I currently try to implement a website, where an dialog, opened from an carousel, changes something in the database and the result is shown on the screen. For that, I try to update an area in the dialog. Unfortunately, updating things in an carusell does not seem to work.
I shortened the code to an minimal example, so with the following code:

the function pagebean.value is not called after I click on Increment, but therefore the constructor of pagebean is called when I click on Increment. So it seems like the carousel makes it impossible to update something in it.
Does anyone know, if there is an possibility to update something which is in a carousel, or if there is a workaround for this problem?
EDIT: After the discussion below, I know that Increment does work, if the scope of the corresponding bean is set to #ViewScoped. I could also trigger this button by giving it a widgetVar and accessing its click function, so this would work. Unfortunately, the Bean I want to use is SessionScoped, and with this kind of view it does not work. Has anybody an hint how to solve this problem? I could copy everything into a second Bean, which is ViewScoped, but this is not a very nice solution.

I'm using the 0.7 version of bootsfaces to create a simple page, which has something like the following:

Now, the idea is that on clicking the button, a property is updated and the image should be re-generated (in this case a jfreechart graph - but this is besides the point.) I tested this with primefaces commandButton and it works fine (the graph is redrawn..) However with bootsfaces commandButton, nothing happens once the ajax call completes (I can see the call on the server side, but the graph is not reloaded.) I think it's down to how it must reference the image in the repeated block, but now sure what is wrong - has anyone come across this?
(NOTE: reason I don't want to use primefaces is that it does not integrate well with bootstrap)

Actually, why did you expect the update=":some_form:some_elements:graphic" to work in the first place? This expression is an id that doesn't exist. The id is some_form:some_elements:0:graphic. In other words: it contains the row number. PrimeFaces (and Mojarra and MyFaces) recognizes that the command button is part of a UIRepeat group and guesses the correct row number. But that's just a guess. Obviously a reasonable guess, because most of the time you want to update something that's in the vicinity of the command button.
The next version of BootsFaces is going to guess the correct row number, too :).
Old SuggestionBox component for RichFaces (version 3.3... yes, I have to maintain legacy code, weep for my fate) is pretty useful, but has one downside.
If user enter some text in input component and then click somewhere else than entry on list of suggestion, partially filled input is left as is. It is ugly and can be confusing, giving impression that something is selected when it is not.
I want to have separate call to bean in this case, allowing me to remove text, if nothing got selected.

I tried to add a4j:support for h:inputText with event="onblur", but it is called before backingBean.select(sug) and has no way to know if something was selected or not, making it almost useless. Adding other events to suggestionbox itself appear to not work at all or even break suggestionbox.
Is there any other way?
The backing JavaScript object has a getSelectedItems() method. It returns an empty array if nothing was selected.

This is my JSF form. I used valueChanged listener to make button diabled in ome cases and it works good. But I don't get why it triggers also the buttons onclick. How to do something which enable me to use button ONLY after clicking it?
I noticed that when I delete the disabled option it works good:/ But why I cannot trigger the action when button is enabled in the moment?
onclick is a client side attribute so you shouldn't try to bind it to managed bean method calls and it looks as though you did onclick=#{productBean.order} (apart from the missing quotes). This may be the cause of your problems.
OK i did that. The problem is that the button may appear as enabled (disabled="false") but its client side change and server don't know about it and application thinks that the button is still disabled. Even it looks like enabled button it won't work with action="#{something}".
You have to let server know about the change. THe only thing i did is adding the #ViewScoped to the managed bean. Now the action of disabling and enabling the button is also being seen by the server and works perfectly.
However i have a question. Client side verifaction is a bad idea. Disabled button is the only thing which prevent user from sending empty itemValue or product(in my case) which is unavailable (is_available = 0 in DB). The question is: Is it enough to ensure that it will be safe?
edit: Unfortunately after clicking the button the buttons appear enabled even though the oneSelectMenu is turned to the first, empty value. After changing the list it works again as previously, and after clicking again the situation takes time again.
I am using the jsf along with primefaces. I want to call reset functionality when my form loads. But so far i am unable to achieve it.

which definately not gona work as jsf translates the page in different way. Any idea.
The alert is getting called.So again i want the form to reset itself when it gets loaded similar to form.reset()

Calling reset when the page loads makes no utter sense. Perhaps you misunderstood the meaning of reset(). The form.reset() does not clear the input fields, instead it resets the input values to their initial values. I.e. when you get a form with prefilled inputs and then change them, then the reset() would reinitialize them with initial values as it was when the page was loaded. So, the form would only be cleared out on reset() when the initial values are already empty by itself.
So, to achieve your concrete functional requirement, you need to clear out the bean properties directly instead of fiddling with form.reset() which doesn't do what you think it does. Or, better, put the bean in the request or view scope and make sure that the form is opened by a fresh new GET request.
I'm working on building a web page and notice now that I have to press the command button twice. Any command button has the same problem, so I figured I would add and action listener on one of them to see if I could see something.

Unfortunately, this does help. It hits my breakpoint only after the second press. I suspect that some field somewhere isn't passing validation but I would like some method of detecting what exactly is going wrong - why do I need the second push? Is there some option I can turn on in Glassfish, or something else where I can look at a dump of debug information? I can ignore the dump until everything is stable and then see what exactly is happening when I press the button for the first time.
Is there any such tool which I can use?
That can happen when a parent component of the given <h:form> has been rendered/updated by another command button/link with <f:ajax>. The given form will then lose its view state which it would only get back after submitting the form for the first time. Any subsequent submits will then work the usual way. This is caused by a bug in JSF JS API as descibred in JSF issue 790 which is fixed in the upcoming JSF 2.2.
You need to fix the another command button/link with <f:ajax> to explicitly include the client ID of the given <h:form> in the render.

Another way is to replace this <f:ajax> by a PrimeFaces <p:commandLink> or <p:commandButton> so that you don't need to explicitly include the client ID of all the forms. PrimeFaces's own JS API has namely already incorporated this fix.
add event="onclick" in your p:commandbutton

I ran into the same issue. The solution was simple, instead of having both an actionListener and an action, just convert the actionListener method to return a string to where you want to navigate to and use it as the method for the action (and don't have an actionListener).
In simple terms: only use an action (do not use an actionListener on a commandButton that is submitting a form).
Please check your binding with bean.
bean fields should be String or non primitive.
