Add action on ObservableList item in javafx - javafx-2

I am using javafx to make a ListView in which add Observable List which contains buttons.
I want to add action on each buttons in this lists.Any help...
ObservableList videoLists = null;
if (listView.getSelectionModel().getSelectedItem().equals("class 8")) {
classTitleID.setText("class 8 video lists");
File physicsFolder = new File("D:\\videos\\physics");
File[] listOfFiles = physicsFolder.listFiles();
videoLists = FXCollections.observableArrayList();
for (File file : listOfFiles) {
if (file.isFile()) {
videoLists.add(new Button(file.getName()));
physicsListview.setItems(videoLists);
}
}
}

simply do
for (File file : listOfFiles) {
if (file.isFile()) {
Button button = new Button(file.getName());
button.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
//your action
}
});
videoLists.add(button);
physicsListview.setItems(videoLists);
}
}

It's generally a bad idea to have Node subclasses as the data type in ListViews (or TableViews, ComboBoxes, etc): it breaks MVC. Make your ListView a ListView<File> and use a cellFactory to show the button in the ListView cells. You can set the action handler there.
ListView<File> physicsListview = new ListView<>();
ObservableList<File> videoLists = FCollections.observableArrayList();
//...
for (File file : listOfFiles) {
if (file.isFile()) {
videoLists.add(file);
}
}
physicsListview.setItems(videoLists);
physicsListview.setCellFactory(new Callback<ListView<File>, ListCell<File>>() {
#Override
public ListCell<File> call(ListView<File>()) {
final Button button = new Button();
return new ListCell<File>() {
#Override
public void updateItem(final File item, boolean empty) {
super.updateItem(item, empty);
if (empty) {
setGraphic(null);
} else {
button.setText(item.getName());
button.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(ActionEvent event) {
// handle action.
// You can access the File object item here if needed
}
});
setGraphic(button);
}
}
};
});
});

Creating a very custom list

I'm developping an application, and now, I don't know what to do next:
I have a list of elements, each element has some informations + an ID + a logo.
What I want to do is creating a list like in the picture
List
Of course, I want it in a single layer, with the logo, some informations, and a button to define an action; where I could use the ID of the selected item.
I did some research, may be I found some relative subjects, but none of what I want.
My list is a
ArrayList<ArrayList<String>>
filled by data from database.
Thank you
Here it is:
public class Avancee extends Activity {
// Log tag
private static final String TAG = MainActivity2.class.getSimpleName();
// Movies json url
private static final String url = "http://blabla.com/movie.json";
private ProgressDialog pDialog;
private List<Movie> movieList = new ArrayList<Movie>();
private ListView listView;
private CustomListAdapter adapter;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
listView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list);
adapter = new CustomListAdapter(this, movieList);
listView.setAdapter(adapter);
pDialog = new ProgressDialog(this);
// Showing progress dialog before making http request
pDialog.setMessage("Loading...");
pDialog.show();
// changing action bar color
getActionBar().setBackgroundDrawable(
new ColorDrawable(Color.parseColor("#1b1b1b")));
// Creating volley request obj
JsonArrayRequest movieReq = new JsonArrayRequest(url,
new Response.Listener<JSONArray>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONArray response) {
//Log.d(TAG, response.toString());
hidePDialog();
String result = getIntent().getStringExtra("ITEM_EXTRAA");
System.out.println(result);
try{
JSONArray ja = new JSONArray(result);
for (int i = 0; i < ja.length(); i++) {
try {
JSONObject obj = ja.getJSONObject(i);
Movie movie = new Movie();
movie.setTitle(obj.getString("title"));
movie.setLocation(obj.getString("location_search_text"));
movie.setId(obj.getInt("id"));
// adding movie to movies array
movieList.add(movie);
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}catch(JSONException e){
Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data "+e.toString());
}
// notifying list adapter about data changes
// so that it renders the list view with updated data
adapter.notifyDataSetChanged();
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
VolleyLog.d(TAG, "Error: " + error.getMessage());
hidePDialog();
}
});
// Adding request to request queue
AppController.getInstance().addToRequestQueue(movieReq);
}
#Override
public void onDestroy() {
super.onDestroy();
hidePDialog();
}
private void hidePDialog() {
if (pDialog != null) {
pDialog.dismiss();
pDialog = null;
}
}
#Override
public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
// Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present.
getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.main, menu);
return true;
}
}
It's the "id" that I want to get in the OnClick event.
use this code
listView.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() {
#Override
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> adapterView, View view, int position, long l) {
Movie movie= movieList.get(position);
}
});
//here position will give you the id of listview cell so you can use it like
Movie movie= movieList.get(position);
then you can use it get all the data inside your moview object

JavaFX: Custom traversing with key combinations

I have a table with one editing combobox and three editable text fields,
editable fields create like this:
public class EditingCell extends TableCell<Person, String> {
private TextField textField;
public EditingCell() {
}
#Override
public void startEdit() {
super.startEdit();
if (textField == null) {
createTextField();
}
setGraphic(textField);
setContentDisplay(ContentDisplay.GRAPHIC_ONLY);
Platform.runLater(new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
textField.requestFocus();
textField.selectAll();
}
});
}
#Override
public void cancelEdit() {
super.cancelEdit();
setText((String) getItem());
setContentDisplay(ContentDisplay.TEXT_ONLY);
}
#Override
public void updateItem(String item, boolean empty) {
super.updateItem(item, empty);
if (empty) {
setText(null);
setGraphic(null);
} else {
if (isEditing()) {
if (textField != null) {
textField.setText(getString());
}
setGraphic(textField);
setContentDisplay(ContentDisplay.GRAPHIC_ONLY);
} else {
setText(getString());
setContentDisplay(ContentDisplay.TEXT_ONLY);
}
}
}
private void createTextField() {
textField = new TextField(getString());
textField.setMinWidth(this.getWidth() - this.getGraphicTextGap() * 2);
textField.setOnKeyPressed(new EventHandler<KeyEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(KeyEvent t) {
if (t.getCode() == KeyCode.ENTER) {
commitEdit(textField.getText());
} else if (t.getCode() == KeyCode.ESCAPE) {
cancelEdit();
} else if (t.getCode() == KeyCode.TAB) {
commitEdit(textField.getText());
TableColumn nextColumn = getNextColumn(!t.isShiftDown());
if (nextColumn != null) {
getTableView().edit(getTableRow().getIndex(), nextColumn);
}
}
}
});
textField.focusedProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<Boolean>() {
#Override
public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends Boolean> observable, Boolean oldValue, Boolean newValue) {
if (!newValue && textField != null) {
commitEdit(textField.getText());
}
}
});
}
private String getString() {
return getItem() == null ? "" : getItem().toString();
}
/**
*
* #param forward true gets the column to the right, false the column to the left of the current column
* #return
*/
private TableColumn<Person, ?> getNextColumn(boolean forward) {
List<TableColumn<Person, ?>> columns = new ArrayList<>();
for (TableColumn<Person, ?> column : getTableView().getColumns()) {
columns.addAll(getLeaves(column));
}
//There is no other column that supports editing.
if (columns.size() < 2) {
return null;
}
int currentIndex = columns.indexOf(getTableColumn());
int nextIndex = currentIndex;
if (forward) {
nextIndex++;
if (nextIndex > columns.size() - 1) {
nextIndex = 0;
}
} else {
nextIndex--;
if (nextIndex < 0) {
nextIndex = columns.size() - 1;
}
}
return columns.get(nextIndex);
}
private List<TableColumn<Person, ?>> getLeaves(TableColumn<Person, ?> root) {
List<TableColumn<Person, ?>> columns = new ArrayList<>();
if (root.getColumns().isEmpty()) {
//We only want the leaves that are editable.
if (root.isEditable()) {
columns.add(root);
}
return columns;
} else {
for (TableColumn<Person, ?> column : root.getColumns()) {
columns.addAll(getLeaves(column));
}
return columns;
}
}
}
And editable combo column create like this:
public static void createEditingComboColumn(final TableColumn<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine, String> Column, final ObservableList<String>comboData, final ObservableList<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine> Pdata) {
Column.setCellFactory(new Callback<TableColumn<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine,String>,TableCell<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine,String>>(){
#Override
public TableCell<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine, String> call(TableColumn<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine, String> p) {
final TableCell<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine, String> cell = new TableCell<DUMMY_PurchaseOrderLine, String>(){
#Override
public void updateItem(String item, boolean empty) {
if(item!=null){
final ComboBox editableComboBox = new ComboBox(comboData);
editableComboBox.setEditable(true);
editableComboBox.setMaxWidth(Double.MAX_VALUE);
Platform.runLater(new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
editableComboBox.requestFocus();
}
});
setGraphic(editableComboBox);
}
}
};
cell.addEventFilter(KeyEvent.KEY_PRESSED,new EventHandler<KeyEvent>(){
#Override
public void handle(KeyEvent t) {
activeRow = cell.getIndex();
if(t.getCode() == KeyCode.TAB||t.getCode() ==KeyCode.RIGHT){
cell.getTableView().edit(cell.getTableRow().getIndex(),cell.getTableView().getColumns().get(1) );
}
}
});
return cell;
}
});
}
Problem: when I press TAB/Right arrow key from any column work properly ,but when I press SHIFT+Tab /left arrow from second column focus goes out. How I focus first column (editing combo) from second column using keyboard?
Thanks....
The condition below in key event handler
if (t.getCode() == KeyCode.TAB)
will handle "TAB" + Any modifier, which means it will handle "Ctrl+TAB", "Alt+TAB", "Shift+Alt+TAB" etc. The same is true for "Right" key. So to handle the "TAB" alone only, the preferred way is to define KeyCodeCombination.
Your posted code is partial, not executable ie. not SSCCE. As I understand your problem lays in key event handling. Because of this I wrote a completely different code but demonstrates the explanation mentioned above. See example, and try to traverse forward with key combination different from "TAB" or "RIGHT". Try with "Ctrl+TAB" or "Alt+RIGHT". It will not work for them, as expected.
public class TraverseDemo extends Application {
#Override
public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
final TextField textField1 = new TextField();
final TextField textField2 = new TextField();
final TextField textField3 = new TextField();
// Diasble all traversals since we will manage them manually, for only textField2.
textField1.setFocusTraversable(false);
textField2.setFocusTraversable(false);
textField3.setFocusTraversable(false);
// Define key combinations for traversals.
final KeyCombination kcTab = KeyCodeCombination.valueOf("TAB");
final KeyCombination kcShiftTab = KeyCodeCombination.valueOf("Shift+TAB");
final KeyCombination kcRight = KeyCodeCombination.valueOf("RIGHT");
final KeyCombination kcLeft = KeyCodeCombination.valueOf("LEFT");
// Default initial focused textfield
requestFocus(textField2);
textField2.addEventFilter(KeyEvent.KEY_PRESSED, new EventHandler<KeyEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(KeyEvent t) {
if (kcTab.match(t) || kcRight.match(t)) {
System.out.println("traverse forward");
requestFocus(textField3);
} else if (kcShiftTab.match(t) || kcLeft.match(t)) {
System.out.println("traverse backward");
requestFocus(textField1);
}
}
});
StackPane root = new StackPane();
root.getChildren().add(HBoxBuilder.create().spacing(10).children(textField1, textField2, textField3).build());
Scene scene = new Scene(root, 300, 150);
primaryStage.setScene(scene);
primaryStage.show();
}
private void requestFocus(final Node node) {
Platform.runLater(new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
node.requestFocus();
}
});
}
public static void main(String[] args) {
launch(args);
}
}

Cannot properly set visible component

I'm trying to implement Menu with select box which sets to display or not component. I have this checkbox:
final CheckMenuItem toolbarSubMenuNavigation = new CheckMenuItem("Navigation");
toolbarSubMenuNavigation.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>()
{
#Override
public void handle(ActionEvent e)
{
DataTabs.renderTab = toolbarSubMenuNavigation.isSelected();
// call here the getter setter and send boolean flag
System.out.println("subsystem1 #1 Enabled!");
}
});
And I have this tabpane which I want to render only if I have selected the checkbox:
public static boolean renderTab;
public DataTabs()
{
}
public boolean isRenderTab()
{
return renderTab;
}
public void setRenderTab(boolean renderTab)
{
this.renderTab = renderTab;
}
// below this code
tabPane.setVisible(renderTab);
When I run the code it's not working. I also tested this:
DataTabs tabs = new DataTabs(); // instantiate first
tabs.setRenderTab(toolbarSubMenuNavigation.isSelected());
public static boolean renderTab;
TabPane tabPane = new TabPane();
public DataTabs()
{
}
public boolean isRenderTab()
{
return renderTab;
}
public void setRenderTab(boolean renderTab)
{
tabPane.setVisible(renderTab);
}
But again there is no result when I run the code and I check or uncheck the checkbox.
This is the complete source code:
http://pastebin.com/tkj4Fby1
Maybe I need to add listener or something else which I'm missing?
EDIT
Test 3
I also tested this code:
final CheckMenuItem toolbarSubMenuNavigation = new CheckMenuItem("Navigation");
toolbarSubMenuNavigation.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>()
{
#Override
public void handle(ActionEvent e)
{
DataTabs.toolbarSubMenuNavigation = toolbarSubMenuNavigation;
// call here the getter setter and send boolean flag
System.out.println("subsystem1 #1 Enabled!");
}
});
// class with tabs
public static CheckMenuItem toolbarSubMenuNavigation;
public static CheckMenuItem getToolbarSubMenuNavigation()
{
return toolbarSubMenuNavigation;
}
public static void setToolbarSubMenuNavigation(CheckMenuItem toolbarSubMenuNavigation)
{
DataTabs.toolbarSubMenuNavigation = toolbarSubMenuNavigation;
}
// below
abPane.visibleProperty().bind(toolbarSubMenuNavigation.selectedProperty());
I get NPE when I run the code.
You can easely tell to your tab to be visible when you check the box in one line
yourTab.visibleProperty().bind(yourCheckBox.selectedProperty());
And just with this line your tabpane will be visible only when it's checked

How to work with LWUIT TABs click events

UPDATE:
My Requirement is to display two Rss files as Tabs on my LWUIT Form
Initially by default first Rss file titles and images should be displayed on first tab
if an end user click on second tab,we should be able to load the second rss file titles and images
I am able to load first Rss File titles,but i am not able to load the second tab if i click on it
How to capture the click event for LWUIT Tab?
Here my code which is not working:
String topNewsurl="TopNews.rss";
String topStoryurl="TopStory.rss";
public class XMLMidlet extends MIDlet{
public void startApp() {
Display.init(this);
Process p;
try {
p = new Process(this);
p.process();
} catch (IOException ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
}
}
public class Process extends Form {
Process(XMLMidlet midlet) throws IOException {
this.midlet=midlet;
topnews = new Vector();
topstory = new Vector();
tabs = new Tabs();
form1 = new Form();
form2=new Form();
form1.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
form1.setScrollable(false);
image = Image.createImage("/res/Tone.jpg");
Label icon = new Label(image);
form1.setTitleComponent(icon);
form2.setTitleComponent(icon);
form1.setTransitionInAnimator(Transition3D.createRotation(250, true));
try {
newsList = new List(topnews);
newsList.setScrollVisible(false);
newsList.setRenderer(new NewsListCellRenderer());
myNewsList = new List(topstory);
myNewsList.setScrollVisible(false);
myNewsList.setRenderer(new NewsListCellRenderer());
tabs.addTab("Topstory", newsList);
tabs.addTab("TopNews", myNewsList);
tabs.setChangeTabOnFocus(true);
form1.addComponent(BorderLayout.CENTER, tabs);
}
try{
String url = "http:topnews-20.rss";
form1.show();
ParseThread myThread = new ParseThread(this);
myThread.getXMLFeed(url);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
public void addNews(News newsItem) {
//log.debug("addnews");
//System.out.println("addNews");
topnews.addElement(newsItem);
newsList.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
List source = (List) ae.getSource();
News selectedNewsItem = (News) source.getSelectedItem();
if (selectedNewsItem != null) {
displayCompleteNewsScreen(selectedNewsItem);
}
}
});
form1.show();
}
public void keyReleased(int keyCode) {
System.out.println("str");
Component p=this.getFocused();
String str= p.getClass().getName();
if(str.toLowerCase().indexOf("radiobutton")!=-1){
process();
}
From the very vague question it seems you want to capture key presses on a LWUIT Form.
jobsForm.addGameKeyListener(Display.GAME_FIRE,
new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
//do something here
}
});
jobsForm.addPointerPressedListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
pointer_click = true;
}
});
jobsForm.addPointerReleasedListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
if (pointer_click) {
//
}
pointer_click = false;
}
});
jobsForm.addPointerDraggedListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
//System.out.println("POINTER DRAGGED");
pointer_click = false;
}
});

ContextMenu (Popup) always on

I have a problem with a Context menu in JavaFx 2:it never disappers when I left click on the graph of the JFXPanel
Does anybody knows how to solve this problem?
Thanks
Here is my code
final ContextMenu cm = new ContextMenu();
MenuItem chartItem1 = new MenuItem("Chart Settings");
cm.getItems().add(chartItem1);
getScene().setOnMouseReleased(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(MouseEvent mouseEvent) {
if(cm.isShowing()){
cm.hide();
}
if(mouseEvent.getButton() == MouseButton.SECONDARY)
{
cm.show(getScene().getRoot(), mouseEvent.getScreenX(), mouseEvent.getScreenY());
}
}
});
chartItem1.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(ActionEvent t) {
dialogs.ChartFormat cs = new dialogs.ChartFormat(null, true);
cs.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
cs.setVisible(true);
}
});
Reproduced the described behavior. Don't know the reason but you can use ContextMenu#hide():
final ContextMenu cm = new ContextMenu();
MenuItem menuItem = new MenuItem("Item 1");
menuItem.addEventHandler(EventType.ROOT, new EventHandler<Event>() {
#Override
public void handle(Event t) {
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
JPanel messagePane = new JPanel();
messagePane.add(new JLabel("label"));
JDialog jDialog = new JDialog();
jDialog.getContentPane().add(messagePane);
jDialog.pack();
jDialog.setVisible(true);
}
});
}
});
cm.getItems().add(menuItem);
scene.setOnMouseReleased(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(MouseEvent mouseEvent) {
// if(cm.isShowing())
cm.hide();
if (mouseEvent.getButton() == MouseButton.SECONDARY) {
cm.show(lineChart, mouseEvent.getScreenX(), mouseEvent.getScreenY());
}
}
});
