I'm using Google's new "material" charts:
https://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/linechart#Material
I would like to overlay some text on a chart, but want to keep the result responsive.
Here's an example:
http://jsfiddle.net/cxjp00ng/3/
While that works okay, you see see from the JS that it's very fragile:
google.visualization.events.addListener(chart, 'ready', function () {
$('#pct').clone().insertAfter('#chart g:eq(1)').show();
});
That's taking the SVG text and moving it to the proper position within the chart SVG so that it's behind the tooltips.
Is there a cleaner, more robust way to do this?
The text placement relative to the chart isn't always great on small displays either (sometimes colliding with the chart itself). Is there a better way to position/size it?

How can I place a complex SVG image (with css-styles!) geo-referenced over an openlayers map so that the document's CSS styles are used with rendering the SVG.
A regular ImageLayer does a fine job of showing the georeferenced svg on the map as an image. But because it is an image, the CSS of the document has no effect on the rendered SVG
The SVG Layer example on the other hand places the SVG into the DOM and makes it react to the document's CSS and reacts when you change the CSS. But it always maps the SVG over the whole planet and seems to hide any layer I place under it.
To give you an idea of the use case: we have an externally generated SVG with several 'groups or layers' in it representing different aspects of infrastructure. This svg has to be put correctly over a map (like we can do with the imagelayer), but we want to be able to selectively show/hide the different 'groups or layers' that are within the SVG.
I guess in the end we would be needing something similar to ol/layer/Image/ImageLayer to happen in the SVG-layer example.
Any suggestions about how to approach this would be very welcome, but working code is also OK ;-)
In the example the image width is 360 degrees and the center is at [0, 0]. For a smaller extent you would need to use the appropriate width and adjust the center used in the transform https://codesandbox.io/s/lucid-poitras-i1qyb?file=/main.js Use an opacity setting to avoid completely hiding the base layer.
I'm trying to create slidingup animation in android application to change between two view of layout.
I've tried from this tutorial
but the second screen didn't come like what I want.
I want the second layout to come like a wipe animation, like the following picture at the bottom
Refer this:
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/ab51002847ea3dcdc0ba14eb330ab9ec292a9789/packages/SystemUI/src/com/android/systemui/statusbar/phone/PhoneStatusBar.java
In the above code, focus on the animateCollapsePanels method
I was able to implement a similar transition by using a clipping Path. Because I didn't want my transition to rule out the use of Layouts in the clipped view, I implemented the clipping at the Layout level following this answer: Custom Layout that rounds the corners of its content
The clipping is no anti-aliased and you would need to do use instead PorterDuff and XferMode based solutions otherwise, but for a linear wipe animation like you're describing, clipping in the layout will achieve what you want. Basically you're doing a linear reveal whereas the accepted answer I linked does a circular clip.
So here is the problem:
I am trying to create dynamic buttons that have text. The text will be generated dynamically so the svg object doesn't know the size of the text. There are two things that I am looking to do and I hope that SVG will do this
First I want the left and right edge of the svg element to stay the same even if I scale the element horizontally
The problem is that I have to set a width on the svg otherwise it doesn't show up when I display the page. Also on the Home and blog buttons you can see that the edge is compressed. I want the edge to stay the same no matter how much text is in the element.
Also I can't seem to set the scale or width properly even with a javascript .getComputedTextLength()
Any help or a point in the right direction would be very helpful
Buttons that are sized to their text content is functionality that can be adressed with Raphael's getBBox()
The use of this js library means that you are implicitly using SVG or VML and this functionality is more easily addressed by referencing this JavaScript library
To see the getBBox() function in action you could visit the Autobox example here:

How to change the height and width of textarea (or any html element) from javascript which is inside foreign object in svg.Moreover, can I drag an html elelment and drop on svg container by any mean (htm5 any hint) or atleast can I get the coordinates on svg during draging so that I can implement my own drag and drop. Thanks in advance
You appear to my eye to have at least two distinct questions. If I understand correctly, the first one is something like this: how can you write JavaScript within an SVG instance so that you can embed the SVG instance and have the JS control the embedding HTML? Do I have that right?
If so, the answer can be constructed from the parts of http://phaseit.net/examples/SVG4/c1.html and related examples. Briefly, write "window.top" to reach the HTML reference.
The same sort of reference gives access to HTML5 drag-and-drop, if that's what you're after.
Is that the level of answer you're after, or do you need an executable example?
LATER, AFTER MORE DISCUSSION: it appears that http://phaseit.net/examples/SVG5/embedding.svg is more like what you're after. Do I have that right, Arslan Ahson? What you should see when you display the SVG instance there is an SVG-coded elliptical button which, when pushed, toggles the appearance (background color and width) of a nearby embedded HTML textarea.
I'd like to improve upon jQuery's dialog code by using CSS-sprites, and thus also add animations of the dialog borders.
To do this, i'd like all the artwork to be in 1 png file, a css sprite.
My problem is that in order to support a dialog that maximizes to 2 or 3 monitors, i think i'd have to put 5000px wide / high border graphics in the css sprite file. Because i can't find a way to resize a selected portion of a css sprite image.
Basically i want to resize from the sprite image a region (t,l,w,h) to a DIV or IMG on my page with a different width and height.
I'd like to know, is this even possible? It seems background-position does not support this at all.
I've tried the first solution in How can I scale an image in a CSS sprite, but could not get it to work using that.
I've tried using the new background-size property in conjunction with background-position, but that also does not produce the results i want.
Spent another few hours twiddling with css, but could not get sprites to work for dialogs.
But my animated dialogs don't need many frames (not unless you want to put actual video as a dialog backdrop online), so for the dialog theme i'm designing now i have 8 312x312 png's as frames, 8 requests, 386kb total. Just enough to create a glowing animation for when the dialog is in a "highlighted" state. It's do-able.
I'm using the technique from How can I scale an image in a CSS sprite
See http://mediabeez.ws in about a month for the opensource release of animated dialogs.
I will be developing and testing this standalone component when it's used by my own homegrown CMS, so it will have the ability do be themed, dragged and dropped, things like that.
