I have a rewriterule on my site thats like this:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ open.php?url=$1 [L]
(There is a lot above it but this is the last rule)
It works very nicely.
What I want to achieve, however, is that if the url is as follows:
http://site.com/first/second
Then I want to redirect to
open.php?url=$1&open=$2
The problem is that I want to have both of them at the same time so that site.com/foo works as well as site.com/foo/bar . I also want to avoid having a trailing slash there all the time ergo both of the rules at the same time.
If there a way to check for trailing slashes with a rewritecond of some sort
any help is appreciated :)
SOLVED
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(.*)/(.*)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ open.php?url=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /(.*)/(.*)
RewriteRule ^(.*)/(.*)$ open.php?url=$1&open=$2 [L]
All I had to add was a RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(.*)/(.*)$ on the first rule!

Here's my current code:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ /$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)$ /go/redirect.php?slug=$1 [L]
This file is located at http://example.com/go/.htaccess
It is working correctly when people visit this link:
http://example.com/go/test
But not when it has a trailing slash like this:
http://example.com/go/test/
When the trailing slash exists, they are being redirected here for some reason:
http://example.com/test
How can I make this work with and without trailing slashes at the end of the URL?
Try with below,
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ /$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ /go/redirect.php?slug=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9-/_]+)/?$ index.php?id=$1 [L,QSA]
the above i have in my htacces file which rewrites directory/page to index.php?id=directory/page
thats working fine.
I also want to be able to add the following to it:
domain.com/sections/page rewrites to index.php?section=1&id=page
domain.com/sections/page2 rewrites to index.php?section=1&id=page2
domain.com/page rewrites to index.php?id=page
the ID is going to be different for each page
You have to take a look at RewriteCond and RewriteRule directives.
That's a sample .htaccess based on your edit.
RewriteEngine On
# This will process the /sections/(.*) requests, ?section=1 will be appended to query string
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^sections\/(.*)?$ index.php?section=1&id=$1 [L,QSA]
# This will process the other requests, as it does now.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9-/_]+)/?$ index.php?id=$1 [L,QSA]
I'm trying to convert subdirectories to a search query. So basically:
example.com/pizza
would be converted to:
example.com/?s=pizza
I have a basic knowledge of htaccess and I have done similar things before, however this time I cannot make it work. This is the problem:
This works:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /results/?s=$1 [L,QSA]
However when I point the rewrite target to the root the user is redirected to "example.com" without the query string.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /?s=$1 [L,QSA]
How can I rewrite "example.com/pizza" to "example.com/?s=pizza" ?
You may try this:
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(?:.*)?/([^/]+)/? [NC]
RewriteRule .* /?s=%1 [L]
Maps silently:
http://example.com/any/number/of/folders/parameter with or without trailing slash.
To:
http://example.com/?s=parameter
All strings are assumed to be variable.
For permanent and visible redirection, replace [L] with [R=301,L].
I'm trying to redirect all requests to ./index.php?site=$1 while I only want to use the part behind the last slash.
So I want www.mydomain.com/firstpage to become www.mydomain.com/index.php?site=firstpage and www.mydomain.com/subfolder/anotherpage to become www.mydomain.com/subfolder/index.php?site=anotherpage
But right now www.mydomain.com/subfolder/anotherpage becomes
www.mydomain.com/index.php?site=subfolder/anotherpage
This is what I've got:
RewriteEngine on
Options +SymlinksIfOwnerMatch
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mydomain.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?site=$1 [L]
What could I do to redirect only the part after the last slash?
Thank you so much!
SOLUTION:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule (.*/)?([^/]+)$ $1index.php?site=$2 [L]
Found this other, on my opinion more elegant solution. By this, the number of subfolders is irrelevant.
SOLUTION:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule (.*/)?([^/]+)$ $1index.php?site=$2 [L]
Finally figured out the answer myself.
At first I tried putting more RewriteRules under the same RewriteCond-lines gave me server errors. So I duplicated the RewriteCond-lines for the subdirectories:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/(.*)$ $1/index.php?site=$2 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?site=$1 [L]
I have a simple piece of ModRewrite that channels everything to index.php if it's not an existing file or directory.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
Now I want to add a exception when the domain contains certain strings, but I don't know how to to add this. I was thinking of adding the following.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(aanmelding|keyclamps|probouw)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /project.php/$1 [L]
UPDATE, I found a partial solution
If I put it like this:
RewriteEngine on
# if a directory or a file exists, use it directly
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
# If not an old project
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^(aanmelding|keyclamps|probouw)
# forward it to index.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
# Else
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
# forward it to project.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /project.php/$1 [L]
It works, but with a bug. Because index.php exists, the second part of the conditional still goes to index.php instead of project.php when a plain domain is called like http://probouw.localhost/
Any ideas?
For anyone that might need this, the solution was:
RewriteEngine on
# if a directory or a file exists, use it directly
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
# If not an old project
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^(aanmelding|keyclamps|probouw)
# forward it to index.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
# Else
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} =/
# forward it to project.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /project.php/$1 [L]
Perhaps using OR would help (NC=NotCase sensitive by the way)?
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*aanmelding.*$ [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*keyclamps.*$ [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*probouw.*$ [NC]
In reference to your partial solution, if you change the last part does this work?
# forward it to project.php
RewriteRule ^/?$ /project.php [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*?)$ /project.php/$1 [L]
