Is there a message size restriction on gmail actions? - gmail

I wanted to add a convenient google actions link to an internal email we send (from: the same email address as the to: email same address). However, in the course of debugging it I realized the link only shows up for the shorter diagnostics messages.
Is there anything in the gmail actions code that requires the message to be a certain length or less in order for the action link to render?

As per my knowledge, There is no limitation on the length of the message for the "Go-to" action link. It helps users to go to your site which can be website/page/anything to complete the action.

Recipient Delivery Failed -- Webhooks and Correcting/Resending via the API

I've been working on an integration that sends an envelope to 2 signers. I am trying to test and program for the case of 1 of the signers having a bad email address. I would need to:
Be notified of this (webhook?)
Update the email address for the signer
Update the email address in the custom fields as that's printed on the agreement
Resend the envelope
When I enable the delivery failure notification in Connect (this is set up at the account level, for now), I don't see where the failure is noted in the webhook response or for which signer the error is happening.
I've found multiple links via Google talking about "correct and resend" but I haven't been able to get anything definitive in terms of what steps need to be taken or a (PHP) code example. I've also found "resend" in the API reference but still no code examples.
I also haven't seen any code examples (PHP) of how I would update a signer's email address and how that would work via the API.
It'd also be good to know how to update custom field data for both signers so the email address in the contract is updated (it's listed separately as part of the custom form data).
And finally, how would I resend the envelope?

I have updated your account settings and now you should be able to see AutoResponded in your webhook messages when email invalid or unreachable.
(my comments: so it sounds like you have to ask to be able to see this stuff, it's not part of their standard webhook responses)
Update the email address for the signer
I also haven't seen any code examples of how I would update a signer and how that would work.
Unfortunately we don't have an example for recipient update but the logic is to get list of all recipients, pick the one need to be updated, and update.
You can use below to retrieve all recipients per envelope

There is bug case created ( above link ) regarding this. At the moment you can not update signer custom fields case EC-2944.

My commentary:
Since custom fields can't be updated, this whole use-case goes out the window. We can't have contracts with incorrect data on it, so my client will have to do these corrections by hand. Kind of a bummer.

Unsubscribe link not shown in gmail

Am sending a mail to gmail.com with a header.
MimeMessage.addHeader("List-Unsubscribe","<http://www.example.com>");
Eventhough the header is present in original content of the mail, unsubscribe link is not shown in mail. Kindly advice.
As my understanding from Google Support Link you need to have prepare some conditions like your try and Amazon Recommendation but finally google decided for show unsubscribed link in top of your emails.
Also, based on Official Gmail Blog:
This only works for some senders right now. We're actively encouraging
senders to support auto-unsubscribe — we think 100% should. We won't
provide the unsubscribe option on messages from spammers: we can't
trust that they'll actually unsubscribe you, and they might even send
you more spam. So you'll only see the unsubscribe option for senders
that we're pretty sure are not spammers and will actually honor your
unsubscribe request. We're being pretty conservative about which
senders to trust in the beginning; over time, we hope to offer the
ability to unsubscribe from more email.
How did you expect it to be shown? Where did you look for it?
Gmail, like most mail readers, doesn't show raw headers. It shows the header information it thinks is relevant. If you want to see the raw headers, there should be a "view source" or "show headers" operation to see them. If you view the message source, and this header is not present, then some mail server has removed it.

Image next to Contact name in Google's Inbox

When receiving emails in Google's Inbox, usually you get as image a coloured circle with the first letter of the contact's mail.
But in rare occasions, there will be an image placeholder, like for instance the example I paste for YouTube. (I know YouTube is owned by Google, but I have seen many other examples)
Is it possible for me to make my own address to have its own image, when someone received an email in Inbox? If so, how?
In Short, this is because you likely don't have a Google+ page with a linked domain matching your email address.

As a takeaway:
Ensure your site is verified on Google+. This is done in Webmaster tools(link), and your webmaster must approve.
Ensure you have adequate email traffic (seems around 1k a week should do it).
When sending from a domain not matching Google+, you'll need to include a snippet of code in your email, and have Gmail approve the link.
Ensure that your email is authenticated against your domain and not your ESPs (or use the Featured Image markup).

How to block spammers from using my public email api

I am working on a web application which allows users to share stuff on a web-page by clicking on an 'email to friend' link; similar to what extole is doing here

on this page if you click on the email icon near "REFER & GET $15", you will see a pop-up where you can enter your own email and a friends email and can edit the subject of the email. When you click send the data is sent to the backend as json. They are using a plain simple url to do this i.e. http://refer.american-giant.com/v2/share.
The problem for me is that somehow spammers got hold of my url (can't mention here) and now they are using it to spam others by using some sort of a script. What I did is I placed a check in the backend api to block an ip if more than 5 share requests originate from it, but it seems that the spammers have a lots of ips (more than 30,000 from what I counted in my logs) so they are still able to send lots of email. One possible solution is to use a captcha to thwart the spamming script. But I am curious that how extole is doing it. They aren't using any captchas; and they are famous too, so it is unlikely that spammers don't know about their publicly accessible api. Can any one shed some light on this?
Note:
1. I am using a third party email service to send the emails.
2. Users are not required to sign in as this defeats the purpose of sharing on a simple website
3. Users can edit the subject and body, thus these are sent to the api call and this is what allows the spammers to abuse the api with their own stuff.

How to prevent emails from a specific address going to Hotmail SPAM?

I have a site on a dedicated server with it's own IP range that has been running for a good few years. We have a notification email address (mailout#domain.com) which we use to send automated emails (activation emails when a user signs up and notification emails if something relevant to them happens, eg someone befriends them or comments on their picture etc). Users can select whether to receive these notifications or not. We have SPF and RDNS setup.
Email from all our other email accounts go to hotmail/gmail/yahoo mail etc correctly into the inbox. However any mail sent from the mailout#domain.com account (whether automatically by the server or manually via outlook) is delivered correctly to the inboxes for yahoo and gmail however goes into Junk in Hotmail (but other #domain.com addresses deliver to hotmail's inbox correctly). It says at the top of the message that MS Smartscreen marked this message as junk. I signed up for MS Smart Network Data Services to monitor the IP and it says it's not blocked but it displays Bot-like behaviour (which kind of makes sense as our notifications are kind of bot like even though they're not spam).
I can't work out what to do to prevent this from happening, we've authenticated the email, there's obviously not a general block on the IP as emails from different accounts on the same domain are going through successfully. It doesn't seem to be the format of the email either because if I send identical emails from mailout#domain.com and contact#domain then the one from contact# gets through to the inbox but the one from mailout# goes through to junk.
I can't really work out what to do and obviously trying to get MS to sort it out is never going to happen and i've used all their available tools. I can obviously try setting up a new email address (eg noreply#domain.com) and using that for notifications but i assume it will only be a matter of time before that gets blocked as well.
I would be immensely grateful for any suggestions anyone has!

You don't have many options. Try to do as many of the following as you can:
Reach out to MS support (don't discard this notion)
Implement DKIM and possibly DMARC (which are vastly more informative than SPF)
Change your IP address to something cleaner
Find and follow bulk sender best practices, e.g. M³AAWG's BCPs, perhaps the Help – I'm on a Blocklist doc
