How do I create a custom form only for admin to enter 2 setting values.
Admin should be able to enter number of published sites.
Admin should be able to enter number of paid sites.
The site then uses these values to display on UI. Is there anyway in Orchard CMS to do this?
Sure. In Orchard, settings are a content item of type Site. You can extend them like you extend any content type, by adding parts and fields. Look at any example of module with settings.

I need to create few templates for E-commerce site. Can anyone guide me as how to create templates in Kentico 9 ? There is an existing site and I need to create five other templates for the same. Am totally new to Kentico.
Please help.
There are many generic templates in Kentico, so you could clone any of them and modify to your needs - this might be easier for you to edit existing one as you'll have an example.
I'd recommend you to take following steps:
Go to Pages application in Kentico administration
Select any page in content tree on the left
go to properties -> template
Save as new template (so you do not screw up exting one) and save your changes
Switch to Design tab - this is where you build/configure you template
On the Design tab there is green line with template name and hamburger menu, where you can choose edit layout - this is where you can implement markup of the page as well as split your page into zones. After you accomplish html for you page save changes and close current dialog.
Now you should be back to Design tab. Here you can add web parts to zones you've specified in the layout. There is huge amount of different web parts (user controls). All they have different purpose and settings, so you should check documentation and figure out which one should be used in your particular case.
Try editable text, editable image, repeater, navigation in order to get an idea how it works.
I Want to Show custom welcome screen when a user logs in to Dynamics CRM 2016. I searched and i just got how to disable welcome screen tour but i couldn't find how to show my own custom screen (message or HTML).
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Make a dashboard with a single large HTML web resource.
Place your content inside that HTML web resource.
Set that dashboard as the default for new users. Display a specific dashboard by default for a specific user role
You can also add your welcome page as HTML web resource, add its link to your sitemap and set this sitemap subarea as a default tab for every user.
EDIT (detailed description):
Create custom HTML web resource and publish it in CRM.
Edit your sitemap to contain link to newly created web resource. Sample configuration below:
Sample
In my case my web resource HTML name is "new_welcome.html"
Go to user's personal options and set your new site.map position to be your user's default tab. You may do this with CRM interface (separately for every user :()) or with the tools for personal options mass update (for example with User Settings Utility from XrmToolBox)
Sample results of above mentioned operations:
Solution of you problem is Announcements.
Its easy to configure and easy to circulate the information across all the users.
Follow the below links for more information about Announcement,
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/broadcast-announcements-to-an-entire-organization.aspx
I would suggest not to use announcements because of the following reasons:
It is legacy functionality from CRM 2011 version.
It does not support rich text formatting or html components, images, etc.
You still need to create custom web resource to present it to the end user (so from the work effort perspective it also does not make sense)
I am evaluating different .Net CMS systems trying to find one that will work for my needs.
The main need that I have is to allow content areas to be edited by specific users in specific roles.
i.e. HR pages can only be edited by users in the HR role.
I've spent the day playing with a test site, reading docs and watching tutorial vids but can't seem to find how to make a content page or area editable by specific roles.
IS it possible or do I need to find a different CMS?
Sure. For individual item permission control, you can enable content permissions. You can also set permissions per content type.
Under Modules/Security enable "Content Item Permissions"
Under Content Types choose your content type and add the "Content Itme Permissions" part to the content type.
Then under Content choose your content type and "Enable Content Item access control".
From there you can set your permissions.
I love the simplicity of SP Wiki. I have further enhanced the wiki page by adding an additional column/field to categorize each page. I then embedded:
- a CEWP to include SCRIPTS and STYLES,
- a list to create a heirarchy (breadcrumb navigation)
- a document library to highlight resources applicable to that page.
The dynamic effect is acheived by:
1. setting my resource doocuments and breadcrumb list to that exact category and
2. filtering the list/library web parts via 'connections'.
Whilst it was easy to this set up on 2 or 3 wiki pages, it is time consuming and would be confusing for the person to whom I would soon be handing over this function to create and manage hundreds of pages.
Is there a way to combine all the 3 web parts (and their customization) and export it as a single web part? Or any other way to achieve this?
Note: Unfortunately I am a front end user only - I dont have access to the backend admin access or SP Designer.
Save the site as a template :)
Reference: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj938033(v=office.15).aspx
You create one template wiki, save it as a template including content and you can then create a new site, based on that template.
we have a custom page layout, and we want this:
When a new sub site is created by users, we want the default.aspx, AKA welcome page to be based on our custom page layout.
How can we do this?
Two options:
1) Create a custom web template and define a module for the welcome page. This obviously only works for that custom web template, but does not require code.
2) Create a web event receiver (e.g. WebProvisioned), apply it to site collection. In the code behind set the page layout of the welcome page to your custom page layout. This works for any template, but requires custom code.
Option 1 only works in a farm solution, option 2 should also work in a sandboxed solution I guess.
I believe you want this OOTB (Codeless).
Go to page (you want to make home page) set the layout. (you custom
layout).
Set this page as a home page.
Remove all data (lists, libraries, pages). except this page.
Save the site as site template(_layouts/savetmpl.aspx). If you are not finding the save as template option. Write the url.
After saving the template, you can
use the same template for all your sites. For creating subsites,
this should be add in list site template in settings. Let me know, I
can explain you more.
Thanks
