My goal is to redirect from
/kontaktaufnehmen/kontakt.html to /auftragsverwaltung/kontakt/?type=1
and the parameters must be added to the new path.
I tried
Redirect permanent /kontaktaufnehmen/kontakt.html /auftragsverwaltung/kontakt/?type=1
but the parameters are not added to the redirected path.
Without ?type=1 the parameter will be added.
Try:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !type=1
RewriteRule ^/?kontaktaufnehmen/kontakt.html /auftragsverwaltung/kontakt/?type=1 [L,R=301,QSA]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} type=1
RewriteRule ^/?kontaktaufnehmen/kontakt.html /auftragsverwaltung/kontakt/ [L,R=301]
The important thing here is the QSA flag, which means whatever query string that's already there gets appended. The mod_alias directive Redirect won't do this for you. The second rule is simply a redirect because it sees that the type=1 query string is already there so it won't add another.

I am creating subdomain for all users in my website. I used wildcard subdomain and handling it with htaccess file with following code. This is working fine. It rewrites user1.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/subdir/index.php?user=user1
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mydomain\.com
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ([^.]+)\.mydomain\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^$ subdir/index.php?user=%1 [L]
Now, I need to add one more parameter to the url. Please suggest.
How to rewrite
user1.mydomain.com?data=value1 to mydomain.com/subdir/index.php?user=user1&data=value1
Specifying your own query string in the substitution URL, will by default discard any query string that existed on the original URL.
The QSA flag allows you to specify that you want your new query string, and the one from the originally requested URL, to be merged.
This is so elementary that you have to ask why it is so complex to implement.
Simply need to redirect one url to another on the same domain, the url contains query string aparams though:
I tried:
RewriteRule ^article.php?section=exclusive&id=543 articles/view/4639 [R=301,L]
I get page cannot be found - the redirect is not happening. I have other re-directs in the same htaccess which work. The query string params are causing problems, and escaping them also does not help.
Note the id's of the two urls are not the same and therefore I don't want a clever re-write rule which converts from one url to another with the query strings mapped to new params. I just want a fast and dirty mapping from A to B.
UPDATE
I tried this it redirects but it is adding my old query string to the end of the new url. How can I prevent that?
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/article\.php$
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^section=exclusive
RewriteRule ^$ http://www.onlinegooner.com/articles/view/3000 [R=301,L]
Input url is: mydomain.com/article.php?section=exclusive
You may use this rule:
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^section=exclusive [NC]
RewriteRule ^article\.php$ /articles/view/3000? [R=301,L,NC]
? in the target will strip off previous query string.
I have searched but cannot find a specific answer for this exact redirect style...
I have this structure of URL with this specific parameter:
https://websitename.com/directory/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=cart
I want it redirected to:
https://websitename.com/shopping-cart/
Note that the above mentioned "directory" changes, but the index.php with the parameters stay the same. No matter what the directory is, I always want it to go to the same exact redirect.
I cannot seem to get the right redirect working in htaccess. Can anyone help?
You can use this redirect rule as your first rule in site root .htaccess:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /(?:index\.php)?\?option=com_virtuemart&view=cart [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /shopping-cart/? [L,R=308]
# remaining rules go below this
You can use a set like this. It takes care on the param view=cart
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (^|&)view=cart
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /shopping-cart/? [L,NC,R=301]
If you want to keep the querystring params, then change
/shopping-cart/?
to
/shopping-cart/
without questionmark
I have problem when I try to redirect and rewrite together.
I have site example.com/show_table.php?table=12 (max 99 tables). I wanted nice links, so I got this .htacces rw rule:
RewriteRule ^table/([0-9]{1,2})$ show_table.php?table=$1 [L,NC]
Now are links something like example.com/table/12 - it's definitely OK. But I want all old links redirect to new format. So I use Redirect 301, I added to .htaccess this code:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} show_table.php
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^table=([0-9]{1,2})$
RewriteRule ^show_table\.php$ http://example.com/table/%1? [L,R=301,NC]
But when I visit example.com/show_table.php?table=12, I receive just redir-loop. I don't understant - the first is rewrite, the second is redirection, there ain't no two redirections. Do You see any error?
Thanks!
Instead of checking REQUEST_URI in the condition, you need to be checking in THE_REQUEST (which contains the full original HTTP request, like GET /show_table.php HTTP/1.1). When Apache performs the rewrite, it changes REQUEST_URI, so to the rewritten value, and that sends you into a loop.
# Match show_table.php in the input request
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /show_table\.php
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^table=([0-9]{1,2})$
# Do a full redirection to the new URL
RewriteRule ^show_table\.php$ http://example.com/table/%1? [L,R=301,NC]
# Then apply the internal rewrite as you already have working
RewriteRule ^table/([0-9]{1,2})$ show_table.php?table=$1 [L,NC]
You could get more specific in the %{THE_REQUEST} condition, but it should be sufficient and not harmful to use show_table\.php as the expression.
You'll want to read over the notes on THE_REQUEST over at Apache's RewriteCond documentation.
Note: Technically, you can capture the query string in the same RewriteCond and reduce it to just one condition. This is a little shorter:
# THE_REQUEST will include the query string so you can get it here.
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /show_table\.php\?table=([0-9]{1,2})
RewriteRule ^show_table\.php$ http://example.com/table/%1? [L,R=301,NC]
I'm new with 301 redirects through .htacces.
I can get simple redirects as
redirect 301 /test.html http://www.domain.com/test2.html
to work but I have some urls like this
redirect 301 /test.asp?Group=100 http://www.domain.com/test3.html
and for some reason these don't work.
Thanks.
Here is set of rules for URLs you have provided:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} =group=113 [NC]
RewriteRule ^group\.asp$ http://domain.dk/til-born.htm? [NC,R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} =product=1136 [NC]
RewriteRule ^product\.asp$ http://www.domain.dk/til-born/bukser.html? [NC,R=301,L]
As you can see query string is matched separately to the page name. So .. for each of such redirects you need 2 lines: RewriteCond & RewriteRule.
The rule above will do EXACT match, which means /group.asp?group=113¶m=value will not be redirected because query string is group=113¶m=value which is more than just group=113.
To have such redirect working (when there are some optional parameters in query string) you have to modify it: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (^|&)group=113(&|$) [NC] -- this will match group=133 anywhere in query string (group=113 and group=11366 are still different, so no problems here).
This needs to be placed in .htaccess in website root folder. If placed elsewhere some tweaking may be required.
The Redirect directive (as far as I know) matches only on the path, not querystring. Instead, use RewriteRule. The QSA instructs the rewrite engine to append the querystring onto the new redirected URL.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^test\.asp http://www.domain.com/test3.html [L,R=301,QSA]
