I was writing some HTML in Sublime Text 2 and I noticed that the auto complete feature was no longer working. Just so we're clear, I'm not referring to the dropdown menu that suggests elements but rather the tag completion. Normally what happens is if I were to type an opening tag all I'd have to do is type the beginning of the closing tag and it would auto complete the tag which obviously saved a lot of time but now it's not working for some reason. I do have package control installed along with quite a few extensions but I heard that this feature is actually built in. I deleted ST2 off my computer and re-downloaded it, and it still isn't working so I'm not sure what else to try.
Is this feature really a default feature in Sublime Text 2? If so, why wasn't it working when I re-installed Sublime Text 2?
I'm on a Mac and I'm running Yosemite.
Thank you for reading.
Installed Sublime Text 3 and it works again.

I want Sublime Text to auto reload files when they are changed in the hard disk (by some process else). Although I am not expecting to have my code open in different places, I use the editor to see resulting files, which is why this feature is crucial to my coding setup. I’ve figured out the option to prompt for the reload as below. But my issue is, it takes a long time for Sublime Text to realize the file has changed and give me the prompt. The files are in a Linux server and I am accessing them through Samba in Windows. Previously I've used Notepad++ which instantly recognize the change and prompt me to reload - so this is not to do with the file systems or hardware. Is there a way to achieve this in Sublime Text or VSCode?
"always_prompt_for_file_reload": true
I am using ST3 on Windows and have installed the package from the website -- https://packagecontrol.io/packages/JavaScript%20Completions
But I am unable to get the pop-ups to work as expected like the example on the packagecontrol.io website.
Are there some settings or anything that can or need to be turned on to get this to work?
Thanks!
After turning on a few other autocompletions and saving the preferences, I restarted Sublime Text 3 and the menu started showing up.
I'd like to run some code in Sublime Text every time I open a file. Is there any way of doing this?
The background, if you want more context: I recently started using Sublime Text as my main editor, and although I love having Vim mode available through the Vintageous plug-in, I just want it to be available, not forcing its way into being turned on every time I open a file.
The author does not seem open to adding an option for being turned off by default--which is entirely okay: I'm not trying to be critical of his choices, and I'm glad he's made his code available to me--so it occurred to me that Sublime Text might offer some way of running some code every time you open a file. If so, I would simply run something that sets the mode to the normal Sublime Text mode (as opposed to Vim's "normal" mode).
You can run code in response to various events by creating a plugin and subclassing sublime_plugin.EventListener. The methods you would be most interested in are on_load() and on_new(). From there, you can either run an existing command, or you can make your own in a different class (probably subclassing sublime_plugin.TextCommand).
I have what I would consider the perfect theme colors for my Sublime Text Editor 3 application; however, the only thing that is very annoying and hard to see is the comment colors. They're the same color as the background but maybe just one shade lighter.
I've seen some other posts on here on editing theme color files within Sublime Text but for some reason it seems like the data isn't taking effect. It's like it's going off of cached data or something.
For example, I'm using the "Monokai" theme. I've edited /opt/sublime_text/Packages/Color Scheme - Default.sublime-package and searched for Monokai. I changed the hex color code under lineHighlight, and restart Sublime. Nothing changes. In fact, I've changed numerous hex color codes under that section and restarted Sublime Text and absolutely nothing has change.d
What am I doing wrong here? I'm running this on Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon
I was unable to change comments color by editing Monokai.tmTheme even after purging cache or sublime reinstall.
For Sublime 3.1.1 Build 3176 editing Monokai.sublime-color-scheme works.
1. Open Package Resource Viewer
2. Open Color Scheme
3. Open Monokai color scheme
4. Add you desired color in variables (pick here)
5. Change comment color
6. Enjoy your new comments color!
I've done exactly what you said, changed the value under lineHighlight in Monokai.tmTheme in Color Scheme - Default.sublime-package, restarted Sublime Text and it worked just fine. I'm running Build 3103 on Manjaro Linux.
Sublime Text stores its settings and cache ~/.config/sublime-text-3, I suggest temporarily renaming this folder, which should take you to a freshly installed state. Then make sure Sublime Text really restarts and that your color scheme changes are really in place.
I encountered the same problem. I found the following way solved my problem.
According to #Саша Черных, one can go to
tmtheme-editor.herokuapp.com/#!/editor/theme/Monokai to create and download a customized theme. Then, in Sublime Text 3, from [References -> Browse Packages...], you can find where your Packages folder locates. Just put the downloaded file "Monokai.tmTheme" in that folder, restart app, then it's done.
I am using Sublime Text 3 and every time I press tab it will add an extra tab. My settings are to display tabs as an actual tab (not spaces) and is equivalent to 4 spaces. My issue causes a single tab to therefore create 2 tabs the length of 8 spaces.
For example, if I am trying to indent it will tab twice and I will have to delete one tab.
If I select a block of text it will indent it twice and result in the text being deleted and I have to undo it once to bring the text back.
Also, when using auto complete I normally hit tab to auto complete the first option. It will select the option and do a tab after it. I am not sure if this is an option or setting but its extremely annoying and I have not found a solution yet.
Sublime Text double tabs on tab key press
Sublime Text deletes/removes text on indentation / tab
Both problems are due to a popup (most often the SFTP free version popup for me) hiding in the background. If you make sure to close the popup windows every time they appear you will not get these issues. You could also pay for Sublime or the plugin to remove the popups.
In OSX you can't focus back on Sublime Text without clicking on the popup, so you will never have these problems.
I just had the same issue. I just restarted Sublime and it worked again, no need to reinstall or change any settings.
I just encountered this problem recently, and it appears to only happen on Windows. In my case, the pop-up "Hello! would you like to purchase sublime?" was open in the background, and that caused this issue for me. Once that pop-up is closed, everything works just fine.
Although the question is three months old at the time of writing, this might help people that are still looking for an answer. After having this issue for a while, it annoyed me so much that I traced back the issue.
The double tab issue only happened after a while, so I figured it was triggered by a certain key combination, being pressed wrongly. I've also noticed that the bug only occurred at Windows, not on Linux (Ubuntu).
After disabling all Sublime Text 3 plugins one by one, I've noticed that, for me, SFTP triggered the bug. This happened upon saving, SFTP started uploading, and displayed a evaluation notice. As I've purchased SFTP (and activated it), the double tab bug never occurred again. Even after enabling all other packages, the double tab never troubled again.
This is only one solution to the problem, your problem might originate from something else. Try to disable packages which might cause the problem and try to find the problem that way. It's a lot of work, but might get you the solution.
This solution worked for me on windows:
Just go to
View -> Layout -> Single
