Installshield Include redistributable with program setup exe

Just got InstallShield Pro and I've created my setup singleimage executable.
I need to include the Visual C++ 2005 SP1 redistributable within the setup.
I've ticked the redistributable I want in the menu under 'Application Data'.
I've right clicked it and changed the 'Build Location' to 'extract from setup.exe'.
However, when I build my setup, it has a folder called 'ISSetupPrerequisites' which has the VC++ redistributable in it.
Is there anyway I can incorporate this in to a single exe with my installer?
If I remove that folder it downloads the redistributable from the internet.
Thanks
Yes. You can include the contents of the ISSetupPrerequisites folder inside the exe by changing their location in the setup.exe tab of the Releases view. You can change this on a .prq by .prq basis by right clicking a prerequisite in the Redistributables view and selecting a location there.
The 'Prerequisite' section of an InstallShield project includes modules which are external to the installation itself.
What you need to do is use the 'Merge Modules' feature (under Application Data => Objects) and select the relevant ones to include by your installer.
Another option is to manually add the redistributable exe in your Support dir, and call it during installation using InstallScript, like this:
LaunchAppAndWait("cmd","/c start /wait \"" + SUPPORTDIR ^ "vcredist.exe" +
"\" /q /norestart",LAAW_OPTION_WAIT | LAAW_OPTION_SHOW_HOURGLASS);
Note that if you're going to use this method in an InstallScript MSI project, you must call it during OnFirstUIBefore() or OnFirstUIAfter(), otherwise you will get an error regarding nested MSI installations.
I added a post build custom action aver the setup dialog success. Added vcredist_x86.exe to the install. And put /install as the command line - which is the only command line option that worked for me.
If I did it any other way the redist error-ed because two installs were going on.
In the View List under Media, click Releases.
Select the specific release.
Go to the Setup.exe tab.
For the InstallShield Prerequisites Location setting, select Extract From Setup.exe.

VS2012 and InstallShield 2014 Premier Issue

I've been using VS2012 with InstallShield2014LE on our existing projects. We finally purchased the installed 2014 premier and when I open/load an existing solution that has a 2014LE setup project alongside the main project, I get the following error, when I add a 2014 Basic MSI project:
The system cannot open the device or file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007006e)
I can create the project using the standalone InstallShield app.
Even I can create new solutions in Visual Studio 2012 and then add the basic msi to the it. That works just perfectly, but when I try to load the .ISM file in VS2012 or add a basic msi, I get the above error.
Any ideas?
Yuo have to manually re-enable integration between InstallShield and Visual Studio.
The problem, perhaps, derived from previous installation of InstallShield LE.
New instalation of purchased InstallShield has not registered correctly the required dll... so... you have to do it manually:
Open DOS prompt in ADMINISTRATIVE MODE (Very Important)
Goto [InstallShield 2014 Installation Folder]/System
Type "regsvr32 IsDevEdt.dll" to register DLL
Type "regsvr32 IsDevPkg.dll" to register DLL
Type "regsvr32 IsDevWiz.dll" to register DLL
Locate devenv.exe corresponding to the version of Visual Studio.NET
2012 (perhaps C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio
11\Common7\IDE)
Type "devenv.exe /setup" to run the integration setup
Now... everything should work.

Deployment of Visual Studio Add-in in VS 2012

I have created Visual studio add-in successfully. But I am confused to deploy this addin in another computers.I have go throgh the stackoverflow answers. But I did not get clear cut idea about this matter
You just need to copy YourAddIn.dll and YourAddIn.AddIn files to "c:\Users\username\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Addins\" folder on another computer. To create an installer you can start with Wix Template For VS2012 Addin Project.
Deploying an add-in requires to copy the add-in dll(s) to some folder and create a XML .AddIn file in a predefined folder where VS can locate it where a entry of the XML file points to the add-in assembly.
For articles about the prefedined folders for .AddIn files and about creating a setup see the "Articles about installing and uninstalling" section of my web site:
http://www.visualstudioextensibility.com/articles/add-ins/
To troubleshoot problems loading add-ins see my article:
HOWTO: Troubleshooting Visual Studio and Office add-ins
Visual Studio is a 32-bit executable, so the add-in dll and dependencies must be 32-bit.

Create a setup file in Visual Studio 2012

I have a windows form project and I want to create an installation package for this project. How can I create a setup file in Visual Studio 2012 ? My project is without data base.
How to create a Setup package using Visual Studio 2012.NET?
Microsoft released the Visual Studio Installer Project extension in April of this year, the catch is it's for VS2013, not VS2012.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudio/archive/2014/04/17/visual-studio-installer-projects-extension.aspx
The 'lite' InstallShield option remains in VS if you need something with more flexibility.
Advanced Installer also has a free version that includes an extension for VS. This is a commercial tool but the extension is included in the free edition as I said, for more advanced features you need to purchase a Professional or higher licenses and edit the project direct from Advanced Installer GUI, not from VS. (but you can still use the project in the VS solution, so you get the MSI built at the end of your build process)
Visual Studio setup projects (vdproj) are not supplied with VS 2012
There are several solutions for you:
You could use InstallShield instead.
If you don't want or
can't use InstallShield for any reason, you could try WiX. This
toolset builds Windows installation packages from XML source code.
If you only use Windows Presentation Foundation (.xbap), Windows Forms (.exe), console application (.exe), or Office solution (.dll) you could look at ClickOnce. To use this you should right click on the project file in the solution explorer and select "Publish" from the pop-up menu.
Alternatively you can use previous version of Visual Studio (2010).

Error opening SQL File from TFS 2012

When I try to view a .sql file from Source Control Explorer in Visual Studio 2012 (TFS 2012) I get the following error message:
TF10187: Could not open document
FilePath\FileName
User canceled out of save dialog
It's only happening for SQL files. The file does exist in the TFSTemp folder and I can double click and open it from there. What do I need to change to fix this error message?
Install SQL Server Data Tools - September 2013 update things will be fine. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/jj650015
For us, this seems to be linked to a .NET Framework 4.6 upgrade and is not limited to SQL files. Users have issues opening files from Source Control Explorer and Solution Explorer.
Delete the contents from the following folders:
C:\Users\<>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation
C:\Users\<>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio
C:\Users\<>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VSCommon
The first step fixed it in my case, but you can try this if it doesn't: Navigate to the Visual Studio IDE folder in command prompt or windows explorer and Run the following command "devenv /resetuserdata". Ie: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE. To minimize the potential loss of the user’s personal environment, you should consider creating a backup using the Export Settings wizard, and the Import Settings wizard to restore the settings if and when needed.
Note: The side effects of running the /resetuserdata option is that any customizations will have to be reconfigured (ie: TFS server and proxy settings) as well as many, if not all, Visual Studio extensions have to be re-installed.

Looks like you need to uninstall Redgate and then re-install the data tools. This is probably because an add-in was trying to grab the .SQL files and do something with them that VS wasn't expecting.
