What I want to do is to inactivate the one of java class in the tools window of project which is left sided of screen as usual. I tried to find how to inactivate it. But I could not find it. I guess it was existed in Eclipse on Windows version.
My environment:
Android Studio 0.4.0 on OSX
Do you know someone about it? Or, Could you tell me alternative way to inactivate?
Sincerely,
You can use File> Settings > Compiler >Excludes to exclude some classes or file while compilation.
I never tried Inactive in Eclipse so not sure if this do the same which Eclipse Do.

I need consulting on setting up a project correctly. Maybe someone has a good approach for my problem ?
I have some Classes in a Package, which I would like to share between an Android Application (Android Studio) and a Maintainance Application (IntelliJ IDE).
I know that in the end it will be a .jar that both IDE's should import.
But I am unsure how to setup this correctly. Should I create a seperate module in IntelliJ for the shared part and then howto reference this in Android Studio ?
Do I need to use a local maven repo for this ?
What is a good approach for this ?
I'm working on a project in Android Studio 3.1. I first had to create a .jar file with dependancies in IntelliJ 2017.2. I chose to do my programming in the IntelliJ IDE because I knew that Android Studio is based on IntelliJ.
But now I have a bunch of scratches (lots of notes and code) for my project that I assumed would be available in Android Studio, but they are not.
Is there a way to tell Android Studio to use the scratches from IntelliJ? I will have to be jumping back and forth more and more between IDE's in the future as the project develops.
It's is possible to specify a location for scratches using Help | Edit Custom Properties... and adding the following property there:
idea.scratch.path=~/Scratches
It is necessary to restart the IDE after you make changes there. You could specify the same location in both IntelliJ IDEA and Android Studio. (You can of course choose your own path/location.) In this directory two further directories will be created by the IDE, "scratches" and "consoles". You can create these directories yourself if you already have scratches you wish to use.
After upgrading to Intellij Idea 2017.3 and to Android Studio 3.1 canary 6 I noticed the project tool window doesn't show the little lock icons next to files anymore.
This is very useful to have a bird's eye view on the visibility of each file (public, package protected...).
Is there a setting to bring them back?
Marco, please check this comment on YouTrack: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-172513#comment=27-2150075
This is a basic question.
I use Android Studio, AppCode, IntelliJ IDEA, PHPStorm and RubyMine.
Is there any way to merge all of those IDEs?
For example, IntelliJ IDEA with plugins for each type of development instead of having 5 IDEs that are basically the same.
Thanks.
Intellij IDEA Ultimate includes all the features available in PHPStorm and RubyMine (but you need installing some missing plugins from the repository). Same for Android Studio (https://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2013/05/intellij-idea-and-android-studio-faq/). So you can just use Intellij IDEA for Ruby, PHP and Android development. AppCode, however, can't be replaced with IDEA
I have got some open source projects which I want to have a try. But I want to use Eclipse if the project was made using eclipse; otherwise I would like to use Android Studio.
So how can I know by viewing the source code about the IDE used for the development of a particular project? Is there any metadata in any file which stores the IDE information?
I believe that Android Studio sometimes includes gradle related files. That's how I would check.
