i want to create to desktop standalone app running on node.js.
After long search i found jxcore helps to build node.js native apps. I want to know how to install the jxcore. I have downloaded zip folder from jxcore site and unzip the folder it contains jx executable file. On running this nothing happens. how to install jxcore.
Why don't you download the Windows Setup from https://github.com/jxcore/jxcore-release ?
You should see it's label as given below;
Windows Setup (32/64/SM/V8) ....
Once you install it, you can open the terminal (Run->cmd) and type jx

I cannot open Appium inspector on Linux Ubuntu.
In the same folder I have 3 files:
Appium-Inspector-linux-2022.2.1.AppImage /
Appium-Server-GUI-linux-1.22.2.AppImage /
latest-linux.yml
When I open the Appium-Server-GUI-linux-1.22.2.AppImage file, start the server e click on the button to open Appium Ispector, it open a web page.
to fix this, it was necessary:
1: Start Appium Server
I did this, executing Appium-Server-GUI-linux-1.22.2.AppImage file.
2: Start Appium Inspector through of file Appium-Inspector-linux-2022.2.1.AppImage
3: Create the capabilities
After that, the Appium Inspector still don't open throught on Appium Server button, but it make it open and you can use.
Since the release of Appium v1.22 they have changed how the Appium Inspector works. I refer you to their official documentation on GitHub https://github.com/appium/appium-inspector, citing:

install latest appium-inspector
open appium-inspector and insert "/wd/hub" in Remote Path
I'm trying to run an application build with Electron on Linux. They app maker offers an .exe installation file. So I figured I'd install it in WINE, but I seem to be missing something the app needs to run.
Since the install is an .exe, do I need WINE? And if I need WINE, what do I need to install to make the app work? I have tried two Electron apps, both only downloadable as a .exe install file.
Electron adds os native calls, so .exe files usually do not work. WINE is not able to emulate all of those calls, so if it isn't working for you, then you are out of luck I guess. Look for apps that offer linux versions, like https://www.electronjs.org/apps/camunda-modeler. If you have access to the repository, chances are they build it using electron-builder. You can just build it yourself with the command electron-builder build --linux in most cases
I've looked on the Node-Webkit site and it appears to say that I can make an application with HTML5 and compile it for Windows, Linux of Mac so it will run without the need for the user to install Node.js separately. However, when I try their sample apps (e.g. https://github.com/leanote/desktop-app found on the official NW.js page: https://github.com/nwjs/nw.js/wiki/List-of-apps-and-companies-using-nw.js ), the ".exe" file does not run the app (on either Win 7 or XP). It just opens a simple browser window with the address "nw:blank" and a gray page says "NW.JS" and does nothing.
Can these apps be packaged and run without requiring the user to install node.js?
https://github.com/leanote/desktop-app 's nw folder is not the distribute leanote app, it's just the NW. You must build the desktop-app. The README has written How to build it, How to develop it

You might try... node-webkit-builder ... which is supposed to build a huge .EXE file which is self-contained for you. Otherwise, the instructions for distributing... how to package and distribute, see Step 2b.
Installed node.js
Installed phonegap: npm install -g phonegap
Created the example app: phonegap create hello com.example.hello HelloWorld
Used the run command to test in Android: phonegap run android
What happened next is it didn't detect the Android SDK, so it asked me for build.phonegap.com account. I went ahead and created an account and entered user/pw and like magic, it created the app in the cloud. I pointed my qr code scanner to the screen and it installed on my Android phone. Cool, but...
I wanted to develop locally using the Android emulator. So I followed the instructions (http://docs.phonegap.com/en/3.0.0/guide_platforms_android_index.md.html#Android%20Platform%20Guide) to install Android SDK, change PATH variables, etc.
When I went back to command line and cd to my phonegap root folder, suddenly "'phonegap' is not recognized as an internal or external command...'. I tried to reinstall phonegap with npm and it looks like it installs just fine again, but even when restarting cmd.exe, phonegap commands do not work.
Any ideas? Changing environment variables shouldn't affect phonegap already installed, right? The only other thing I can think is I had to install Ant and made an ANT_HOME system variable..
Apologies for the noob question. I'm sure I'm just messed up something simple here..
Figured this out. I accidentally DELETED the environment variables for node.js when I was trying to APPEND additional environment variables manually for android sdk & Ant. Since phonegap was installed as a node package, it wasn't recognized.
Better reinstall using the Msysgit and give the correct path. In my case envi variable path is as follows,
C:\Program Files\nodejs\; ->NodeJS path
F:\windows_adt\sdk\platform-tools; ->SDK Platform Tools
F:\windows_adt\sdk\tools; ->SDK Tools
C:\msysgit\bin; ->Bin Folder
C:\msysgit\git; ->git
C:\msysgit\libexec\git-core; ->git-core, if you want.
To reduce further errors use the recommended msysgit shell.
I'm temporarily stuck on a Windows machine on which I have no administrator privileges. I would like to get node.js "installed" in a directory without using an installer, which requires elevation. On the node.js site, I don't see this distribution option.
Is anyone aware of a file-based (zip, self-extracting exe, etc) download that I can use to run node.js without using an installer on a Windows machine? Is there a way to run the installer without administrator elevation?
OK, it turns out that the EXE download for Windows is all that node.js needs to run. I had thought that that was an exe for doing an installation. Just running the downloaded .exe works.
