Magento doesn't change languages - magento-1.8

I'm trying to configure my Magento store to display content in Spanish, but it isn't working.
I've done the following steps:
Download the package from Magento and copying the "es_CO" folder in app > locale
Went to Manage Stores and created a new Store View with code "default_spanish"
Went to Configuration, selected the new store, unchecked the "Use Website" in Locale Options > Locale and choose Español(Colombia).
Flushed the Cache and went to the frontend. The dropdown menu appeared where I'm asked for the language, but when I change stores the language doesn't appears.
I've tried with other language packages and changing the default language, but it isn't working (I'm still getting everything in English). I haven't installed a theme yet.

Try to reindex data also. Config->Index management->Select all->Reindex data.
Try to run Compilation in Config->System->Tools->Compilation->Run Compilation Process.
Also you can try to delete all folders through ftp into root/var/cache. Let me know if it works.Best Regards.

Opencart Extensions issue

So I have just cleaned installed Opencart 2.2.0.1b from Github but i'm having one quite big issue with it.
If I click onto Extensions it only shows -
Extension Installer
Extensions
Modifications
Events
If I click onto Extensions and choose modules (or shipping analytics ect) from the drop down and press install it takes me to a inner page with a message saying "Permission Denied!".
Iv'e tried so far, creating a new admin, setting all permissions (from access permission) adding my ip to the api, adding vqmod, creating a new api, updating, manually adding all permissions to the database (was only a rough copy though and it did cause a few errors) and I think that maybe it.
If anyone can help it will be gratefull.
Thanks!
Have you tried giving permissions to apache?
Is all of your folders are 0755 and files 0644?

Change default gitignore file when creating a new project

Is there a way to change the default file .gitignore that Android Studio creates when creating a new android project? I searched for it in the Settings but could not find anything.
Unfortunately, there is no way to do that automatically, besides the one Ted has mentioned.
However, personally, I don't see this as a big downside, because you can thus safely add your specific templates that fit best to your project.
To be able to do this, do the following:
Go to File -> Settings and from there highlight Plugins. Click on Browse repositories... and you should be able to find the plugin entitled .ignore. Install it.
Now to configure a .gitignore for any project, in case you have no project opened, click on Configure -> Settings. In case you have an open project, go to File -> Other Settings -> Default Settings…. Now expand Version Control and click on Ignore Files Support. You should be able to add a custom user template of your .gitignore-file there.
To use any template you've added there, just right click on your .gitignore and click on Add template…. There you'll be able to add your custom specifications, however, many others are given by default, so you don't need to do a google search for an OS or language specific .gitignore configuration.
Good question. I tried manually modifying the project_ignore template in the Android Studio installation (located at C:\Program Files\Android\Android Studio\plugins\android\lib\templates\gradle-projects\NewAndroidProject\root in my Windows installation). That works, but it causes any future updates to Android Studio to fail unless you restore the original template first.
I'm posting this as an answer because it works. But it has such a bad down-side that I'm also starting a bounty in the hopes that someone can come up with a better solution.
On Mac, Applications->Android Studio.app(right click -> show package contents) -> contents-> plugins\android\lib\templates\gradle-projects\NewAndroidProject\root\ , i tried modifying, project_ignore file. i dont see error every time while looking for updates. instead of replacing, i appended at the end.

Get last version not working Visual Studio 2012 in TFS

I have Visual Studio 2012 and when I'm trying to get last version it doesn't work and it says that it's says that "All files are up to date". It is because I deleted file locally after I got it from TFS and I guess in Visual Studios memory it's written that there were no changes from that time I got it and now it doesn't let me download it although I don't have it.
How to "tell" VS that my local folder is changed?
P.S. I guess it can be also done with "Get specific version" but that option doesn't appear to me when i right-click on file I want to get from server.
EDIT:
I found that my workspace changed automatically (or rather with me not being concentrated while making new project), so VS was actually checking other directory all the time. For all those who might have the same problem - check your local path and if you see that it's not good, change it.
Here is how you can change it:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tfsversioncontrol/thread/d0c6982f-4f5e-4b1c-830b-3af9fb127922/
You are right, TFS saves what version he gaves you and changing/deleting it without to notify TFS, you won't get anything. The "Get Specific Version ..." is what you need. Therefore rightclick on the item you want, in context menu choose "Advanced --> Get Specific Version". Check the second option to "Overwrite all files even if the local version matches the specified version".
Not saying this is a solution, but I had similar issues after remapping one of my projects. Ultimately what I did was delete my local Solution File (.sln) and re-opened the project via the Project File (.vbproj). After that I was able to see all of my latest file versions that appeared to not be down loading. Once you click save on anything it will re-prompt you to save a new solution file.
i don't know if this is specifically what the OP was trying to accomplish, but here's my story: my machine crashed, had to get it reimaged; once VS2015 was installed, i went to source control explorer, right clicked the branch i needed >> Advanced >> Get Specific Version, checked the "Overwrite..." boxes, clicked "Get" and got the "All files up to date..." message. buster. obviously the code was NOT up to date.
fast forward: i fixed this issue by deleting my workspace's pertinent mapping to code base i needed, saved it, and re-added it.
hope this saves some headaches.
You'll want to Get Specific Version and to check the box to enable overwriting of existing files. That will ensure you're actually up to date.
You can also switch from a server worspace to the new local workspace which should also help solve issues like this.

Migrating working sets from old to new Domino Designer installation

I am trying to migrate my working sets to a new installation. While searching the web I found this link which says that by copying the file <DATA FOLDER>\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.ui.workbench\workingsets.xml we can get our original working sets back. I tried it, but it only restores my working sets and they are empty with no database inside them.
What am I missing here? Does any one know how to get all the working sets from old installation and put it into new installation of Domino Designer?
Databases in designer are held as eclipse projects, so you would need to copy project directories inside workspace directory. You can see their directory names in designer just after database title.
Although, I wouldn't recommend that, because different designer versions may have different structure of its content.
I had the same issue. I migrated from the same Notes 8.5.3 release on the old computer to the new computer, so after reading the tips above, I decided to just replace the whole workspace folder under the C:\Lotus\Notes\Data\ folder on my new PC with the workspace folder on my old PC.
It worked! When I opened the Designer client, I had all my working sets complete with database icons. I don't know anything about the workspace folder, so I probably would be cautious applying such an approach if I were migrating to a new release, but since I had not yet started to work on the new PC, I was prepare to reinstall the software if necessary.
FYI, if you don't want to lose your custom commands in the Domino Administrator client when migrating to a new PC or when installing another release of Notes on the same PC, you simply copy the domadmin.nsf database file from the old environment and replace the one in the new environment (if it exists, it won't yet exist if you haven't launched the app after a new install). If you have upgraded to a new Notes release, then open this domadmin.nsf DB in Designer in the new environment and refresh its design from the StdAdminDatabase template (domadmin.ntf).

The Notes client being totally closed, backup or restore the following directories :
..data/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/..
com.ibm.designer.domino.ide.resources
org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects
org.eclipse.core.resources/.root
org.eclipse.core.resources/.safetable
org.eclipse.ui.workbench

Need to change template styles in Liferay

I want to change look and feel of liferay using css. i am very new to liferay. Can any give me any idea to do the changes. Thanks in advance
The step-by-step seems complicated, but it's not that bad .....
1a) download and unpack the plugins sdk for the version of liferay you want to use. All the downloads are on the sf page http://lportal.sourceforge.net/
1b) make sure you have the latest version of ant and the JDK version that matches your liferay version (1.5.x or 1.6.x)
2) there are a few main folders in the kit. Change into the "themes" folder and run the create script there in this format (on linux or mac you'll need to make the .sh files executable)
c:\liferay\plugins\themes >create my-name "My Theme Description"
linux/mac $>./create.sh my-name "My Theme Description"
This will create a skeleton theme in a folder called my-name-theme and a folder within it called _diff.
Make whatever modifications you want WITHIN THE _diff FOLDER. (except changes to the properties file within WEB-INF)
Once you've made changes run "ant compile" from within the my-name-theme folder and the sdk will run through it's paces and spit out a .war file to the "dist" folder in the sdk root. You can upload this to the site using the plugin installer
OR ... if you configure the sdk to know where your development server is you can run "ant deploy" from the theme's folder and let the autodeploy magic in liferay do the work.
Once the theme is installed just assign it using the "look and feel" tab in the "manage pages" tool.
TIP : Make most of your changes to the custom.css file .... keeps things easy to upgrade.
TIP : Development is really slow for CSS if you do this for every change .... so if you're running a dev server add a style tag just before the end of the head tag that points into your _diffs/css folder. href="file:///...../_diffs/custom.css". This way whatever edits you make will be compiled into the next version of the war and will override the currently installed version without reuploading. make sure to remove the link before you put it on a live server.
The liferay.com documentation is great and there's a "themer's guide" i can't find the link to right now that got me started.
We've done a number of LifeRay customizations for various companies but your question is too vague for us to answer. If you are just looking to change a few colours and fonts then editing the CSS is fine, but if you are looking to completely change the layout then you need to delve in to the template files and start working with the XHTML.
Provide more details and we might be able to prod you in the right direction :D
IMO theme development for liferay can be quite slow to start with. I have found two different approach quite useful. It works for me, might work for you as well.
If you edit files inside _diff folder AFAIK you have to deploy every
time two see the changes , which can be quite frustrating for
front-end developers. An approch can be edit the css file directly
in tomcat/themename folder. Copy the changed every couple of hours
or so in the _diff folder and deploy. In my case the CSS stays in
C:\liferay-portal-6.1.0\tomcat-7.0.23\webapps\\css\
Also if you are aware liferay supports Sass now. So it you are writing Sass "deploy" may be you most likely option. But I have also figured out a way to speed up that process. Install ruby (if you are in windows, in Mac its preinstalled) > Install Compass > and create a blank compass project. Start "compass watch" . Open bothe scss file and the compiled css file in your IDE. "compass watch" will poll for changes in your scss file and put the compiled output in the css file. Every while you may copy the css output in the css file in theme folder or directly in firebug or web-inspector in chrome/safari.
I have found these are faster dev practice than deploying everytime or completely developing on firebug/web-inspector.
Also if anyone know of better method, specially things like only CSS/JS deploy (or simple copy for that matter if one is not writing Scss), please let us know.
You can make your custom style with the liferay plugins sdk, which can be found here: http://www.liferay.com/downloads/liferay-portal/additional-files
There is a themes folder included, in which you can create a new theme. Liferay generates here a basic theme as a boilerplate, which then you can customize and deploy to your liferay installation.
You can
mvn archetype:generate
then select “liferay-theme-archetype (Provides an archetype to create Liferay themes.)” et voilà you are ready tu customize your theme.
Best practice recommends that you make all your custom themes using only the custom.css file, and that you not override any of the templates unless absolutely necessary. This will make future upgrades far easier, as you won't have to manually modify your templates to add support for new Liferay features.
Deploy the newly created theme using
mvn clean package liferay:deploy
