I installed VS2013 Update2 and CTP1.1.
I'm trying to create a blank cordovaapp project. This error is appearing. How can I fix it?

Multi-Device Hybrid App projects do not work if there is a space in the project path (this is a Cordova related issue). In this case, your username has a space.
The only way to resolve this at present is create a different user without spaces in the name and create a new Hybrid app project.

I was in the middle of working on some minor code changes when all of a sudden I started getting the following error on startup:
A host error has occurred during startup operation '78d5d8fd-e81c-4707-87ca-6b801430fef1'.
[2021-01-08T13:02:40.279Z] System.IO.FileSystem: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\schiefaw\AppData\Local\AzureFunctionsTools\Releases\3.17.0\workers'.
I looked at the path and found everything exists until I get to "workers".
I, of course, assumed it was something I did, so I backed out all changes to no effect. Then I uninstalled visual studio and all Azure products I could find and reinstalled to no effect. I created a new user (since the file it is looking for is in my user folder) to no effect.
I then created an entirely new instance of a windows virtual machine and installed the development environment to no effect (same error).
I am completely stuck on this. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try next?

I think this is a bug from that 3.17 release. But here is a work-around: you can add the "workers" folder (empty folder) and it should work. Another way if you have a copy of the previous version (such as 3.16.x), you can copy the content to the 3.17.0 one.

I add licensed select.pdf.dll to my SharePoint project. This dll file has added in both the visual studio reference and the package section(Deploy target as 'Global Assembly Cache (GAC)').
I was not able to deploy my solution to my sharepoint development server, with the error message
“Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': Error: Cannot add the specified assembly to the global assembly cache: Select.Pdf.dll.”
I have googled the problem, someone cannot deploy because the .dll they want to deploy already existed in %windir%\assembly folder and the .dll is locked by other process.

However, the "Select.Pdf.dll" I want to deploy has never been deployed before, the %windir%\assembly and %windir%\Microsoft.Net\assembly folders do not have same name dll. file in them.
I have tried to restart VS, and reset IIS. the problem still existed.

You need to add the relevant .dep files also. When you add your assembly to the advanced section of the package you can add Class Resources at the bottom of the dialog. In my case I had to add Select.Tools.dep and Select.Html.dep before I could deploy my sharepoint solution.
#Mundi's answer works, only clarification is that for us, only selecting Select.Html.dep was enough. It is to be noted that you have to specify that you want to view all files (not just .dll) when selecting the additional Class Resources.
Alternative solution that worked for development scenario (but not advisable for production) is using appropriate gacutil.exe to your .net version.
I have an issue when i execute my app.exe, there is an error which is revealed only in the ".exe", if i try todo the same thing when i use the sources, there is no problem, i think the problem is when there is a call of the update method from a datastore, it return -1 with generated .exe and 0 when i execute sources.
i have tried to refresh any library from my app, before building, but the issue remains, for information the app is using a DB2 DATABASE, and it is built and run in a windows7 environment.
The likely cause is that when you built the exe, the DataWindow object assigned to the DataStore wasn't included. You need to use a .pbr file in the Project object. Look in the help file under 'deploying your application'.
I have encountered this problem as well when I deployed strictly to a *.exe file. The problem went away when I deployed to a *.exe with a *.pbd. This is established on the "libraries" tab of your project by checking the pbd checkbox.
An 'exe' only deployment can't handle hard coded 'literal strings' in your code. Creating and deploying 'pbd' library will allow 'literal strings'.
I'm trying to build a Web Deploy package via msbuild on a new machine and it's not working. It builds fine on other machines, but here I get the following vague error:

I'm not sure what 'redirection.config' is, and the line reference to the .targets file doesn't help at all.
How can I fix this?
redirection.config is a file that lives in the IIS configuration directory, typically %SystemRoot%\System32\inetsrv\config. Here are two possibilities:
The account building your project doesn't have access to the IIS config dir. This might happen if you have an automated build identity with special permissions, or you if you need to start Visual Studio as an administrator.
You don't have IIS installed at all on the new machine. Check to be sure the IIS config directory, and redirection.config in particular, even exist. If not, you'll need to install IIS.
If you receive this error when deploying with Release Managment (via IISConfig.exe) be sure that the deployment agent service account is in the local Administrators group. You may need to restart the deployment agent service.

For me, simply running visual studio as admin gave it the elevated permissions it needed to operate against this folder.

I got this error when I tried to use a relative path for the contentPath setting. I fixed it by settings the contentPath to the full path of the folder. Without the full path, the contentPath provider thinks it is a site path or application path and looks for it in in the IIS configuration.
This error just appeared to me when my C# project was referencing the Microsoft.Web.Administration, Version=7.9.0.0 assembly. It looks like this assembly only works with IIS Express. For IIS, we must use Microsoft.Web.Administration, Version=7.0.0.0.
After hours of testing and troubleshooting this problem turned out to be an issue with the users profile.
This was found by logging in as myself and I didn't receive the same issue.
To fix this issue:
Log into the machine as an administrator and delete the contents of the corrupt profile from C:\Users (or rename the folder to username.OLD)
Open up the registry and navigate here – HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Find the corrupt profile and rename this to .OLD or remove it.

As this is high in search engines when looking for this error, I'll post my solution.
I used Azure Pipelines to release the app to IIS and had this error. My issue was that I mistakenly used Build Agent job instead of Deployment Group job when configuring the release pipeline.
On server 2012 this error can be caused by UAC which needs to be disabled via the registry.

This is my first azure project and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
I'm trying to get some configuration inside an MVC 3 webrole and for this I'm using:
RoleEnvironment.GetConfigurationSettingValue(KeyName)
When I run the application on the emulator i get his error:
BC30451: 'RoleEnvironment' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.
I tried to add the full namespace like this:
Microsoft.WindowsAzure.ServiceRuntime.RoleEnvironment.GetConfigurationSettingValue(KeyName)
And I get this error:
BC30456: 'ServiceRuntime' is not a member of 'WindowsAzure'.
However, I can access the RoleEnvironment inside the "OnStart" event of the WebRole class.
So, is it the expected behavior? If yes, how am I supposed to read configuration through the whole project?

I started a new solution based on seanost suggestion and it worked well, so I figured the problem wasn't VS. After a few try and errors I finally found a solution, I just don't have an explanation for it :-)
Under my MVC project I have a folder called "App_Code".
Since i come from web forms development I'm use to the name so I created this folder to keep some classes. If I try to access "RoleEnviroment" from a class inside this folder the project compiles but won't even open, no matter what I try to access it will throw the same error.
If I rename the folder or move the files to another folder (let's say "Code"), it just works.
As I said before, I just don't know why it happens (and it doesn;t really matter now :-)
FYI, if you're using Visual Studio's Azure templates, references to the following namespaces are included by default, so it's not necessary to set Copy Local to true:
