Quick search by related entity field - CRM 2011 - search

Is there possible to do quick search by related entity fields?
In example, if we have Contact lookup field on Lead entity. Can we search Leads by Contact's email address or address name?
Can you refer me to some tutorials.
I know that this is possible by using 'Advance find' option.
Thanks in advance.

Sadly, it's not possible to natively configure quick search to set attributes on related entities as "find columns".
As you might be aware, the native solution would be to find contacts by email address then open their record to look at their Leads.
The only other solution I can imagine would be to embed a custom Silverlight or ASPX page behind a navigation or ribbon button. In this case you could execute your own logic for searching but would not get the rich functionality of the native CRM grid without a lot of work.

Handle click count for documents in SharePoint 2010

I am having a page with documents loaded in SharePoint 2010. I have three buttons below each documents in the page and they are 'Like','Unlike' and 'Comment'. So whenever people go there and see the documents they can click on any buttons of their wish.
My question is how to take the hit count of these buttons seperately and display it for each document. Is it possible to create a list with having these three columns and handle it using Client-Side scripting. Any suggestions or help is much appreciated.
Each item in SharePoint has a property bag that can contain ad-hoc data like this. You could certainly add additional columns to store this data and update those columns but that does mean that users could easily manipulate the values via the UI. Since the property bag is only accessible via the various API's, you wouldn't have this issue.
For an example of accessing the property bag via CSOM (which would be your best option since I'm assuming you want your users to be able to like, unlike and comment without refreshing the page each time), see this post reading and writing property bag values using CSOM
Another thing to consider for comments is the existing notes functionality that exists in SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013. These comments are ties into the social functionality and may give you a bit more bang for your buck. To show the comments page for a particular list item see this post SharePoint Social Data using Javascript

CRM 2011: Lookup in HTML Web Resource

Can a lookup be used in an HTML web resource?
I have replaced the command of the "Convert to Case" button on the email entity.
It now opens up an html web resource on click.
I need to show lookup fields to Customer and Subject.
Is there an alternative to a lookup for this situation?
Adding lookups to your own page is definitely a pain since they don't 'provide' you with a control to add it to your HTML resources. I am also not aware of any toolkits that are readily available.
A possible solution for displaying subjects (assuming you don't have too many) would be to use a HTML select element and populate it with the possible values.
As far as the customer goes, it will most likely take some creativity or elbow grease to replace since most likely you have too many accounts/contacts to display in a HTML select. One thought is you are most likely converting an e-mail with a contact or account already in the e-mail (from or regarding fields). You can try and pull all the accounts and contacts from the e-mail fields and allow the user to select one of those via radio, select, etc.
If something like that doesn't work then most likely you will need to create your own lookup, or something similar like a text box with an inline grid that gets filtered like a lookup so you don't have to recreate the entire dialog experience.
Hope that helps.

How to display notes in opportunity form of mscrm 2011?

I need to display account notes across all opportunities. typically a MSCRM creates a blank Notes section for each new Opportunity you create inside a account, but I need to display a running Account dialog of conversations to review in one continues notepad (means display all notes).
Can anyone tell me how I can display all notes in the opportunity form?
Is this possible without coding (or in fact, with coding!)
Thanks in advance,
SD
Well you can do this a few different ways.
1) The easiest way is to add an IFRAME and then point to the applicable Account notes container. You'd have to set the "id" attribute based on the account. Here's what your IFRAME url will look like:
/_controls/notes/notesdata.aspx?EnableInlineEdit=true&EnableInsert=true&id=%7bEF88BCAA-C3EB-E111-B142-78E7D162EE67%7d&ParentEntity=1
2) If you are only wanting to display the notes and not allow for a user to edit them (read-only), then you'll need to use fetch to query the annotations where the related id equals the account.
Just to be clear the on requirement here.
I believe you are saying: Each Account has multiple Opportunities, each Opportunity has many Notes. On the Account you want to show all the Notes for all the Opportunities.
I don't think you can achieve this with out of the box functionaility, I would suggest creating an SSRS report and iFrame'ing it in.

Use EE Search Module to search custom fields

I'm sure this is something simple for which I just haven't found the documentation:
I have a website with a member directory. All of the member data is stored in a members channel, which uses a variety of custom fields – some of which are part of the P&T Field Pack.
I use a Safecracker form to enter the data, and it renders the custom fields beautifully:
What I want is essentially the same form, but have it perform a search, instead of enter the field data.
I've scoured the Search Module documentation, but can't find information on how to search individual fields, let alone how to render them. I've also searched the Safecracker documentation for how to configure it to search (the ideal solution).
How do I do this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

EE's search module won't do what you want - it's more of a general search tool, and its "Advanced search" form is less about custom fields and more about things like channels and categories.
You want to look at Solspace's Super Search. It's much more powerful, and will allow you to do exactly what you want in terms of your query - though you will have to build the form manually (i.e., you won't get the SafeCracker-style simplicity of using {field:field_name} to have your form fields output for you).
I would also recommend checking out SuperSearch.

Sharepoint lookup column customization

I'm developing a customized document library in the SharePoint 2007 environment. What I'm doing is creating a content type with multiple columns of information related to the document. Users will use this content type to upload new documents rather than the standard new document functionality. One of my columns in this content type is proving to be more difficult than I can handle.
The column is essentially supposed to be a sort of 'related documents' column, where it offers the user the option to select another document that is related to this document. So I thought I'll create a lookup column that displays the titles of all other documents in the library and allows the user to choose one. Simple enough, but I need much more functionality than this...and here is where I need help.
I need the related document column to actually link to the related document, not just display the title...not in edit mode while a user is adding a document, just in the standard document library view after the document has been added.
I also need the link to include a url variable that is stored in another column named 'Document Number'.
I assume this will require custom coding which is fine. Please not that I can't use SharePoint Designer. I use Visual Studio and code must be C#. This will be packaged and released as a feature.
Can anyone help me acheive this? Example code, suggestions, etc...? Thanks!
I would suggest using a multi-column field as your base value type - this article on MSDN should get you started. For rendering the field in document library views, you will need to use a rendering pattern. Conveniently, MSDN has an example of a multi-column RenderPattern.
