Creating a jsf application with maven without IDE - jsf

What I want to do is to setup a JSF application without using any IDE to fully understand what is going on.
This is what I have done so far:
I created a directory (D:\Project\MyMavenProject) and added a pom.xml:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/maven-v4_0_0.xsd">
<modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
<groupId>com.maxheapsize</groupId>
<artifactId>jsf2demo</artifactId>
<packaging>war</packaging>
<version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
<name>jsf2demo Maven Webapp</name>
<url>http://maven.apache.org</url>
<dependencies>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId>
<artifactId>jsf-api</artifactId>
<version>2.0.0-b13</version>
<scope>compile</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId>
<artifactId>jsf-impl</artifactId>
<version>2.0.0-b13</version>
<scope>compile</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>jstl</artifactId>
<version>1.2</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>2.5</version>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
<build>
<finalName>jsf2demo</finalName>
</build>
<repositories>
<repository>
<id>maven2-repository.dev.java.net</id>
<name>Java.net Repository for Maven</name>
<url>http://download.java.net/maven/2</url>
</repository>
</repositories>
</project>
and when I say from commandline:
mvn verify
I get build error. What am I doing wrong?
Here is the link to the image: http://s11.postimage.org/jwr1laf5d/image.png

http://download.java.net/maven/2/javax/servlet/
You repository does not have dependencies for servlet-api or jstl
You can use http://repo1.maven.org/maven2 respository which contains both jstl and servlet-api versions you are looking for,
<repositories>
<repository>
<id>maven2-repository.dev.java.net</id>
<name>Java.net Repository for Maven</name>
<url>http://download.java.net/maven/2</url>
</repository>
<repository>
<id>maven2-central</id>
<name>Maven Central</name>
<url>http://repo1.maven.org/maven2</url>
</repository>
</repositories>
Also as I see from other post that you don't have your project directories created ,
You can use maven archetypes to create a project without IDE
mvn archetype:generate -DgroupId=com.maxheapsize
-DartifactId=jsf2demo
-Dversion=1.0-SNAPSHOT
-DarchetypeArtifactId=maven-archetype-webapp
-DinteractiveMode=false
List of available archetypes can be found here
http://maven.apache.org/guides/introduction/introduction-to-archetypes.html

It sounds like you are specifying only one repository which does not contains all the required depe ndency for your jsf dependency. I think you should try pointing ALSO to the maven central repository.
It seems that the java repo you are referring does not contain servlet-api for example which is required by your jsf pom.

Unable to resolve class com.atlassian.jira.component.ComponentAccessor

I am trying to run a Groovy script on IntelliJ IDEA, the Groovy script I am trying to run is called UsersCount.groovy, it looks like this
import com.atlassian.jira.component.ComponentAccessor
import com.atlassian.jira.user.util.UserManager
def userManager = ComponentAccessor.getUserManager() as UserManager
def message = "My instance contains ${userManager.totalUserCount} user(s)."
log.warn(message)
When I run this code, I get the following error message
"C:\Program Files\Zulu\zulu-8\bin\java.exe" "-Dtools.jar=C:\Program Files\Zulu\zulu-8\lib\tools.jar" -Dgroovy.home=C:\Users\mouh\.m2\repository\org\codehaus\groovy\groovy-all\2.4.6 "-javaagent:C:\Program Files\JetBrains\IntelliJ IDEA 2021.1.3\lib\idea_rt.jar=59917:C:\Program Files\JetBrains\IntelliJ IDEA 2021.1.3\bin" -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -classpath C:\Users\mouh\.m2\repository\org\codehaus\groovy\groovy-all\2.4.6\groovy-all-2.4.6.jar org.codehaus.groovy.tools.GroovyStarter --main groovy.ui.GroovyMain --classpath .;C:\Users\mouh\IdeaProjects\scriptrunner-samples\jira\target\classes --encoding=UTF-8 C:\Users\mouh\IdeaProjects\scriptrunner-samples\jira\src\main\resources\UsersCount.groovy

You should specify the path to the Atlassian SDK maven:
Go to Settings (Alt+Ctrl+S) -> Build, Execution, Deployment -> Build -> Maven
In the "Maven home path" set the path to the location where your installed Atlassian SDK is and its direct child maven sub-folder.
In the User settings file checkbox the Override option and menu below specify the path to the "settings.xml" file inside the maven sub-folder of the path above
Click Save to save the changes of the IDEA settings
As your local Maven is not configured to see Atlassian repos.

Why only does Maven Azure DevOps Artifacts only store dependencies from Maven Central? (MuleSoft)

The artifacts are stored in Azure Artifacts, but as shown only from Maven Central and we need the other there too:
Is there a way to get the MuleSoft dependencies stored too?
In azure devops Artifacts, there are only four public upstream sources: npmjs.com, NuGet.org, Maven Central and PyPI, that's why the dependencies from MuleSoft are not stored.
And as of this time, however, custom upstream sources are only available for npm.
You can click this docuement for detailed information.
As said in Azure Devops Artifacts there are only four public upstream sources.
But you can add a cache for the others.

Betamax with Spring Boot throws Illegal use of nonvirtual function call

I'm trying to setup a simple test in Groovy with Spock using Betamax:
class BetaMaxSpockTest extends Specification {
#Rule
public Recorder recorder = new Recorder()
#Betamax(tape = "some_tape")
def 'You shall pass'() {
expect:
true
}
}
I'm also using Spring Boot so I have spring-boot-starter-parent as my parent in pom.xml:
<parent>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-parent</artifactId>
<version>1.2.6.RELEASE</version>
</parent>
When I run above test I'm getting this error:
java.lang.VerifyError: (class: co/freeside/betamax/proxy/jetty/BetamaxProxy, method: super$3$getBean signature: (Ljava/lang/Class;)Ljava/lang/Object;) Illegal use of nonvirtual function call

Without Spring Boot on path it works fine. Looks like some versions problem. Anyone had similar issue?

There are a couple things you can do to fix this. The first is that you can make the code in question #CompileStatic (probably the Spec in your case) which often resolves the issue, but this is not always desireable (and does not always work).
The other thing you can do is add -Xverify:none to your java command line options (wherever you would specify them for your environment). This will turn off the verification, which is what is causing the error.
From what I have read about this issue when I originally ran into it, they are planning on turning off verification by default in the next Java version. This generally occurs with Groovy or other libraries that do a lot of bytecode manipulation under the covers (asm is another).
I have found the solution. The problem was in wrong versions of jetty and httpclient. BetaMax requires versions shown below, while Spring's parent pom declares much newer versions.
Adding this two lines to properties in my pom.xml solved the issue:
<jetty.version>7.3.1.v20110307</jetty.version>
<httpclient.version>4.2.1</httpclient.version>
Anyway, thanks for your help!

JSF 2.0 and Richfaces configuration

I'm new in Richfaces framework. In this time I'm trying to add this to my engineering project. Unfortunately have a lot of problem with making this framework running with JSF 2.0 . I've tried to download a lot of maven archetypes but most of them aren't working. Could you point me the place where I can find something like JSF 2.0 + Richfaces 4 blank and configured project? It can be maven as well. I've spend all day today to make it running but things are so complex for me in this time.
You do not need much. You probably need the reposity for the dependencies, the plugin to build the war file, a JSF version (I assume that your container supplies a JSF api+implementation, thus provided), and RichFaces API + implementation.

java doc says
NoClassDefFoundError Thrown if the Java Virtual Machine or a
ClassLoader instance tries to load in the definition of a class (as
part of a normal method call or as part of creating a new instance
using the new expression) and no definition of the class could be
found.
The searched-for class definition existed when the currently executing
class was compiled, but the definition can no longer be found.
org.apache.commons.fileupload.FileItem is a class in FileUpload component of Apache Commons which is missing in your class path. Add following maven dependency for FileUpload component in your pom.xml.
<dependency>
<groupId>commons-fileupload</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-fileupload</artifactId>
<version>x.x</version>
</dependency>
