Excel formula - if one cell equals another then add - excel-formula

Example
A-------B------C------D
20------?------75-----2
22------?------23-----3
23------?------25-----5
24------?------20-----1
50------?------36-----2
36------?------22-----4
75------?------12-----1
If cell 1(75) from column C searches column A, if it finds 75 then enter column D cell 1(2) into column B cell 1.
Repeat until column C is finished.
Please forgive me, I've never done this.

This should do it:
=IF(VLOOKUP(C1,$A$1:$A$7,1,FALSE),D1)
paste that formula into b1 thru b7 and it should update references

OK, given your comment about the 2 next to 75 from column D needs to go int column B to the right of the 75, and also incorporating error checking code from Pankaj, try this one:
=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(A1,$C$1:$D$7,2,FALSE)), "", VLOOKUP(A1,$C$1:$D$7,2,FALSE))

Matching multiple value in excel using index and match

I used index and match to identify the values of the table and matched it. However I am facing trouble when I try to get b and c, a is matched correctly
A. B C D.
1 a b c
2 fruit1 a
3 fruit0
4 fruit3
5 fruit5 a
E F
1 fruit1 a
2 fruit0 c
3 fruit3 b
4 fruit5 a
My formula is
=Iferror(if(index(($f$1:$f$4), match($A2,$e$1:$e$4,0),match(b$2,$f$1:$f$4,0)) = b$2,index(($f$1:$f$4), match($A2,$e$1:$e$4,0),match(b$2,$f$1:$f$4,0)), ""),"")
If your data table is in E1:F4, and you are trying to look up the fruit names that appear in column A starting at A2, and place the correct letter next to them in column B, then there's no need for the IF and the sequences of MATCHes.
All you need is this, pasted into cell B2 and copied down, is this:
=IFERROR(INDEX($F$1:$F$4,(MATCH(A2,$E$1:$E$4,0))),"")
An easier approach to this is just:
=VLOOKUP(A2,$E$1:$F$4,2,FALSE)
or to be safer:
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A2,$E$1:$F$4,2,FALSE),"")
And if you have access to O365 Excel and the newer XLOOKUP function, you can use the following examples. XLOOKUP incorporates the "not found" result so you don't have to do a separate IFERROR. Do do it on a cell-by-cell basis as you had before, put this in B2 and copy it down:
=XLOOKUP(A2,$E$1:$E$4,$F$1:$F$4,"",0)
If you want to go one step further, you can apply the XLOOKUP as an array or "spill" formula, you change the lookup_value to be the A1:A4 and it does the rest. Place this in B2 and it will fill B2 through B5:
=XLOOKUP(A2:A5,$E$1:$E$4,$F$1:$F$4,"",0)

Formula to get crossed values

I am trying to get values from other column, based on some logic, crossed logic, but I didn't get any result with the only thing I know: IF or VLOOKUP.
The table is in this way:
So basically there are groups divided by blank row, and in column D I want to add the value from column B, but according with other letter that the one from the row ( C is from Credit, D is from Debtor). So in first D5 I have C on the same row in A5, so I need to take value from D, which is 2, according to B6.
So sorry if this question is too easy or stupid, but I don't know much about excel formulas, other that the basic one.
I'd say the fastest way with formula takes two columns. The first one (let's say column C) will use this formula to define the blocks:
=IF(A5="",C4+1,IFERROR(C4+0,0))
It's meant for cell C5.
The second column will give back the actual result:
=SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,IF(A5="C","D",IF(A5="D","C","")),C:C,C5)
It's meant for cell D5.
Place them accordingly and drag them down to cover your list.
Then again: if you are looking just for the number and not for its sum (and therefore assuming all numbers are equal for each letter in each block), just use this one in cell D5 instead of the previous one:
=SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,IF(A5="C","D",IF(A5="D","C","")),C:C,C5)/COUNTIFS(A:A,IF(A5="C","D",IF(A5="D","C","")),C:C,C5)
Now if you were to use only IF and VLOOKUP functions, a possible solution could be this one:
A
B
C
D
E
F
G

0

Get the column number of a search criteria in a defined range

I have the following Excel spreadsheet:
A B C D E F G H
1 Search Criteria: Prod.D
2 Column: 4
3 Prod.A Prod.B Prod.C Prod.D Prod.E
4
5
In Range D3:H4 I have Product A to Product E listed.
Now, I want to achieve that when I put a product name into Cell C1 I will get back the Column Number of the product in the range.
In the example above I want to search for Prod.D within the Range D3:H4 and therefore the result in Cell C2 should be 4 since the search criteria appears in the fourth column within the defined range.
What formula do I need to achieve this?
Try this formula in cell C2:
=MATCH(C1,D3:H3,0)

Sum of multiple columns if they match

I have this table of data:
A B C D E
003B1016 1 003G1016 1 003B1016
003G1015 1 003G1391 2 003G1015
003H0121 4 003H6208 2 003H0121
003H6209 1 003H6209 1 003H6209
I want to sum B+D if A and C are identical , how would i do that?
I have another 32000 rows of data. :) Thanks for the help
Put this in cell E1 and copy down:
=IF(A1=C1,B1+D1,"")
This says - if A = C, then add B+D. Otherwise, return blank "".
EDIT for new requirements
In order to add all amounts from column B where column A matches the current row and from column D where column C matches that row, where the row in column A exists anywhere and the row in column C exists anywhere, do the following formula in E2 and drag down:
=IF(ISERROR(MATCH(A2,A$1:A1)),IF(ISERROR(MATCH(A2,C:C,0)),"",SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,A2)+SUMIFS(D:D,C:C,A2)),"")
This says: look above the current row in column A - have we seen this item before? If no, continue with the formula. If yes, ignore, to avoid double counting. Then, Look at all of column C - does the value in the current row of A occur anywhere in column C? If no, then don't add anything. If yes, Add all items from column B where column A matches the current row, and add all items from column D where column C matches the current row.

EXCEL formula with multiple conditions

I am in turmoil of IF, OR and AND in Excel formula.
Basically, I have two different cells. I want to first check that each cell is have Text or Number and if its having either of it, then I want to compare both cells and display the result in Third cell.
So it would be like
IF
Cell A2 --> Check if it contains Text or Number
AND
Cell B2 --> Check if it contains Text or Number
THEN
Cell C2 --> Compare A2 and B2
Example 1: Positive
A B C
1 abc123 abc123 PASS
Example 2: Negative
A B C
1 abc123 abc113 FAIL
Example 3: Negative
A B C
1 113 113 FAIL
I hope above example will help.
So far, I've tried:
=IF((IF(OR(ISNUMBER(A2),ISTEXT(A2)),A2,""))=(IF(OR(ISNUMBER(B2),ISTEXT(B2)),B2,"")),"PASS","FAIL")
In above example, if I leave any cell empty, still it is showing Pass.
Thanks in advance...
=IF(AND(OR(ISNUMBER(A2), ISTEXT(A2)), OR(ISNUMBER(B2), ISTEXT(B2))), IF(A2 = B2, "PASS", "FAIL"), "")
I would use:
=IF(AND(ISNUMBER(A1),ISNUMBER(B1),A1=B1),"Pass",IF(AND(A1<>"",B1<>"",A1=B1),"Pass","Fail"))
