I'm trying to do my first app and one of the things that i'm triying is to change between different screens when someone slides the screen with the finger. But i'm just new at this and i don't really know how to do this.
Could anyone help me? Thanks in advance!
PS: I'm using Kotlin
You'll want to use a ViewPager and either BottomNavigationView NavigationView or ActionBar.. Then you will use Fragments and Activitys that contain code to handle the individual parts of your app.
The ViewPager is what gives the swipeability and then you probably want tabs of some type so the user knows which tab they're on. The BottomNavigationView and NavigationView are how you display tabs. I've got examples in my profile (and a finished project on github) but I use Xamarin.Android not kotlin.
This appears to be a good tutorial on how to do it in Kotlin:

It's too much to type out on here.
Am new to android programming. I want to create a little spinner on my title bar in webview when a link is clicked. An example is the one in opera mini (on the top left) shown in this photo. Pls I'll really appreciate your help.
Implement toolbar with progress bar or spinner. Then setup javascriptInterface for your webview and update toolbar's spinner when it's called from webview.
I want to develop a new home screen application for android. I saw the default home screen in my android 2.3.3 device, when ever I swipe the home screen left and right, the background wallpaper also sliding left and right. What is that view? How to get the same effect in an app?
Is it ViewPager? I checked the ViewPager class, but I didn't found any common background image for all views in that.
You probably want to use a canvas with a draw-able, then detect the users swiping and animate it in the background. It is likely that the default android backgrounds are doing the same. You wont be drawing the unseen portions of the view.

I suggest doing their lunar lander tutorial to learn how to use the canvas first.
You will make a canvas the background to your app and then lay your other ui elements on top of it unless you make the ui based inside the canvas.
I want to develop a panel with animation same as notification panel. I mean to say the notification panel is a cool control where you grab and slide down the notification bar and see all the notifications.
Actually, I am having 2 UI , 1st should be shown with Button at top, when user click on that button, the 2nd UI with listview items should be slide down same as notification panel and again when user click or drag the 2nd UI at the top side, then 2nd UI should be become invisible. I hope i made clear my question.
From Christian's answer, I am trying to use a sliding drawer that will display a
list of options. I need this to expand over the current ListView on the page.
So if anybody know how to implement such layout or UI with sliding down animation then please share it.
Please suggest how to build with such control or layout? any ideas or suggestions
Thanx
Have you tried the SlidingDrawer widget?
Paresh I found a solution in this post about sliding drawers.
android misc widgets has it implemented , though it still has some flaws but it will definitely prove helpful.
Though in the same SO post CommonsWare has quoted :
...
You similarly cannot make a
SlidingDrawer that descends from the
top.
Good Luck.
You can use SlidingTray from: http://aniqroid.sileria.com to make this happen
http://aniqroid.sileria.com/doc/api/com/sileria/android/view/SlidingTray.html
Alternatively you can also use a custom PopupWindow class which is part of Android API.
I'm working with the mobile graphic framework LWUIT (V. 1.2) to develop an application for Nokia N97.
Results are striking and elegant but I have a problem: when I rotate mobile screen, menu bar doesn't switch from bottom to the right of screen. Commands remain on the bottom while correspondent mobile buttons are now on the right...
Is there an event that I can intercept when the user open or rotate mobile screen? Or I have to extend some library class to make this behaviour automatic? Or anithing else?
Anyone of you can describe a solution?
Thanks in advance
I didn't use LWUIT much, but you can insert following parameter to jad:
Nokia-MIDlet-App-Orientation: portrait
This should disable auto-rotating on Nokia S60 5th.
If you want to catch an event when the screen rotates, you can check canvas.getWidth() and canvas.getHeight(). If device's screen is not square, its width and height should change.
