I'm having trouble while trying to access a file in the browser, it says "404 - file not found" but I know for a fact that the file does exist. I can only access it once and then when I refresh it's gone into 404 mode again.
When I delete the file, a different kind of 404 message appears then when the file exists. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Server OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
IIS Version: 7.5
Filename: loop.mp4
I did set the mime-type on the server for the .mp4 extension to video/mp4.
Today someone hinted me to do some request tracing and look at the full status code, which was 404.3. That meant that I didn't have the correct mime map set on the server. I added the mime-type on server level instead of on site level and now it works like a charm. Thank you for trying to help me anyway :)

I have configured a webserver on localhost with https using Microsoft IIS Administration. I am able to browse directory with files with browsers and Visual Studio using localhost prefixed with https, such as https://localhost/trial etc.
I wish to upload a file to the said directory, ie., trial, using Libcurl to test some features. Unfortunately I'm unable to do so.
Using the same Libcurl example as given on
Libcurl File Upload
-modified for https, the console window tells me that the following has occurred, upon running the code :
IIS 10.0 Detailed Error - 405.0 - Method Not Allowed
HTTP Error 405.0 - Method Not Allowed The page you are
looking for cannot be displayed because an invalid method (HTTP verb)
is being used.
I checked the IIS Administrator and saw that all authorizations are allowed. I suppose the fact that it is flagging a HTTP verb issue rather than HTTPS as I'd enabled and used as URL in code isn't a big thing?
Libcurl uses PUT for uploading files, so should be an allowed verb.
I am quite new to this, so I'm not certain I did something incorrect with the setting up of the webserver, or whether there are security issues or permission issues which are causing a problem here.
As far as I know, there is impossible to use http put or post a file to a IIS web application's folder without writing server-side code. Otherwise, configure an FTP site on your IIS installation. Then you could use ftp command to upload the file.
If you really need using HTTP put or post to upload the file, you could consider using WebDav.

Try hostname instead of localhost
Add a trailing slash (/) for the directory.
From administrator panel I can't find my plugin css or js file. In console log it's showing :
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403
(Forbidden)
Now when I access this file from console login the browser showing me following message :
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /plugins/system/helix3/assets/css/bootstrap.css on this server.
Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Can you guys tell me how can I solve this problem. For this error my plugin is not correctly displaying :(

There is little information you give about your problem, but I will try to help you the same. I had a similar problem and with some research I was able to figure out what my problem was.
First check if file exist /plugins/system/helix3/assets/css/bootstrap.css
Second check the access permissions of your /plugins/system/helix3/assets/css/bootstrap.css in joomla and in the folder permission.
Third check if the css you are using does not need anything else to work. Example in mine was a problem with a plugin for firefox.

I am trying to access a coldfusion file on Server.
The file with xyz.htm extension works fine where as when I convert the same html into coldfusion file, like xyz.cfm , it throws following error:
404 - File or directory not found.

May I know what could be the reason?

Could be that you've not correctly run the wsconfig.exe tool which will tie in CF to IIS etc.
Need to know which version of CF, which webserver/OS & versions to help further.
Basically, the webserver needs to know how to parse .cfm requests; without running the webserver connector tool, it won't know which files to use to actually deal with the .cfm files.
I have been working with IIS 7 for a while and it has worked fine until it just suddenly started throwing 404 errors for my multiple websites even though they actually exist. All of the configurations seems fine (path, default document) but not a single file, no matter the format or location will be loaded.
Another strange thing is that everything works when I try to access the websites via localhost or 127.0.0.1 but not through my external IP.
Does anyone know why this could happen and how I can fix it?

It appears this 404 page is not the built in IIS error page. It is associated with nginx but I'm not sure where the file is located on my server or why my pages are being intercepted.
It turns at the server was hijacked by Morfeus F***ing Scanner, which I was not aware was even a thing until this happened. It's activity showed up in the server access logs. I basically had to reset the entire server. It was quite a chore.
I've installed a Joomla 1.6 template, and everything is working fine except 1 thing.
I have uploaded some .pdf-files somewhere in the file system and people who visit the site can view or download these pdf-files, but when I click on the link or trying to right-click and "Save as target" I get an error message like this:

I've logged in as administrator and checked if I found anything that denies access to files with .pdf extension, but all I found was that it seems like a .htaccess-file is being created in the same folder as the .pdf-files just after I'm trying to open them in my browser.
The content of the .htaccess file that is being created is this:
deny from all
I have also tried to edit this files content to "allow from all", and tried to delete it too, but Joomla is just changing it back.
Anyone know why or what that prevents me from viewing or downloading the pdf-files?
If it's a UNIX/Linux server you can FTP in with a client that shows permissions like FileZilla. It's probably the permissions associated with the parent folder cascading down to these files. Try to see if you can upload an image to the images folder and if you can save it the same way you're trying to save the PDFs. If downloading the image to your machine works, I would then look at the permissions settings. Usually a client can download/view files with permissions of 644 or higher.
