Class files not being created after refresh from template? - xpages

Thanks to Panu
Where is the compiled java code stored in an nsf / ntf?
I was able to see where class files get created in the nsf. I am having an issue with some java classes that I created (.java files) where the class files (.class files) are not being created after template refresh.
If I do a clean / build in the nsf then it fixes the issue.
If I first delete the java files out of the nsf then it fixes the issue for the moment.
If I create a brand new db from the template then it works for the moment.
If I get the issue fixed then I can see the class files in the nsf. As soon as I refresh from template, the class files are removed in the nsf and never created.
Any idea what is wrong?
P.S. The class files are being created in the ntf.

I started a PMR with IBM and they were able to reproduce the issue in 8.5.3 but not 9.0

How are the xsd.cs files used?

In a biztalk project, why do some XSD files have a hidden xsd.cs and some do not? What are these files used for and why is it, modifying the XSD and rebuilding does nothing to modify the .cs files?
For example: I have an XSD which is used to map messages to a SQL Send/Receive Port and execute a stored procedure. If I change the stored procedure (say change, delete, add a parameter) and thus, change the xsd to match, these changes aren't reflected when I deploy the orchestration unless I delete the xsd.cs. I CAN see the modified xsd in the Schemas tab of the BizTalk Administrative Console. I can see it is modified, yet I will still receive a message routing / mapping error unless that .cs is deleted and the orchestration redeployed. And by the way, after deleting, it never seems to regenerate though it also does not cause any issues.
Every xsd in your solution should have a .cs file. If you aren't getting them then there is something wrong with your solution. They are the compiled version of the schema that get deployed to the GAC. If the .cs file is not being changed after you recompile then you again have an issue. Check to see if you've accidentally checked the .cs files into source control and that they are now read-only (they should not be checked in).
When you modify the schema you need to both update the version of the schema in the BizTalk database and in the GAC. If you don't you will get some strange results. Using the Deploy option from Visual Studio will do this for you automatically, but if you are manually deploying you will have to ensure that it is both imported and GACed.
.cs files are generated for every BizTalk Artifact, that's how them become a .Net Type.
All of this should be handled automatically by Visual Studio. If you are having problems that only deleting .cs files will solve, then there's something wrong with your VS setup.
Note, the .cs files should not be in source control. If they are, remove them.
However, the scenario you describe doesn't make sense. What you see in BT admin is from the .cs file.

JAR file changes in Lotus Notes database not being picked up by Domino server

I have a custom Java class that I created in Eclipse and exported as a JAR file. I imported it into a Notes database under WebContent\WEB-INF\lib and added to the build path. The JAR is being used from SSJS on an XPage using "importPackage" and all works well.
However, if I make changes to the Java code in Eclipse, recreate the JAR, re-import into the Notes database then the changes to the code are not being picked up when I reload the XPage. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I clean or rebuild the project the changes are not reflected until I restart the HTTP task on the Domino server (9.0.1 FP1).
Am I missing something obvious?
Restarting HTTP server via "task restart http" is probably required. it is for changes to OSGI librarys / Ext. Librarys etc.

Migrating working sets from old to new Domino Designer installation

I am trying to migrate my working sets to a new installation. While searching the web I found this link which says that by copying the file <DATA FOLDER>\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.ui.workbench\workingsets.xml we can get our original working sets back. I tried it, but it only restores my working sets and they are empty with no database inside them.
What am I missing here? Does any one know how to get all the working sets from old installation and put it into new installation of Domino Designer?
Databases in designer are held as eclipse projects, so you would need to copy project directories inside workspace directory. You can see their directory names in designer just after database title.
Although, I wouldn't recommend that, because different designer versions may have different structure of its content.
I had the same issue. I migrated from the same Notes 8.5.3 release on the old computer to the new computer, so after reading the tips above, I decided to just replace the whole workspace folder under the C:\Lotus\Notes\Data\ folder on my new PC with the workspace folder on my old PC.
It worked! When I opened the Designer client, I had all my working sets complete with database icons. I don't know anything about the workspace folder, so I probably would be cautious applying such an approach if I were migrating to a new release, but since I had not yet started to work on the new PC, I was prepare to reinstall the software if necessary.
FYI, if you don't want to lose your custom commands in the Domino Administrator client when migrating to a new PC or when installing another release of Notes on the same PC, you simply copy the domadmin.nsf database file from the old environment and replace the one in the new environment (if it exists, it won't yet exist if you haven't launched the app after a new install). If you have upgraded to a new Notes release, then open this domadmin.nsf DB in Designer in the new environment and refresh its design from the StdAdminDatabase template (domadmin.ntf).

The Notes client being totally closed, backup or restore the following directories :
..data/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/..
com.ibm.designer.domino.ide.resources
org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects
org.eclipse.core.resources/.root
org.eclipse.core.resources/.safetable
org.eclipse.ui.workbench

Where is MVC3's App_Code folder

This post contains a nicely succinct explanation for implementing razor helpers. But it refers to the use of the 'App_Code' folder - something i can't get my MVC3-transitioned-from-MVC2 project to create. I understand this has to do with WebSite vs. Web App but to be honest - i can't remember if the original creation was site or app. Since there's menu selection 'Convert to Web Application' seems it was created as a Web Site. But then there should be a App_Code dir, yes?
Attempting to recreate the steps from the original post (within a manually created 'App_Code' folder) presents pre-compile errors (MyHelpers does not exist in this context) - but the strategy _does work. - at least the simple hello stuff did. so i shouldn't argue with success? MVC3/Razor isn't fully intellisensed yet?
thx
I created an app_code directory by just creating a folder called app_code. MVC3 dealt with this file correctly by creating static methods for the code I put in there. When I reopened my solution later, the app_code file had disappeared. I eventually found that the app_code file was marked as a hidden folder by visual studio.
In this virtual machine I have the RTM VS 2010. not sure if this was fixed in SP1.

SimpleRepository classes and namespace missing

I am using SubSonic Active Record in a C# web application. I followed all the setup instructions and went well. i queried the database for some simple results and presto I got data. I then changed the namespace in the settings file right clicked on the ActiveRecord file and everything broke. Since then any classes and namespace generated in the ActiveRecord.cs file is not included in the project. Its like the file and the code inside ActiveRecord.cs do not exist or visual studio cannot process or recognize the files. I inspected the file and all seems well.
I am using TFS2008 if that may be the cause. I did notice earlier I also had an issue with System.Data if I pressed System. no Data namespace? This subsequently fixed itself somehow? and now I'm left trying to access the SubSonic generated classes and namespace.
Any ideas?
tks Hans
You have to make sure your project file is checked out - probably solution file too. TFS locks these things and you can't add files in unless the mechanism (your proj file) is unlocked.
