Is there a keyboard shortcut for commenting out a selection of code in Pyscripter?
I'm using version 2.5.3.0 64 bit.
I've examined the interface and tried a few google searches, including a search on this site.
Press Ctrl + the quote key
Will be used to comment selected lines and uncomment selected commented lines
If you're used to using Alt+3 (comment) and Alt+4 (uncomment) like you did with PythonWin, you need to set up your own shortcuts. Tools > Options > IDE Shortcuts..., then go to the Source Code Category and edit actEditCommentOut and actEditUncomment to whatever you want to use as keyboard shortcuts. So relieved I finally figured this out, that silly "Toggle Comments" button was driving me nuts! Hope this helps someone else.
computer was not registering the ctrl + " option. But i was able to change source code and it worked great.

Since a few days (I don't know exactly when it started) the forward key in VS2019 is not working in the code editor. No matter how many times I press it, it doesn't do anything.
It also doesn't work in the seach box in the menu bar (labelled 'Search (Ctrl+Q)') nor in the search box which appears with Ctrl+F.
It does work in other places, like the solution explorer search box (Ctrl+;) and in the resource editor.
The forward slash is working in any other application that I tried (including Visual Studio Code and MS Excel). The question mark (Shift+/) is working everywhere, including in the code editor window. Even AltGr+/ is working (producing the Spanish upside down question mark).
I tried all other keys, including the AltGr combinations. They all work fine. Keyboard layout is US International.
The foward slash key doesn't work in the code editor when typing it on the laptop keyboard, and doesn't work when typing it on an external keyboard, or via an RDP session.
I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, version 20H2, build 19042.685. System is up to date.
Visual Studio Professional 2019, 16.8.3, also up to date.
What is causing the forward slash key to fail?
How can I solve this problem?
(Too long for a comment.)
The OP indicated that the problem was resolved after resetting the keyboard shortcuts, which suggests that / was set as a keyboard shortcut either by accident or perhaps by an installed extension.
However, the question remains in such cases of how to identify what a particular keyboard shortcut is assigned to, in order to turn off just that one shortcut as opposed to resetting all.
Visual Studio does not appear to provide a place to see the list of all active keyboard shortcuts. An alternative is to go to Tools / Import and Export Settings / Export Selected / All Settings and save a .vssettings file with all the current settings. That is a plain text file with extended XML sections, and the keyboard shortcuts can be found under the following node (reformatted for readability):
<Category name="Environment_KeyBindings" ... >
<Version>16.0.0.0</Version>
<KeyboardShortcuts>
<DefaultShortcuts>
<Shortcut Command="View.ViewCode" Scope="Global">F7</Shortcut>
...
</DefaultShortcuts>
<UserShortcuts>
...
</UserShortcuts>
</KeyboardShortcuts>
</Category>
One of the <Shortcut> lines would have been listing / before the reset, and the Command attribute on that line indicated the assignment, so that it could be located and turned off individually in Tools / Options / Environment / Keyboard.
#dxiv Your comment made me check the shortcuts. Tedious job, scrolling through those hundreds of options). Nothing. Then I clicked the Reset button. That solved the problem.
In my case, the CodeRush extension was the guilty party. "Selection comment" gets set to use / upon installation. WTG DevExpress ......

Update:
Also adding a screenshot of it in VS 2022 to help people find it:
Description
I'm using some intellij products (WebStorm, PHPStorm) and Android Studio and have the same issue with both of theses.
I have an azerty keyboard, with a french layout.
I can type without issue in these softs, but I can't activate shortcuts.
When I try to activate a shortcut (e.g ctrl+z), the activated shortcut is ctrl+w.
the shortcut is correctly triggered, but with the wrong keyboard layout. It seems that when I type, my french keyboard is used, but when I want to use a shortcut, the english layout seems to be used.
Is this a known bug (if so, I've not found any mentions about it), or did I miss something?
What I've tried
I'm running on Fedora 29, with Gnome 3.
I've tried to see if it wasn't reproductible with others softs (e.g firefox/ vscode), and I can't reproduce this.
I've tried to see if it wasn't based on my keyboard settings, so I ran xev to monitor the output of pressed keys. I can't reproduce this issue.
In intellij settings, I've tried to set Keymap > Prefer key position over key char with national layout both true and false, it doesn't seem to change anything.
Current situation
Here is an exemple of a shortcut definition in Android Studio.
I pressed A to Y keys on my french keyboard (which output A,Z,E,R,T,Y), and then press the same keys with ctrl (which output ctrl+Q instead of ctrl+A and so on)
https://imgur.com/a/U4aFd7F
Expected situation (tl;dr)
I expect that when I press ctrl+a, the shortcut triggered inside intellij products is ctrl+a instead of ctrl+q
It is indeed a known bug: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-165950
In the bug report another workaround is mentioned for Gnome 3:
Re-order the languages in Settings > Language and Region tab, put English(US) first of the input source list.
I solved it by running setxkbmap fr. I don't know why this is required by intellij products, but it works.
alt + enterfor importing was work normally maybe until I updated Android Studio,
my version now is2.3.3
as this screenshot, I can't press alt + enter at all, knowing that I have tested them on other programs and they are working normally
Use LEFT Alt Key + Enter. It works well in Android Studio 3.0.1.
I encountered the same problem today, this is how I solved it.
Go to File > Settings > Editor > General > Auto Import
Uncheck and Check Show Import Popup
Do Invalidate caches and Restart of Android Studio. (If this option doesn't work, restart your computer
Edit
Another solution I've found to work is to uninstall Android Studio and reinstall it.
Try "the Windows Key + Alt + Enter" if you are using windows.
It feels weird as I am pretty sure my keyboard works fine and android studio settings are alright, but I just see the pop-up suggestion for class import and nothing happens when I press Alt+Enter.
I work on Windows 10 and my Android SDK is on a different hard drive(E:) from the Android Studio installation(C:), not sure if these contribute to the problem.
After some trial and error I accidentally solved the problem by pressing "the Windows Key + Alt + Enter" to conjure the import class menu and could then press Enter again to properly import the suggested class.
In the Android studio Settings/Keymap "shortcut Ctrl+Alt+S"
search for usage of "Alt + Ent" as below image if its not assigned for any action plz go for No. 2
In the Android studio Settings/Editor/Intentions.
Check whatever you want to show Intention in are checked or not as below photo
Double check no.1 is working fine and you found usage of "Alt + Ent" shortcut
[You can find the solution on official Jet brains website]
Intellij IDEA keyboard shortcuts
Intention actions
I faced the same problem and was sure that the problem is in Android Studio. But when I reinstalled it I realized that it did not helped. So I decided to test my keyboard. I found that my left Alt is not working with Enter and right Alt somewhy is turning on Ctrl key. That is why Alt+Enter was not working in any combinations. Problem was solved by reinstalling keyboard driver. Hope it will helps somebody.
Go to File and Unchecked Power Save mode.
For Windows/Linux, you can go to File -> Settings -> Editor -> General -> Auto Import -> Java and make the following changes:
change Insert imports on paste value to All if ask or none to All
markAdd unambigious imports on the fly option as checked
On a Mac, do the same thing in Android Studio -> Preferences
If someone encounters this issue nowadays, for me it was the language change on the keyboard. I must have made some weird keyboard combination that changed the language, therefore ALT + ENTER was not really doing I was thinking it should do. Switching it back to ENG made it work correctly. Cheers.
in Android Studio 3.2.1, the Alt + Enter combination key is only used on the left side of the keyboard.
If you want to use the Alt to the right, it should be manually selected from the section
Settings> Keymap> other
Right-click on the row
show intention action
select add keyboard shortcut
Press Alt (Right) + Enter
I hope this helps
it was the problem with the latest version to...instead of pressing alt+enter. use ctr+o it will open a dialog box then select the method u want to implement and then click on ok button ..its works with all version of android studio.. { Happy coding ;) }
I thought I had the same issue and none of the above fixed the problem. I thought I was using Alt+Enter for Parameter info. Now I use Ctrl+p I get the parameter info for the widget. Not sure if this was changed from Alt+Enter to Ctrl+p but if looking in the File/Setting/Keymap it shows Ctrl+P.
I just ran into this and what worked is Alt+Insert combination
The first thing you have to check is did you put the code inside the onCreate function?
If not put it there and try again. the Alt+ Enter would work after that.
I encountered the same issue after I upgraded Ubuntu. Left Alt+Enter was working but more comfortable Right Alt+Enter did't. Resolved using this solution in AskUbuntu.
In case if you cannot open the link:
Open "Tweaks" (aka "Gnome Tweaks") go to "Keyboard & Mouse" -> "Additional Layout Options" -> "Key to choose the 3rd level" and put a check mark on "Right Alt never chooses 3rd level".
I faced the same problem. Then I found that I was typing the
public void functionName (View view) outside the class. Hence alt + enter did not work.
After I moved the function inside the class, alt + enter worked.
This is a silly mistake though.
In my case (v4.0.0) there was a plugin (CSV Plugin) blocking the shortcut alt + enter.
Generally speaking, my suggestion is to try deactivating all the plugins and see if then it works.
I just pressed alt + f4 to exit and pressed cancel just to check if alt key was working. Fortunately after that everything was working fine.
Go to 1)setting > 2)intensions > 3)checkmark (Dart) and it will work normally without any problem.
I've searched throu lots of articles but not found an answer, some has come up with workarounds but not really answered the question.
I want to locate a file in the project view over the files in Android Studio.
There is in the project view a button named scroll from source, this one does what I want. But I want it as a keyboard shortcut, like the command in Visual Studio many has as shift alt l. The resharper command is locate in solution explorer
There is also an option in the project view to mark always scroll from source.
These options are useful but do not solve my question.
One might think this would do it, but I don't want the project view over the files to scroll up and down all the time. I want a keyboard short cut because that is what feels fastest to me to work with and makes it more comfortable.
It's possible to achieve this by typing Alt + F1 followed by Enter. If you want to change that to one button press then your best bet is to record those commands as a macro.
To do this go to Edit > Macros > Start Macro Recording. Then press Alt + F1 followed by Enter. Then go to Edit > Macros > Stop Macro Recording and give your macro a name when prompted. Now that your macro is saved you can assign a key binding to it. Go into Settings > IDE Settings > Keymap > Macros and there you will find your macro which you can then bind.
It didn't seem to work for me unless it was a single keypress so I bound the macro to F10.
What is the shortcut for deleting the current line where the cursor positioned.
ex: eclipse have crtl+d
To delete line(s)
Mac: Command+Shift+D
Windows: Ctrl+Shift+D
https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/keyboard-shortcuts.html
There are no direct shortcuts as far as I know but here is a list of commands for dreamweaver.
http://cpaoffers.com/design/dw-shortcuts.php
My typical method to do this is to hit the home > shift+end > del.
Or you could try shift+up or shift+down to select the line above or below and then hit delete.
Danilo Celic's answer helped me with CS6, just use the second one. Although it's in Japanese, just install and use it.
If you want to know more: Then, find the installed files in your own
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\[your CS6 language]\Configuration\Commands
There you can open the just-installed files and check them. The comments are in Japanese. The code are in Javascript and are easy to read.
There are 5 commands in that file. To use only the "Delete line" function: In CS6, open history panel, go to design mode, do any action like press a key, right click on that action from history panel and record that action. Then you can find the record action in the Commands folder mentioned above, and then you can copy the javascript from the downloaded one into your own recorded action file.
I've seen two extensions that add the delete line functionality:
http://xtnd.us/dreamweaver/codeextras
http://yoropan.com/en/archives/544
I haven't used either one. I've been told that the first one may not work in Dreamweaver CS6, no idea about the other one. once installed, you should be able to add a keyboard shortcut (Edit -> Preferences, Dreamweaver -> Preferences on Mac) for functionality that you're looking for.
You can add a custom keyboard shortcut for deleting lines in Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver uses Brackets for its text editor, and this is what handles the Delete Line command, not the traditional Menu system for rebinding most other Dreamweaver commands.
Create a Brackets keyboard shortcut configuration file.
Windows: %APPDATA%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2019\en_US\Configuration\Brackets\keymap.json
Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2019/en_US/Configuration/Brackets/keymap.json (untested)
Create an override in this file, according to the Brackets User Key Bindings JSON Data Format. Make sure you use the - separator between key names, not +.
{
"overrides": {
"Ctrl-E": "edit.deletelines"
}
}
Rebind any conflicting keyboard shortcuts in Dreamweaver. In my Ctrl+E example above, it collides with Quick Edit.
In Dreamweaver, go to Edit → Keyboard Shortcuts.
Make a new Set if you're using the default Dreamweaver Standard Set.
Find the command you want to change. Quick Edit is in the Code Editing section.
Highlight the shortcut you want to modify.
If you want to unbind that shortcut, click the - button.
Otherwise, rebind that shortcut by typing the new shortcut in the Press Key field, and then clicking Change.
Click OK to save your changes.
If your change is not persisted, you can usually fix this by editing the following files.
%APPDATA%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2019\en_US\Configuration\Menus\Custom Sets\*.xml
%APPDATA%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2019\en_US\Configuration\Menus\menus.xml
Restart Dreamweaver for your new Brackets keyboard shortcuts to be read.
To bind other commands besides Delete Line, see the full Brackets Shortcuts command ID column.
I used these steps with Adobe Dreamweaver 2019 (19.2) on Windows.
