NetSuite Suitescript Search Access the Value - netsuite

I cannot for the life of me get the returned value from a search in NetSuite. When I use the debugger I can see the value, but I cannot access it.
var columns = new nlobjSearchColumn('custentity_employeenumber', null, 'max');
var results = new nlapiSearchRecord('employee', null, filters, columns);
var result = results[0].getValue('custentity_employeenumber');
Every time the debugger shows the result variable as null...I don't get it. I can see the value in the debugger...
I really just need the 2014103...or am I building the search wrong?

When you put a summary on a search column, you must specify the summary when you retrieve the value as well. So, because you have:
new nlobjSearchColumn('custentity_employeenumber', null, 'max');
you must retrieve the value with:
results[0].getValue('custentity_employeenumber', null, 'max');

Unable to retrieve custom list value from saved search in netsuite

Creating saved search in suitescript using nlapiSearchRecord. All the column value returns except one column which is type is custom list.
How could I get value of custom list?
To get the value I'm using code lines below.
columns[0] = new nlobjSearchColumn( 'customlist' );
var searchresults = nlapiSearchRecord( 'customrecord', null, filters, columns );
To get the column value
var listValue = searchresult.getListValue( 'customlist' );
I assume you've simplified your code in trying to be clear or confidential but there will never be fields or records with those ids.
from a search you would do:
var searchResult = searchResults[0];
searchResult.getValue(fieldId, joinName, summary)
// or in your case
searchResult.getValue('customlist'); //returns id of list value or simple result of non-list/record fields
or (and I think this is the one you want)
searchResult.getText('customlist'); // returns the display value of the list/record field.

Dynamic Object Reference data.d.results.[fieldobjectname].[fieldname] in JavaScript

BACKGROUND:
Using SharePoint 2013, calling a REST Ajax call in javascript. When successful, this returns results in a data set, which I put in a variable called data.
My OData syntax uses $expand on a SharePoint Person {the datatype} field, such that I can return the person's name, as well as their ID.
So, in the call.done function(data, status, jqXHR) , if the field being "expanded" is called "Employee", then the data results can be accessed by using a for loop and step through the returned data using:
for (var i=0; i<data.d.results.length i++) {
var id data.d.results[i].Employee.Id
var emp data.d.results[i].Employee.Title
}
DESIRE:
I'd like to dynamically pass a field name, such that I can do something like:
var emp = data.d.results[i].[pField].Title
PROBLEM:
This Bracket Notation, nor any variation, works.
QUESTION:
Is it possible to dynamically reference this object name, returned by the $Expand [object], and if so, what is the proper format?

Azure DocumentDB: order by and filter by DateTime

I have the following query:
SELECT * FROM c
WHERE c.DateTime >= "2017-03-20T10:07:17.9894476+01:00" AND c.DateTime <= "2017-03-22T10:07:17.9904464+01:00"
ORDER BY c.DateTime DESC
So as you can see I have a WHERE condition for a property with the type DateTimeand I want to sort my result by the same one.
The query ends with the following error:
Order-by item requires a range index to be defined on the corresponding index path.
I have absolutely no idea what this error message is about :(
Has anybody any idea?
You can also do one thing that don't require indexing explicitly. Azure documentBD is providing indexing on numbers field by default so you can store the date in long format. Because you are already converting date to string, you can also convert date to long an store, then you can implement range query.
I think I found a possible solution, thanks for pointing out the issue with the index.
As stated in the following article https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/documentdb/documentdb-working-with-dates#indexing-datetimes-for-range-queries I changed the index for the datatype string to RangeIndex, to allow range queries:
DocumentCollection collection = new DocumentCollection { Id = "orders" };
collection.IndexingPolicy = new IndexingPolicy(new RangeIndex(DataType.String) { Precision = -1 });
await client.CreateDocumentCollectionAsync("/dbs/orderdb", collection);
And it seems to work! If there are any undesired side effects I will let you know.

Initiate ApexPage.StandardSetController with List causes exception being thrown in later pagination calls

I have a Paginated List displayed on the visual force page and in the backend I was using a StandardSetController to control the pagination. However, one column on the table is an aggregated field whose calculation is done in a wrapper class. Recently, I want to sort the paginated list against the calculated field. And unfortunately the calculated result cannot be done on the data model(SObject) level.
So I am thinking to passed a sorted list of SObject to the StandardSetController constructor. That is to sort the record before it has been pass into the StandardSetController.
The code is like below:
List<Job__c> jobs = new List<Job__c>();
List<Job__c> tempJobs = Database.Query(basicQuery + filterExpression);
//sort with values
List<JobWrapper> jws = createJobWrappers(tempJobs);
JobWrapper.sortBy = JobWrapper.SORTBY_CALCULATEDFIELD_ASC;
jws.sort();
for(JobWrapper jw : jws){
jobs.add(jw.JobRecord);
}
jobs = jobs.deepClone(true, true, true);
StandardSetController con = new ApexPages.StandardSetController(jobs);
con.setPageSize(10);
However after executing the last line system throw exception:Modified rows exist in the records collection!
I did not modify any rows in the controller. Could anyone help me understanding the exception?

Is it possible to use the search results of one search as the criteria for a new search in NetSuite

Using NetSuite is it possible to embed a search within another search? I have a search that I need that will be effectively using another search's results in the criteria.
The basic structure of my search is:
Return all non-inventory skus, starting with a specific prefix,
Where the occurrence of the previously mentioned skus on a custom field on
Inventory-Part records is greater than 0.
This is then intended to be used for alerts
I'm not sure how to build this within NetSuite's search builder.
I don't think this pertains to any scripting as m_cheung suggested.
To answer your question, yes this is doable via saved search.
Transaction > Management > Saved Search > New
Select 'Item' from the list
In the criteria section:
Type = 'Non-Inventory Items'
External ID = starts with (...your desired prefix) (NOTE: Assuming that prefix is the external ID from your question)
Select the Custom field and criteria is greater than 0.
Save and Run to confirm if this is the desired result.
using nlapiSearchRecord(RECORDTYPE, JOIN_, __SEARCHFILTERSARRAY, __SEARCHCOLUMNSARRAY) you can return the results of a search and pass the returned data further into script logic
for example if you build search1 using a searchFilter array and a searchColumn array then pass these arrays into nlapiSearchRecord('item'), you can assign this call to a variable:
var searchresults = nlapiSearchRecord('item', null, searchFiltersArray, searchColumnsArray);
then using searchresults (which is an nlobjSearchResults object) you can pull out your returned search data for criteria in search2:
if(searchresults)
{
for(i=0;i<searchresults.length; i++)
{
var search2FilterAndColumnData = searchresults[i].getAllColumns();
}
}
You can use a saved search for creating another search in suitescript.
Somewhat like ,
var arrSearchResult = nlapiSearchRecord( null , SAVED_SEARCH_ID , FILTERS , COLUMNS);
