I have made an app in j2me which uses unicode characters to display my language. i.e. Urdu. Everything works fine expect the issue that it adds some extra spaces at the start of the string, my language is Right to left, it works fine over Nokia mobiles as I think they adjust such issue by OS, but in samsung mobile with a bit less resolution and features it raises that issue. I have tried to remove spaces though but vain. I have added Image along with this post to give you an idea. The string should have been in center while its not. Thanks!
its a bit blurry but thats what I got.

I observe strange behavior of the same code used in desktop application and IE11 plugin.
I'm adding OSD and some geometry to video frame using DirectDraw and Direct2D which works fine in desktop application. The same code is used in IE11 plugin but none of above appear on the video. In both cases I recalculate positions to match the current frame size and it works flawlessly in desktop. Once I switch to IE, everything is drawn off-screen. Once I stop recalculating positions it starts to appear in IE plugin (not exactly where it should be) but in desktop it looks definitely wrong. Frame sizes and coordinates (recalculated) are the same for both cases (added printouts to validate it). What is the problem could be and why it behaves differently between desktop and IE plugin?Running on Win10 x64, IE11, DirectX11Sorry, providing minimal reproducible example is quite problematic in this case, but I can try and show the code (quite a big chunk) if someone interested.
EDIT001: Oddly it works on another Win10 machine as expected. Have to be something with my local machine, the question is what is it.
I'm developing a locked down tablet app for students meant to bring up a testing website. Currently the site uses the asp.net version of the CKEditor control with no problems in Safari.
However, when I try to use the editor with the UIWebView control (because of the iOS versions we are committed to supporting, I cannot try other controls like WKWebView) I run into two issues:
The cursor seems to run away from the text (from what I can tell this spacing seems to have to do with spaces specifically although given how slowly it moves away from where new text is entered, it's hard to tell).
When the cursor reaches the bottom of the text box it will simply move below it, rather than adding scrollbars.
Is this simply a matter of the lag between the development of the base CKEditor control and its conversion to ASP.NET or is this a fundamentally broken part of the control?
I am developing a j2me polish app,and I used words in Persian(same as Arabic) words. but in some older SonyEricsson phones the words are separated and reversed. I searched the web but I found some topic in LWUIT and not polish. how can I solve my problem in these phones.
Some devices have not persian font engine so when you try to show a persian word, you see some problem in arranging of chrarcters and ... .
You have two problems:
Separated form of characters.
Reversed arranging of characters.
To solve first problem, you can use one of these:
change the byte code of your App
use custom font
use a picture that display the word that you want to show
use fonts of device(if device has proper font)
For more details look at this link, that I answered some months ago.
To solve second problem, look at this link,I displayed an idea there.
Of course I answer those questions in persian and if you do not know persian, tell me to give you more details. Finally please tell me, if your problem will solved.
I've been experiencing some very strange behavours in an app I'm developing. The app is not very advanced, it stores a couple of places in a sqlite database and is displayed in listviews, on a mapview etc. So, when browsing through my app after deploying it to my phone everything works great, but after a while one listview doesn't get inflated. A scrollbar appears as if the items were there but I can't see them. I push the back button to close the app. When revisiting the app my first view, which has two buttons, gets all messed up. The buttons fill the viewport and the background disappears etc. I can't figure out what's wrong.
Anyone else facing these problems? My phone is a HTC Desire HD with Android 2.3.5
The app is pretty "layout heavy", if you know what I mean. The listview items has custom background images, I'm using custom fonts etc. But the app is running smoothly up to the point when it freaks out and displays/don't display everything wrong.
My first thought is there is some kind of memory issue, ideas?
EDIT:
I believe this might have something to do with defining and using #00000000 as transparent color. Use #android:color/transparent instead.
SOLUTION:
So after doing some testing I found that what I previously mentioned in the edit really is the cause of this problem. I had defined the transparent color in my colors.xml as #00000000. This seems to work, sometimes... And other times it grabs a drawable instead, but not a drawable that is named "transparent", it grabs ANY drawable. Weird but true.
After some testing I finally found the cause of this problem. I had defined the transparent color in my colors.xml as #00000000. This seems to work, sometimes... And other times it grabs a drawable instead, but not a drawable that is named "transparent", it grabs ANY drawable. Weird but true.
So to fix this problem you should use #android:color/transparent instead when you want transparency on, for example, a view background.
If there are memory errors you should be able to catch them in logcat. You'll get "VM failed on xxxx byte allocation" messages (or the like).
Silly/stupid answer: often when I run into layout issues within my app, it's because I needed to do a clean build after having changed my layouts. You might want to start there.
Edit: You might also try the emulator, and if you suspect memory issues you could start the emulator with a small heap to force the issue to occur sooner. You can also check your heap usage in DDMS or with the Eclipse MAT to see if it's leaking.
I was experiencing the same problem on Galaxy tab even with #android:color/transparent. Was able to fix it only by replacing android:background="#color/transparent" with android:background="#null".
Since long time i been having a real problem with the different ways that each browser display text.
Sure you have noticed that even when you create a stylesheet specifying everything about the font properties, still every browser display the same text with some differences, the usual problem is the font weight, that even if you specify it different browsers display it different ways.
I would like to know if some as come with a solution. Not turning the text into a image.
Thanks.
EDIT:
This is a example of the problem. On the left Firefox and right IE. However i have defined in the CSS font family, weight, size and still they render the fonts different.
Snapshot
Do you mean that on one browser its bold and another one its normal? A reset should fix that, but if it doesn't, it might be something overriding that.
If you're talking about fonts looking different, it is possible - for example, since Google Chrome / Chromium sandboxes the renderer process, the font rendering won't be affected by other parts of the system, and I believe that it uses some sort of special font rendering. To be honest, on my Linux install, I do get bolder fonts on Chromium, but Firefox displays them fine.
There's SIFR (as pointed above), but it needs Flash and it is a bit heavy. There's also Cufon http://cufon.shoqolate.com/ that uses Javascript. Could you show a screencast so we know what's the problem? Thanks.
SIFR is a good solution, as long as you're only trying to control the appearance of small chunks of text (headings, design elements, etc.)
Beyond that, browsers are perfectly allowed to render text any way they want, and getting it pixel-perfect between browsers and operating systems is usually not even desirable for larger chunks of text. Users will have different accessibility settings and anti-aliasing settings which are tuned to the way they want to read text, and in general websites should try to respect that.
You can use SIFR.
Although this problem is already about a week old, here is a solution that I found, that might be related:
http://blog.wolffmyren.com/2009/05/28/jquery-fadeinfadeout-ie-cleartype-glitch/
If you're not using jQuery, try removing the filter attribute from the elements that are displaying non-Cleartype'd text and it should work, according to that blog post.
