Find original main domain name based on add-on domain name - dns

This may not even be possible but I'm trying to figure out the URL of the main domain for an add-on domain.
Lets say for example the site is at mymaindomain.com.
If I go to
http://mymaindomain.com/cpanel (or :2082 or :2083)
I get nothing.
That is because mymaindomain.com is an add on domain for the hosting account.
Lets say the primary domain on the account is myprimarydomain.com and this was the domain originally set up with the hosting account. However, this domain is no longer valid and not being leased by the hosting client anymore.
If I log in to cpanel using the old main domain by going to
http://myprimarydomain.com/cpanel (or :2082 or :2083)
I am able to get into cpanel.
The problem is, there must be a new main domain name associated with this account, but I don't know what it is.
Is there any way to find this out given cpanel access to the account?
Is there any other way to find out what the primary domain is on the account?
Any help is much appreciated and bounty will be awarded promptly to the first correct answer.

Sorry, my rep is too low to comment yet, I was wondering if you are able to get the IP of your server once you are in cpanel. (Should be on the right side). If so ... can you go here and input the IP and tell me what the 'node hostname' says? Also ISP might help.

Domain name point to subdomain of a entire different domain

I am completely confused the last few days with this and I still haven't found an outcome that's worked.
Basically I have a domain name without hosting at letshost.ie which is dublinplasterer.ie
I also Have one domain & hosting with godaddy for domain- shanafagan.com which is my own site for web/graphic design service.
I created a subdomain= dublinplasterer.shanafagan.com and uploaded the site files.
Basically I want for example when someone types in dublinplasterer.ie in the address bar if goes to dublinplasterer.shanafagan.com but doesn't show dublinplasterer.shanafagan.com url, stays as dublinplasterer.ie
Im not even sure if this can be done at this stage. head is melted
shanafagan.com and the subdomain dublinplasterer.shanafagan.com have the same ip so how will that work if changing dns?
Any help would be greatly appreciated , am so stuck at this stage.
If you wanted to do it this way you would need a web server for domain2.com
Search for ProxyPass.
The way you should do this is add a second domain on your web hosting (cpanel for example) and point the other domain to this web server.
If you are struggling I recommend using a solution like cPanel that is widely used and simplifies much of the process. It is common enough you can google most issues.
So normally you would have started by making an add-on domain (instead of a subdomain) which would also create it's own subdomain anyway. To do that, you go to your cPanel in GoDaddy and find add-on domain, then make it "dublinplasterer.ie" (Don't add www. to it. Even though this name is hosted elsewhere, we will later go to your DNS files at that hosting and point it to your GoDaddy's name servers and this add-on helps it direct to the right root folder) then choose your local root folder for that site (I think you can actually make this the same as your other subfolder already hosting your files and then it will just pull the same site) or you can pick a different subfolder and then make the add-on domain. This tells any request to this name server that if it is a request for "dublinplasterer.ie" it needs to send it to the subfolder you specified.
If you don't make the subfolder the same as the one you already made, you can either load the same content into your new subfolder or create a CNAME record telling this add-on to point to your subfolder instead but that is more complex so go with the other route.
Lastly, you need to go to your original hosting at letshost.ie and under your domain name find the DNS records tab. Change the name servers to match your GoDaddy ones and now (may take a day or two to show as DNS changes often take days and can't be seen immediately but you can try using a different device/computer/mobile that hasn't loaded it previously to see if it will refresh the correct dns) it should work. Even though it points to your main site name servers, the add-on domain you made receives it and directs it to the subfolder you specified on the add-on domain.
Hope that helps, let me know if it works for you.

Can't add CNAME domain to Azure Websites where the domain name has a number, in it

I've read other questions before posting this one, none of them is having the solution to what im facing. Im not new to Azure websites and already have a few websites running already but this one in particular is being a pain. I have a domain something like www.abc2wxyz.com (sorry can't reveal the name). I have made the required CNAME with awverify and awverify.www but still even after 24hrs Azure keeps giving me abc2wxyz.com or www.abc2wxyz.com. On the other hand if i add another domain called abc-wzyx.com it gets added. Could this be due to the first domain containing numerics? or is this something else?
Also whenever i visit my domain abc2wxyz.com i get that blue Azure 404 image which shows that the domain's CNAME have infact propogated and all that is left is adding it to the respected Azure Website.
I guess problem was due to the fact that I had a number in my domain name e.g. www.abc2wxyz.com but as soon as i got a domain that was www.abctowxyz.com it started working. Im not sure what the problem might be but if you know, i would be happy to know about it.
Thanks!

DNS delivering ads?

Could it be that my DNS (which was set by my ISP) is making money when I go online?
I know that the 'web-page unavailable, but look at these amazing ads'-pages (when the user tries to reach the wrong address) bring them a little bit of money. But I am interested in another case.
Could it be that they serve me an ad (as pop-up or pop-down) when I go to a completely 'normal' page without consent of the web-page itself? It would be a kind of add-on, you ask for page example.com/foe, the example.com site serves the page foe, but the DNS sends you unrequested a pop-under ad.
Am I paranoid, or is it happening? Note: I know how to block ads, pop-ups/under and so on. I just want to investigate better how DNS services are trying to make a buck (or a cent) here and there.
Not exactly. The way DNS works is straight forward; say you host a web server which you have purchased a domain name of noads.com for. When you purchase that domain name you're going to be setting it to point to the IP address of your server. Now, from your servers you can host ads if you wish, or setup redirects so that when someone requests, "Noads.com/hi" they get an ad proclaiming the wonders of a cereal high in fiber. However, at this point you're past the point of DBS resolution. The request to noads.com was resolved to your IP address. The /hi folder was accessed after that resolution took place and your webserver may have presented the ad or redirected as the programmer of the website chose.
As for your ISP sneaking something in there... It would be very bad for their business, if not a suable offense, to add A records to their DNS server which direct you to an IP other than the one registered. To check that you could use www.checkdomain.com to find what the domain should be, and type in the name of the domain you want to reach. Then use a command line (press your windows key and R to bring up a run prompt, then type CMD and press enter) from there type nslookup . This will show you the IP you SHOULD be directed to and the IP you ARE being directed to.
One last parting thought, DNS is not a random function. Meaning you can't set an "If, then" on it. If you request a website it's always going to go to the same IP. The only reason it wouldn't is if there are multiple host records pointing to different IPs for a single name. I don't believe that is something to worry about, as the ISP servers will point to the official "internet" servers which will be carefully tended and kept free of error.
Hopefully this explains everything to your satisfaction. Please feel free to ask for clarification if something is not clear.
Thanks!

Cloud Service Custom Domain Redirection configuration

i am not sure whether this correct words to describe the problem, but i try my best to explain.
Suppose i deployed a cloud service with A Name. now client ask me give me something good domain name rather than A.cloudapp.net, so according to need i given him fancy domain name A.myapp.com.
After some time they thinks A is not a good name , give me B. so i change the deployment to B.cloudapp.net and then configured custom Domain Name as B.myapp.com.
Client again comes as says my customer is still using A.myapp.com. Can you do something to redirect them to B.myapp.com. with message that it moved to another address.
As i know i used only CNAME and ARecord on domain registrar . how can show a message over there. That this page is moved to other domain.
If A.myapp.com is no longer in the DNS records then the only way that it's still working is that the DNS propagation hasn't taken full effect yet. That can take even up to a few days. Once that happens then A.myapp.com should no longer resolve. This might also be working if you have a wildcard record for #.myapp.com pointing to the same A.cloudapp.net site.
You can create the A.myapp.com DNS record (if it's not still there) and point it to the same cloudapp.net app again, but then in your cloud app look at the hostname as it comes it to the request. If it is A.myapp.com show them a specific page that reminds them this is now B.myapp.com and then redirect them.

Domain Mapping To Subdomain

Im running SAAS where customer signs up and a script installation takes place in a subdomain, i.e., subdomain.mydomain.com and starts using the site. Now I want to allow my customers to map their FULL domain eg. www.customerdomain.com to subdomain.mydomain.com, something like bloggers.com or wordpress does. How I can do this. I am using Linux dedicated server. Help would be greatly appreciated. I dont want URL masking or redirection.
I'm currently developing a project and have recently faced the exact same issue. Here's two ways you can go about solving it:
Super-easy
A little more tricky, but not impossible
The first would be to allow domain mapping of subdomains (e.g. http://subdomain.example.com). This is dead simple for your users to setup. They would head over to their registrar and create a new CNAME record as follows:
(name) subdomain.example.com -> (record) subdomain.yoursite.com
Unlike changing A Records, this change only takes about 120 mins to fully propagate (compared with up to 72 hrs).
If your users pay for the privilege of using the domain mapping feature (i.e. it's not made available to users on a free plan), then you could could store each user's custom subdomain in your database, then check against this (in .php) when they try to access your website via their custom subdomain. If they're allowed, do nothing, otherwise redirect them to an alternate url.
So that's the easy one over and done with. Now for trickier option. If you have a dedicated IP address, or in your case a dedicated server, you can use the cPanel API to dynamically create A Records, this way users would be able to map their domain (rather just their subdomain) to your website. You would need to make the following A Record for your customer, together with getting them to update their domain's A Record with your dedicated IP address:
Your server:
(name) customersdomain.com -> (record) subdomain.yoursite.com
Customer's registrar:
www -> (record) [YOUR IP ADDRESS]
I'm not going to detail the API process for you, but you can read through the documentation here:
http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/SoftwareDevelopmentKit/ApiAuthentication
Anyways, I hope this helps and that you have fun building your website!
J
The (name) represents the custom domain belonging to your customer (e.g. customerdomain.com). The (record) would point to their subdomain on your SAAS site. So if I signed up to your website with a username of 'nike', you would use 'nike.yoursite.com'.
J
Install the wordpress domain mapping plugin, obviously your wordpress installation is setup for Wordpress MU.
Now the way I understand it you want to give your bloggers the opportunity to host their blog on their own personal domain while still hosting on your sever. Under "Domain Mapping" in "Settings" of "Network Administrator"(Super User).
There is Domain Options:
You want to check the User domain mapping page that's Option 3.
This will allow your blog users to specify the domain of their personal site. One thing to remind them is that their DNS records should point to your web server.
