFS Express 2013.
Download Team Explorer for Visual Studio 2013 from this link and create a project there. These projects can be connected to from VS 2012.

SQL Server 2012 DataTools + Visual Studio 2012 = An incompatible DacFx version is installed

I'm going crazy, trying to use SSDT in Visual Studio 2012. I created a database but I can't add tables etc. because of this error.
I installed:
Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate
SQL Server 2012 Express x64 with Advanced Services, plus WinUpdates
Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012 x86 (couldn't find a specific x64 version)
SQL Server 2012 Data-Tier Application Framework (August 2013 both x86-x64 versions)
Basically I followed this MSDN piece of advice, http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/04ee07bf-31d9-4a60-90ad-bf48c16eb4d1/ssdt-vs2012-error-dac-framework-compatibility?forum=ssdt
but without results
Is there something I have to do, or follow a particular order?
Really this stuff is driving me crazy
Thx evbdy
You need to download the latest version of SSDT from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/hh297027. Or you should be able to get it inside Visual Studio by choosing "SQL-> Check for Updates" from the top menu bar. This will install the latest SSDT and DacFx bits, and fix this error.
Unfortunately SSDT and SSDT-BI have confusingly similar names but are separate downloads with different functionality. That's why your installation of the SSDT-BI tool didn't fix this error.

Can TFS 2012 Power Tools be used with TFS 2010?

I have TFS 2010 installed on the TFS server, and VS 2012 installed on my workstation, and that's working great except we have some check-in policies that rely on TFPT, and I have not yet installed TFPT on my workstation. I'm wondering if I can just install the newer version, or if I'd have to rely on the older version until TFS is upgraded to 2012.
We use VS2012 and point it at both TFS2012 (in the cloud) and a TFS2010 instance. I have TFPT for 2012 installed and everything works OK. I'm not an advanced user of TFPT.

BizTalk 2010 not adding a project type to Visual Studio 2012

I am setting up a BizTalk server on a new VM and I install BizTalk 2010 Host Integration Developer Ed. but it does not add the project type to VS 2012!!! This is a completely fresh install, and VS was installed first. Any ideas?
Thanks!
According to Microsoft. BizTalk 2010 projects can not be opened from Visual Studio 2012:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/hh266747.aspx#project
BizTalk 2010 You can’t open the project in Visual Studio 2012.
You can use biztalk 2013 beta, if you need development in VS 2012.
