We are using Telerik automation framework integrated with visual studio. Even though we are giving correct property name for text block, We are not getting text block content for WPF application We need to recognize text block. Could you please give the solution related to this requirement.
In xaml<TextBlock Name="TextBlock1">Test data</TextBlock>
and in codevar value = TextBlock1.Text;

I have a simple MFC application, using Visual Studio 2019. My problem is that when I want to add a variable to any control I get the pop up message:
Failed to return new Code Element. Possibly syntax error. New Element Name test
To clarify: The problem is in the Visual C MFC Dialog Editor. Not in my code as it runs fine. I have tried all possible solutions that I found using Google. Nothing helps. The app is very simple. The only "extra" is that I am using tinyxml2.
What I found out by Google is that this is not a new problem, and the solution was to not use precompiled headers. And I am not using precompiled headers. so...
I am stuck. A long shot: Note the "Element" in the error text, and all the "elements" in tinyxml2. Some collision of symbols ??
I hint (maybe): I have got this message once before when I was using a long variable name. I shorted the name and the error was gone.
This is my second try. When the problem turned up I removed all changes since it was OK. But the problem is still there. Somthing I did has left some, not reversable, mark in the code (or database).
I have a custom control with around 20 custom properties. However, some of these properties need to contain code logic. This is fine, as I create the property as Type: javax.faces.el.MethodBinding and Editor: Method Binding Editor which works fine.
However, once I close the editor, click somewhere else, then click back to the custom properties of my custom control, the code has disappeared. If I look at the source code however, the logic is visible. Its a little frustrating, as whenever I want to use the editor, I need to copy my code from the source and paste back into the editor (to help with formatting, showing errors as I type etc)
Has anyone else come across this and know how to fix it, or is this just another quirk of designer?
This image shows the empty property
This image shows the property has logic in the source code
I am trying to automate WPF application (WPF with 3rd party devexpress) using coded UI (VS 2012) in my local machine (Windows server 2008 R2).
I am facing issues while identifying controls under dynamically generated content of the window. I've Tried different hierarchical levels to hit the control,But i am
still not able to hit the control.
Till some level I am getting the handle, but after I am not getting the handle.
My application is complex hierarchically structured with combining winforms and WPF.
I've Tried to use coded UI record and play feature to generate the UI Map and used the same structure to identify the controls. It worked while debugging line by line but it's failing while running.
e.g. Below is one hierarchy,
List item
Dashboard
Dash_Grid
LayoutManager
LayoutGroup
LayoutPanel -->Till this level I am able to get the handle and lower I am not able to hit the control
Container
Navtop
Nav_Grid
TileLayoutControl
........(all tiles)
This issue is not only with one page. I am having the same problem with all the pages.So this is blocking our automation.
Please can any one help me on this?
Try this two possible solutions:
Use the devexpress extension for codedui to identify and locate dexExpress controls:
https://www.devexpress.com/products/net/controls/winforms/coded-ui/
Dont replicate the elaborate hierarchy of your app when identifying controls but instead select the main controls in the hierarchy and use them to set your search properties. this is especially important for dynamically created content where the hierarchy is constantly changing.
in your example:
var List_item = new WpfListItem(parent);
List_item.SearchProperties.. = some search properties
and than set your control's parent to that top list item and ignore the midlle men:
var Container = new UITestControl(List_item);
where UITestControl should be replaced with the controls actuall type.
limit number of characters entered in cognos search and select prompt
`The below script works for text box.
<script>
// The ASDF here comes from the Name property of the prompt
var fW = (typeof getFormWarpRequest == "function" ? getFormWarpRequest() :
document.forms["formWarpRequest"]);
fW._textEditBoxASDF.maxLength = 3;
</script>`
I need a similiar piece of code to work with Search and select prompt.
I don't have cognos in front of me but let me tell you how i did stuff like this with Javascript. Please read entirely as there are several approaches.
Put a uniquely named/id DIV tag around your native Cognos select and search prompt(The one your typing in. This will make it easy to reference with Java's dom model for the next steps. We will eventually make this default search prompt invisible/hidden but for now keep it visible until the following steps are coded/debugged.
Create an HTML control in the simliar style as the native Select and search with the proper max-length settings that you want. Use the text box on change event to update the native Cognos select and search prompt. for debugging troubleshooting i find it handy to have javascript alert the DIV innerHTML so you can see whats under the hood with the Cognos control. Sometimes i uses this innerHTML as the starting point for my "Cloned/Shadow" HTML prompt that i have control over.
Once you have your new HTML control effectively changing the Cognos control you can make it invisible.
On complex dashboards/scorecarding i wrote routines to clone cognos prompts and expose their HTML so i could create my own control that would quietly manipulate the actual hidden controls. This gave me complete control over presentation and functionality.
There are many variations on this once you have the controls innerhtml like replacing the innerHTML with one of your own immediately after the page loads that has the restrictions on length. Or simply seeing if you can massage the property learning from the innerhtml.
In Cognos 8.4 and 10 there is a new method to dynamically add a method to a control to be called prior to any other methods. It is tricky but it is on IBM's web site. I may be more cleanly implemented in 10 and also IBM is not shy about showing off these solutions on their web site.
We are using coded ui test using visual studio 2010.We are testing .Net 4.0 windows application.
Here is an scenario.
We have an windows app which has a button named submit and we have recorded a workflow which clicks on submit.
Now when we generate code using coded ui the serach criteria for the button is based on its name (display name of button).
If tommorrow developer changes the button's text to submit1 , our scripts fail.
We tried using "controlName"[name given to the control and not the display name] property in search criteria instead of Name , but it does not work.
We get following error - "The playback failed to find the control with the given search properties"
Related problem happens to me also. I solved it by sending the Focus to the UI control before using that control.
Try this.
this.UIAssettePresentationsWindow2.UINOWindow.UINOButton.SetFocus();
