Let's say I have this code:

Where Person is a class I defined in the file Person.js. Before invoking the code that executes above, I want to check to see if the Person class exists and if not I want to include it using require('./'+className). Doing this all dynamically, I only have a string to start with:
var className = 'Person';
How do I use my className string to identify if Person exists in Node JS? I know in the browser I can do this:
if(window[className])
Ah, I figured it out. In Node you can do:
var className = 'Person';
if(global[className])
It's impossible with Node.js to access the variables declared with var, and, as it is impossible to get a variable from a string in Javascript, you can not do what you want.
However, there should be another way to do what you want, if it is really a necessity, maybe you can use some dirty tricks like the one described here (it may not work given your project architecture):

This is how you can define a variable in the global namespace:
global.nameofthecontant = value
This is something that you don't want to do in node.js though. Your question possibly is a duplicate of this question: node.js global variables?
Change your code from this:
global.keys = dataBaseInfo[keys];
to this:
global[keys] = dataBaseInfo[keys];
When you want to access or assign a property and the property name is in a variable, you use the obj[variableName] syntax.
You could also use Object.assign here if you just want to copy a bunch of properties from one object to another:
Object.assign(global, databaseInfo);
As others have said, it is usually frowned upon to use globals in this way in node.js. Instead, you would typically expose these constants in a module and then just require in the module in any other module that wants to access the constants. This makes your code more modular and makes each module more self-contained.

Just checking out for the best ways to create a framework for my Application.
As, I have seen in other automation tools, I feel the heart of an automation framework using any tool(UI Based) is the way it's object Repository is created i.e. how well the UI objects are defined. A Cleaner and well defined Object Repository always proves to be very helpful when it comes to updating your tests.
I am trying to discover the best way to store my UIObjects so that in case of any UI changes in my Application, I have to put minimum effort to update my automation test.
Also, If an Object changes in application, updating it only at one place should solve the problem.
This can be any kind of change like :
->change in just a property(This I feel would be very easy to update in automation Test. The best and Easiet way I feel is to simply update the .uitest file(the xml file) if possible.)
->change in hierarchy and position
->entirely new object added
For the 2nd and 3rd changes, updating scripts become a difficult job, esp if the UIObject is being referred at may places, in many TestMethods, or Modules.
Also, I have generally seen that in Test Methods, Variable Declarations are done to create a reference to the UIMap objects and those variables are further used in the TestMethod Code.
So, in this case If the UI of my application changes, I will have to update the variable decalaration in each of the Test Methods. I want to reduce this effort to changing the variable decalaration only at one place. OfCourse, I cannot have all the code inside only one Test Method. One way that came to my mind is as:
Can't I have simply one common place for all these Variable decalarations. We can give a unique and understandable name to each UIObject e.g.: The decalratoions will look like:

and use these variables wherever required. Hence, In case of any chnages also, there will be only one place where you will need to update thse objects.
But for this, These varaibles must be made STATIC. What can be problem with making these Object Variables static?
Please provide your suggestion on this topic. May be what I am thinking is not possible or practical. I just want to choose the best way to start with before I go too far with the automation scripts and realize later that my approach wasn't a good one.

Look into using descriptive programming instead of using the UIMaps.
Make a static class with generic functions to assist. Going to give you some examples of how to set it up.

I'm trying to write an Oregon Trail type story in java. In one of the methods later on, you are asked to input your name. I've used this to get the name:
Scanner keys = new Scanner(System.in);
String name = keys.nextLine();
I would like to keep referring to the player as the name they entered in other methods and I'm unsure on how to call it. Any help is appreciated.
When you declare
String name = keys.nextLine();
You are creating a string inside the scope of that method. As you probably noticed, it's no longer accessible once the method finishes. Rather than storing the character name in a variable local to that method, you want to save it to a variable in an outside scope.
In Java's object oriented design, the ideal place to put that would be an instance variable for the relevant class. Say you have some master class called "Game". An instance of this class will represent a running game, have methods for interacting with the game, and hold data about the game. You could have an instance variable in Game declared as:
String playerName;
If that method is within Game, then you would simply have the code:
Scanner keys = new Scanner(System.in);
this.playerName = keys.nextLine();
Since you're assigning the name to a variable that exists outside the scope of the method, it will remain accessible to you later. The exact approach to this depends on how you structured your classes.
A more general solution, which could work better than the above solution depending on your code structure, would be to have that method return a String, rather than set one. For instance:
String getPlayerName() {
Scanner keys = new Scanner(System.in);
return keys.nextLine();
}
A method like that would return a string holding the name, which would allow you to work with it outside of the method.
After spending a year working with the Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk namespace, I just discovered yesterday the Entity.FormattedValues property contains the text value for Entity specific (ie Local) Option Set texts.
The reason I didn't discover it before, is there is no early bound method of getting the value. i.e. entity.new_myOptionSet is of type OptionSetValue which only contains the int value. You have to call entity.FormattedValues["new_myoptionset"] to get the string text value of the OptionSetValue.
Therefore, I'd like to get the crmsrvcutil to auto-generate a text property for local option sets. i.e. Along with Entity.new_myOptionSet being generated as it currently does, Entity.new_myOptionSetText would be generated as well.
I've looked into the Microsoft.Crm.Services.Utility.ICodeGenerationService, but that looks like it is mostly for specifying what CodeGenerationType something should be...
Is there a way supported way using CrmServiceUtil to add these properties, or am I better off writing a custom app that I can run that can generate these properties as a partial class to the auto-generated ones?
Edit - Example of the code that I would like to be generated
Currently, whenever I need to access the text value of a OptionSetValue, I use this code:
var textValue = OptionSetCache.GetText(service, entity, e => e.New_MyOptionSet);
The option set cache will use the entity.LogicalName, and the property expression to determine the name of the option set that I'm asking for. It will then query the SDK using the RetrieveAttriubteRequest, to get a list of the option set int and text values, which it then caches so it doesn't have to hit CRM again. It then looks up the int value of the New_MyOptionSet of the entity and cross references it with the cached list, to get the text value of the OptionSet.
Instead of doing all of that, I can just do this (assuming that the entity has been retrieved from the server, and not just populated client side):
var textValue = entity.FormattedValues["new_myoptionset"];
but the "new_myoptionset" is no longer early bound. I would like the early bound entity classes that gets generated to also generate an extra "Text" property for OptionSetValue properties that calls the above line, so my entity would have this added to it:
public string New_MyOptionSetText {
return this.GetFormattedAttributeValue("new_myoptionset"); // this is a protected method on the Entity class itself...
}
Could you utilize the CrmServiceUtil extension that will generate enums for your OptionSets and then add your new_myOptionSetText property to a partial class that compares the int value to the enums and returns the enum string
Again, I think specifically for this case, getting CrmSvcUtil.exe to generate the code you want is a great idea, but more generally, you can access the property name via reflection using an approach similar to the accepted answer # workarounds for nameof() operator in C#: typesafe databinding.

The latest version of the CRM Early Bound Generator includes a Fields struct that that contains the field names. This allows accessing the FormattedValues to be as simple as this:
var textValue = entity.FormattedValues[MyEntity.Fields.new_MyOptionSet];
You could create a new property via an interface for the CrmSvcUtil, but that's a lot of work for a fairly simple call, and I don't think it justifies creating additional properties.
Can a variable be named with a string or character array, in any language? Basically I want something like:
Var_String = "varname"
Var_String as double
And then I could fill the double varname.
If it helps im trying to make a program that can declare variables on the fly, while running. Even if thats not possible, I am open to workarounds even if they're impractical, although I would prefer that workarounds be in VB6, C++, or PHP, because I know those languages already, but they dont have to be.
Javascript is completely capable of declaring variable names on the fly. A javascript object can be treated "associatively" as a dictionary. Observe:
var testyObject = function()
{
Awesome = "hello";

var myObject = new testyObject();
alert(myObject.Awesome); // creates an alert window that says hello
alert(myObject['Awesome']); // the same as above
myObject[myObject.Awesome] = "woo!"; // We just created a property on the object with the name "hello"
alert(myObject.hello); // creates an alert window that says "woo!"
I also believe you can add them to your immediate scope rather than as properties on other objects by using this["whatever you want it named"] = "woo!"; but I'm not certain, someone can correct me on that if such does not work.

The usual way to do something like this is called a hash. You store name/value pairs and given the name, can look up its value. You can generally define them to store any sort of object. In fact, in some languages, objects themselves are essentially hashes with a few extra properties.
