How would I automatically un-publish a content item according to a schedule in Orchard CMS? I'm guessing this would be a scheduled task, but I'm not sure where to begin.
Use the 'Archive Later' part (enable the 'Archive Later' module), add it on the content definition of your content type.

If we use the UI of build pipeline, we see 'enable system diagnostics' check box as given below. There is also a default variable 'system.debug'.
What is the difference between these two?
One comment here states both could be the same. But if we set system.debug is set to 'true' 'enable system diagnostics' is still unchecked.
They both are the same. It is given here. The main purpose is to set the variable for automated runs. But it can be used for single runs too, which makes the UI checkbox, the additional duplicate feature, pointless.
It is confusing because it appears in build pipeline and not in release pipeline. Also when we run , like you said, even when the variable is set to true, the UI is still not updated(unchecked). Which might require double work(checking diagnostics too) like I did for some time.
"To configure verbose logs for all runs, you can add a variable named system.debug and set its value to true." And ignore the UI check box
In the latest MODx (2.3.1) I'd like to make the 'Container' checkbox (system key isfolder) for a document resource checked by default.
How can this be accomplished?
Thanks.
In modx you can set a default field value in many ways. Possible via a plugin, but you can do it easy through form-customization ( http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/administering-your-site/customizing-the-manager/form-customization-sets )
1. Go to Security --> Form Customization.
2. Create new profile and go edit him.
3. Inside profile create new "Set Rules" on "create resource" action,
live template blank if you do not have to limit on it.
4. Edit new set of rules and set inside property "isfolder" to 1.
5. Save and check how it works.
Within the system "you can't", what you will have to do is create a plugin that fires on one of the document save events, it's going to be a little complicated to implement but there is a discussion and some code examples here for you to follow.

I have a job being created through Azure's Scheduler that I never want to end (i.e. I want to run daily forever). When creating a job it has an 'ending on' calendar type field. Is there any way to specify, no, I want this to 'go on and on my friend'?
Yes you can. After creating the job, edit it and there will be a 'NO END DATE' radio button option. It's weird that you can't specify that when creating the job though.
I need to create a workflow that runs a daily routine.
Is this possible?
If, so. How will it fire?
The workflow will only have to delete some content from the DB when their 'expiry date' has passed.
Could do in code, but think everyone will benefit from it.

Check my module: https://ambaworkflow.codeplex.com/SourceControl/latest
It contains Periodical Event.
It is alfa, but it works...
For deleting expired content you can create your own activity, like this: https://ambaworkflow.codeplex.com/SourceControl/latest#Activities/WriteEventLogActivity.cs
Does anyone know how you can modify the fields in an out-of-the-box (OOTB) Workflow Task (specifically Priority and Due Date)? The OOTB Approval workflow doesn't allow you to set these fields (it allows setting a due date, but not a due time).
I had a cunning plan to create a custom workflow in Visual Studio to set these fields automatically. This involved attaching my custom workflow to the tasks list and editing the tasks as they were created by the Approval workflow. However my custom workflow doesn't fire when new tasks are added to task list by the Approval workflow. And it seems you are unable to manually trigger a workflow on an item in the task list that was created by a workflow.
So in order to set the task fields as they are created by the Approval workflow I'd have to somehow hook into the OOTB Approval workflow directly, which I'm not sure is possible.
Obviously another option would be to recreate the Approval workflow from scratch with InfoPath and Visual Studio, but this seems like overkill to just add priority and time fields to the instantiation form.
Any thoughts?
I've just realised you can edit field such as priority and due date (time) from the task list by selecting Actions > Edit in Datasheet. This works for normal task list items and those created by workflow.
I'd still like to know why a custom workflow that is set to trigger on new items in a task list doesn't fire when a workflow adds items to the task list.
Note: To edit the time a task is due you need to modify the OOTB task list so that the Due Date field is a Date and Time rather than Date Only.
